Bronco's Carswell severely injured in multi-car crash

http://www.rockymountainnews.com/drm...190890,00.html

By Felix Doligosa Jr., Rocky Mountain News
October 27, 2005 Denver Broncos lineman Dwayne Carswell was taken to a hospital this morning after a multi-car accident in Aurora.

Shortly after 7 a.m., a driver in a gold Grand Am cut off a Volvo on the northbound lane of Parker Road near Hampden Avenue, said Anthony Guzman, spokesman for the Aurora police department. The two vehicles collided and went into the southbound lane, hitting three vehicles.

Carswell was driving in one of the southbound vehicles. Carswell and a female were taken to a local hospital.

Ted Sundquist, the Broncos general manager, told CBS4 Carswell had a torn diaphragm and bleeding in the chest cavity. Doctors did exploratory work to see what the extent of the injuries was around his heart and/or aorta, CBS4 reported on its Web site, cbs4denver.com. Sundquist, said the torn diaphragm will need to be repaired. Surgery may also be needed on the chest cavity.

Phobia 10-27-2005 11:07 AM

That's unfortunate and I wish him the best.

I guess he'll be listed as doubtful?

htismaqe 10-27-2005 11:08 AM

Holy shit, that sounds serious. I hope he's ok.

Katipan 10-27-2005 11:09 AM

:( I don't wish that on anyone.

The diaphram is the muscle that causes the change in pressure that results in you breathing.

Thats some serious injury. Makr him lucky to be alive and done for the year.

Dunit35 10-27-2005 11:11 AM

Thats horrible, I hope he is ok.

dirk digler 10-27-2005 11:16 AM

I hope he turns out to be ok and has a full recovery.

[Bronco fan] If he wasn't wearing a seatbelt, he's stupid and deserved it. [/Bronco fan]

ptlyon 10-27-2005 11:20 AM

Sad deal. Best to him, his female companion, and their families.

mike_b_284 10-27-2005 11:22 AM

DUDE, COME ON

that is not cool, no one deserves it. How would you feel if it happened to you?

Katipan 10-27-2005 11:23 AM

I imagine his diaphragm would hurt.

sedated 10-27-2005 11:25 AM

Bleeding in the chest cavity is never good.

Guy that hit him was probably drunk, too.

I'm just repeating what bronco fan tells me about Derrick Thomas.

As for how I would feel if it happened to me... I imagine I would feel sore. I would also care a lot more, but that's because I rank myself above Dwayne Carswell.

sedated 10-27-2005 11:26 AM

He'll probably get pregnant now that his diaphram is torn.

The bad news never stops.

Hope he heals up alright - always thought he was a pretty good TE. Best of luck.

As far as what Bronco fan tells you about Derrick Thomas, I think we should probably try to be better than them - not stoop to their level given the opportunity.

Sometimes the seatbelt can cause injuries, in this case, a torn diaphram could be the result of the seltbelt preventing him from ejecting out of the car (which may have resulted in head/brain injuries).

Speaking of which, do you like movies about Gladiators?

NewChief 10-27-2005 12:47 PM

One thing I definitely don't miss about living in Colorado is the danger of driving. It has to be one of the most dangerous places to commute. I-25 is a freaking deathtrap from Ft. Collins to and through Denver. I-70 isn't much better, but at least it doesn't have all the lane closures. T-Rex also sucks.

Sounds to me like he was just in the wrong lane at the wrong time. Nothing to do with seatbelts on or off.

Best of luck to all involved and a quick recovery.

At least DT's kids won't miss out on all of that financial support he provided during his tenure as a dead beat dad.

I am sure Elways Sister is out playing DT in the after life .. only thing I would add is Elways sis supported her kids , left a future for them and died of Cancer . DT didnt Provide forall of his kids , Died acting like a reerun .....

Enough of them have said it in the past. If your search function didn't suck so bad, I'd be pasting them all over the Mange's front page.

If those douche bags want to take what I say here over to the Mane, fine. All they are doing is turning that carswell thread into a cesspool by doing it.

My only response on that thread was to your ridiculous claim that Carswell should be in the Ring of Honor. If your trunk monkeys want to make it into more than that, I'll be more than happy to take a big ole dump all over that thread.

Not very tactful at all about a matter most Chief Fans view as grevious, but is it untrue? I don't know. All I know about the guy is he was a heck of a football player that died in a tragic car accident and played for the Chiefs.

Saul, you and I are buds, hell, I invited you to the CU game last year even as a rival fan. I would trust you to not be a loser like this guy no matter what the situation bud.

However, guys like this go off and preach how they hate reading about former players deaths and to prove their point, they go off and do the same shit? Sorry, but this guy may be a decent enough guy in real life, but for today, he's the biggest scumbag loser I've seen in quite awhile. Let him cry foul over here. Difference being, we don't drag sh*t said on the Mange over here to cry about.

That site is the biggest bunch of hypocritical pussies I've ever come across. They can fling sh*t like monkeys fighting boredom at the zoo, but as soon a turd comes back at them, they all squeal like a pig that just got it's nuts removed with vise-grips.

Don't come over here huffing about this crap when you let the same thing go on over at that dump all the time. fucking hypocrite.

Pezman 10-27-2005 01:37 PM

On the bright side Saul, its good to see that you've taken the high road over there bro. But then again, you are respected on both forums, something that jspchief wont ever know. I don't know why we have to keep reminding the Bronco fans that we could really care less about what happens about their bulletin board.

Maybe if it was cooler, they wouldn't have to come over here to find someone to talk to.

That payback punch in the nuts that I gave all those pussies over there was well worth the ban.

I don't give two sh*ts about taking the high road. I like to give better than I got, and judging by all the bruised vaginas, mission accomplished.

If you cared half as much about this as you claim, you would have put an end to it when Donkey fans were doing it. You're just trying to look like some model of human compassion, when in reality, if it had happened to a Chiefs player you would have sat back and let those guys say whatever they wanted about it.

Okay he does have a point here, while I will not post on the mange because of the double standards you allow on the site... Numerous, and I mean numerous times you will allow you fellow donk fans on there to sling some vulger display of humanities about chiefs players or fans, but when it comes to us doing the same they are condemned or banned.. Hell I am sure we have a good 3-8 major asses here towards donk fans(me towards taco, more so because he acts like whitlock after a fasting) you guys have a good 15-20, that you allow to be constant dicks(gochiefs not withstanding on your board)...

When DT died, there were a good 25+ mange faithful happy about his death compared to the what 2-3 here on carswell accident??? Hell and our BB population is how much bigger then yours???
