TSN.ca reports CFL QB Casey Printers (B.C. Lions) will work out for the Kansas City Chiefs later this week, according to his agent, Alex Williams. Printers has until Feb. 15 to sign with an NFL team before he is obligated to return to the CFL and play out his option in 2006.

he's getting a look from several other teams as well, anybody know anything about this guy? Another Boerichter project maybe?

KCChiefsMan 12-13-2005 01:41 PM

OK, I read the thread title and wonder to myself, "WTF is a quarterback printer? Are they made by HP or Epson?"

Hope he's not another boerighter.

A talented player that does nothing but make big plays, and yet we bench him every week.

Chief fan from north of the border. I am also an avid CFL fan and have seen Printers play quite a bit over the past few years, especially in 2004. He had a career year in 04 and won the CFL MVP award in time to be benched for the '04 Grey Cup (which they lost) in favour of Dave Dickenson (who had an NFL stint with the Chargers I think) who was their season opening starter but went down with an injury. In 2005, there was a constant QB controversy in BC between Dave and Casey and one of these two will move on to another CFL team if Printers doesn't sign with an NFL club. I think Printers could be viewed as a poor man's Vick. He happened to have an excellent receiving core in BC which helps, but they also have a weak O-line so he had to rely on his legs to make plays, not only great receivers. Anyhow, just thought I'd post a bit of info about him. He is also expected to try out for the Dolphins among many other NFL clubs.

He's still a young guy and even if he catches on as the 3rd Qb you gotta figure he is a better option than Huard. Hell I'm probably a better option as a 3rd QB than Huard.

lol
"Commentators call him... The Next Warren Moon.
Some call him... The One.
Others call him... The Boss.
He calls himself... Casey Printers.
The league calls him... Most Valuable Player."

I call him... hyperbolic

So does he translate to the NFL or does he not have the pure passing skills needed to succeed? I'm glad he can make plays with his legs but can he take a 5 step plant and deliver a strike too?

I think Lexmark is a good printer

Well, it's hard to tell what kind of success he will have in the NFL. Several CFL stars have had stints in the NFL, Doug Flutie and Warren Moon are by far the most successful QB's, but recent CFL stars such as Ricky Ray, Jeff Garcia, Dave Dickenson, Henry Burris have all signed with NFL teams and with the exception of Garcia, the others have come back to the CFL and are dominant players in the league. Just shows how different the two leagues are...plus one thing to keep note is that the CFL is more of a passing league than the NFL and the field is wider which helps QB's look great.

Printers does have great QB tools, strong arm, can drop back and pass, but I suppose time will tell if he even gets signed on by a club.

He also won back-to-back conference champs and went to three bowl games with TCU.
