FOR LOCAL MARKETS

The Bad Guy 10-20-2005 12:26 PM

Seriously, what's the point of showing it on Sunday?

The Fins/Titans game was on Saturday and they used the excuse that the NCAA had restrictions on what football can be shown on Saturday.

Well this is a Friday and they are tape delaying it. I know DTV has the ability to pickup the feed. I know the NFL Network does too.

This is a disservice to all the fans outside the KC area.

Tribal Warfare 10-20-2005 12:29 PM

Will KOAM recieve the live feed?

Reerun_KC 10-20-2005 12:29 PM

K I am on the phone with them agian.

this is a national disaster....

jspchief 10-20-2005 12:30 PM

Anyone have a customer service number for Direct TV?

I expect a pro-rated refund. The representative I spoke with told me that all games that weren't locally broadcast would be available.

I agree with you but they'll give you the bullshit excuse that they did show the game on ST at the originally scheduled time, so you didn't miss out on the game, you just didn't get to see it live (not realizing that for true fans, missing it live means missing it altogether).

It's been pretty apparent that Directv looks at their Sunday Ticket subscribers as a loyal source of income and will stop at nothing to extract every penny they can out of them. Plus, they overpaid to keep ST exclusive, so instead of taking a financial hit each ST subscriber takes a hit when they push the price through the roof.

Keep Calling. I have called 4 times asking.

CrazyHorse 10-20-2005 12:38 PM

Is there a site for DTV? A forum of some sort?

Accrding to the NFL office Direct Tv has no finalized information... the decision has not been made as to what's going to happen.

siberian khatru 10-20-2005 12:41 PM

WHY can't/won't they show the game Friday night? What's the contractual obstacle? Is there some moral imperative to not airing Friday night NFL games? I mean, what the fuck?

I don't pay 200-fucking-dollars to watch two-day-old taped broadcasts of football games in which I already know the outcome. fuckers charge me more each year to give me less. Goddamn it. The only reason I pay that much is to see Chiefs games because I don't live in the KC market.

Good to know at least there is a little hope left. Watching the game at the bar would be a nice way to start off a Friday night.

Someone who's calling might ask if it's possible to temporarily change your listed zip code so you can be considered in KC. I had one of their service techs offer to do that last year.

ROYC75 10-20-2005 12:48 PM

I have them on the phone, of course, on hold , waiting as usual .

I'm not sure if they will. When the guy I talked to offered, it wasn't half-way across the country like KC would be for me.

Just trying to come up with something.

KCs local channel likely have the right to stop that from happening. Thier advertisers would have much to gain by having the game televised only in KC. By putting it on DTV, it might take revenue from the local station.

Just a thought off the top of my head though.

HemiEd 10-20-2005 12:53 PM

I just talked to Direct TV, a very helpful individual named Erick. He researched it and said that it will be on Channel 706 Nationwide at 6 Live. I hope he is right!

No, it gets blacked out on DTV in the KC and Miami markets.

Right, which is why I don't understand while DTV would ONLY show it live in the KC and Miami markets.

He dug into it pretty deep for me since he is a Nebraska native and a Chiefs fan. I have about 75% confidence in what he was able to find out. He indicated that the changes were just made in the schedule.

NY CHIEF 10-20-2005 01:38 PM

ditto that info , 3:35 pm est just got off the phone with direct tv and they have the change iin their system hopefully should be able to get it

I've called 10 times & asked the same thing. Make sure you get a different CSR each time though...if they get enough calls & emails they might show it.

I've called Directv 3 times and now have three different answers. I ass insisted it was still being shown live on Sunday!

Morons, all of them. I have asked for a supervisor twice and been disconnected both times...

You couldn't get the same CSR twice if you tried. Their cube farm is as big as a football field. And there are at least three of them in the US.

runnercyclist 10-20-2005 02:04 PM

Directv Website NFL still sasys Miami vs KC channel 706 on the 23rd.

Jmart 10-20-2005 02:06 PM

I wonder if I can just quarantine myself off in a room with no Internet until Sunday so i can watch the game like it was happening realtime.

ROYC75 10-20-2005 02:12 PM

Give it up fellas, their contract is for Sunday games only. Period ! You can watch it on Sunday.

Unless ESPN cuts a fast contract, the game will only be televised on the loacl markets.

Johnson&Johnson 10-20-2005 02:21 PM

This is when DISH Network makes sense. With the DISH, you can set it up to received local CBS affiliates feed. ....I think.

If not, NFL network or ESPN should pick this up. Having this only in local KC market does not make any sense. No one in the Miami market is going to hang around to watch the game on TV unless they plan on being stuck on freeways trying to get out of town later. The die hards will be at the game.
