Better NFL QB: Young or Leinart?
Forget Young vs. Vick, Young vs. Smith, Young vs. Cunningham, Young vs. Peete, Young vs. World...
|
Leinart is more of a prototypical NFL QB, while no one will ever question Vince's heart and desire.
Push - depends on what o-line they each play under. |
Leinart's overrated. His arm is pretty average.
Young has all the tools, can scramble as well as anyone outside of Vick, and plenty accurate. |
Leinart lacks all the intangibles.
|
Young is a taller Michael Vick, who happens to be right handed, as well. In the NFL, he doesn't get a lot of those runs you saw tonight. BTW, the Trojans must have watched our game vs. the Giants, because they immulated that tackling performance to a "T."
|
I don't think either of them have great arms. Young's probably more efficient and obviously has better legs. I think Leinart's pretty intelligent, and can go down the field better. They let him change calls and all that at the line of scrimmage.

Leinart has composure and pocket awareness. Those traits usually lend themselves to success. |
Young will have NFL Gm's pisspantsing themselves, line art not so much.

When asked to comment on Vince Young's NFL MVP award, former Saint/Buccanneer/Texan/Jet/Cardinals player Matt Leinart responded, "I'm still the better quarterback."
|
There are a lot of factors beyond the individual's talent.
Leinart to the Texans with a lousy line? Bad news for him. I could see Young going to the Titans and having pretty quick success. Personally, I think Leinart is more likely to succeed. |

What was that? Arizona has a football team? |
Ah, let's put this thread up after everyone is jizzing about Young.........but I ask. Why are you comparing a top 10 NFL draft pick to a player who will likely be moved to WR?

I think Young would make a good WR, slash type of player. |

Oh please... I'm a Lienart fan myself, but Young is definitely not going to be playing WR. |

His mechanics are jacked, but scouts say they can raise his release with minor tweaking. It won't take an overhaul. The guy is going to be a QB in the NFL. |

BULLSHIT!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Raiduhs |
Siberian,
I think Leinart also said, "We are the better team, but we couldn't get it done tonight, our D couldn't stop them." |
I think Vince Young will be a much better NFL QB. Leinart has a LESS than average arm, and Young reminds me of Randall Cunningham. He has a big arm and is extremely sippery.
|
I think USC is the better all around team. I think Texas had the best athlete on the field bar none.
|
leinart or palmer?
|
That's rather unfortunate I think Young has a better shot of being a great WR than a Great QB. He's got size, speed, moves good open field skills.
|
I voted Leinart, but his bitch quotient went up after he said USC was the better team in the postgame.

Matt Leinart isn't a can't miss NFL prospect, he doesn't have the natural talent of Carson Palmer or anything like that.
He's going to need players around him to help him win games but he's smart and gets the ball into the hands of his playmakers. Personally I think he's got alot of the same skills Trent Green does and would fit our current offense really well, but he won't make it till our pick. |

I think Leinart will translate well to an NFL offense. He throws on time and to spots. He gets the ball out and quickly reads defenses...and he's accurate.
Young HOLDS THE BALL A LONG TIME. He doesn't throw in rythym and some of his passes can float. Now, I have to admit, I was rather suprised watching the game, then seeing his stats. He completes more than I would have thought and his passing efficiency is great. Young's response to pressure is to run. It doesn't look like he goes through progressions that much. I think young has tools, but I thinik he's going to need a lot of coaching at the NFL level. All that being said, Young might succeed quicker than Leinart if they were to get into situations with bad offensive lines. In fact, I think Leinart is the kind of QB that could be ruined if he were thrown into the fire behind a crummy line. |

That's all you need to know about Reggie Bush. |
Quote:
He wasn't in as many plays this game. I've seen a lot of their games, and he wasn't in there that much at all. Maybe cramps or something. Fouts and Jackson said some players were tightening up, etc. Who knows though. You'd think he would've played more... |

Besides, Reggie's been teabagged so much by all these media types, he's gonna be chafed for years, which should hamper his NFL performance as well. |
I really do not expect either to be steller in the NFL. I would expect Leinert to be a starter for a few years and settle solidly into a longtime #2 QB. Young is part of the current fad to be fascinated with tremendously athletic but immature passing QBs. He is adequate in college with simple and single reads, I doubt he will be so productive with the more complex coverages of the NFL.
