We gave our 2nd last year for Surtain. We have an extra 6th for Fujita. Should be 7 picks total.

Mr. Laz 01-06-2006 10:56 AM

i thought the 2nd round we lost for surtain was for last year's draft?

wutamess 01-06-2006 10:58 AM

It was.

Actually, I think the comp pick goes to the team that currently has Holliday.

No, I'm talking about the compensatory picks you get for loss of RFAs. I don't think Holliday was a RFA though. Fujita was, but we traded him. And Blaylock may have been. I don't know about anyone else.

" A restricted free agent is a player for whom another team can make an offer, but his current team is allowed to match that offer. If the current team chooses not to match the offer, it may receive compensation in the form of a draft choice. The NFL awards compensatory picks based on the net loss of restricted free agents. The limit for compensatory picks is four per team. "

Yeah, sorry, it was a bad joke. I was just saying that Holliday is so bad that the team that has him deserves the comp pick.

the Talking Can 01-06-2006 12:06 PM

we got a 5/6th and a conditional for Fujita...

I thought it was a good one. Some people are just "slow"

HolmeZz 01-06-2006 01:49 PM

Holliday was cut. Thought that would prevent any compensation.

It would. I was just trying to think of guys that left that might have been RFAs. Maybe we didn't have any. Beisel?

Mecca 01-06-2006 02:00 PM

That's a pretty good question, if we get anything for a Blaylock or Beisel. I doubt it would be anything above a 5th rounder.

You also have to figure in that we picked up Bell, Knight, Hall, and possibly Washington. I'm sure those will cancel out Blaylock and Beisel, so I doubt we get any compensation picks this year.

Did I hear something?
