Munich (the movie) a question?

Recommendations please? I have been procrastinating on going to the theatre to see it since it is such a long movie at nearly 2 hours and 45 minutes.

What do people who have seen it think?

Fire Me Boy! 01-28-2006 03:18 PM

I absolutely loved it. But I really like Spielberg when he gets all serious. If you didn't like Schindler's List or Saving Private Ryan, probably should skip it.

I liked Saving Private Ryan, never went to the theatre to see Schindler's list. I heard it was completely in B&W and could not get myself to go.

Fire Me Boy! 01-28-2006 03:23 PM

:shake:

Couldn't go because it was in B&W? :Lin:

That's sad. Schindler's List is Spielberg's masterpiece. But Munich is very enjoyable.

Fire Me Boy! 01-28-2006 03:23 PM

Munich is more of a political action/thriller.

Someday they will show it on a DTV movie channel and I will record it and watch it. I just really dislike B&W movies and cannot bring myself to pay to see one.

How was the new James Bond in it? Did he look at all Bondish?

Don't tell me you haven't seen Casablanca? There are movies that HAVE to be in B&W.

Fire Me Boy! 01-28-2006 03:57 PM

Craig? Meh... not very Bondish. It'll be a stretch accepting a blonde, gritty Bond.

irishjayhawk 01-28-2006 04:17 PM

Definately go. You can read my review if you want, here

You notice I said pay to see. I have watched tons of old movies on television that are in B&W. I don't really enjoy B&W but if it is free and of quality I will watch it.

I am the heretic amongst you that prefer colorized versions of movies even classics such as "It's a Wonderful Life"

Yeah... take an Ansel Adams and add color. That'll make it better. :harumph:

It's funny you say that. We used to watch the colorized version every Christmas, and we'd turn the color down on the TV to make it black and white again. (owned a VHS copy)

Fire Me Boy! 01-28-2006 06:04 PM

KcMizzou... I like you. Vlad... you suck.

Extra Point 01-28-2006 06:22 PM

Don't need to see that movie. As a kid, I was sickened that those Israeli athletes got killed. Only Jim Mckay could have communicated the travesty was the way that it was.

Congrats, Hamas, for your political success. Your asses will be smoked within a year.

I liked Saving Private Ryan but did not like Schindler's List. Where does that put me on Munich?

Fire Me Boy! 01-28-2006 09:01 PM

Umm... don't know. But it's good. And you're crazy for not liking Schindler's List.

OMG :shake:

Not exactly the common make out flick. Jeez

Sully 01-28-2006 10:45 PM

Munich is GREAT. I saw it a few weeks ago, and it's...well, all I can think of is great. It's gritty. Makes you uncomfortable, and constantly forces you to question who is on the right side of things.

Deberg_1990 01-28-2006 11:00 PM

Yea, i want to see Munich too. Everything ive heard about it is great except some of its critics thinks it "humanizes" the palestinine terrorists a bit too much. I love anything Spielberg does to be honest. The guy is pretty freakin brilliant.

Uh...that was a Sienfeld reference.

BigRedChief 01-29-2006 12:42 AM

I knew a guy who was on the Israeli Entebbe raid and also on one of the revenge missions. No Rambo at all. Very humble.

Sorry. Don't follow Sienfeld. Had not heard that one. I just know the episode regarding "master of your own domain"

There's nothing wrong with "humanizing" anything -- they're humans and you have to realize and accept that they have their own beliefs and only rationalizations for why they do things.

My wife is fondling my balls right now. Gotta run.

Fire Me Boy! 01-29-2006 01:29 PM

Damn woman. As soon as I walk away from the computer, she says she's got to go to work.

Halfcan 01-29-2006 01:57 PM

I havn't seen it yet. It can't be as good as King Kong though-lol Try that one again.

It wasn't completely in B&W. There was a short segment at the end of the movie that was in color. I won't describe it because I thought it was a pretty neat idea that might not be as good if I spoil it for you.

SLAG 07-16-2006 10:26 PM

did Spielberg Steal this From HBO?

Munich was a great movie.

Deberg_1990 07-16-2006 10:40 PM

Munich is a masterpiece IMO. Spielberg just continues to amaze me. Its actually got quite a bit of action in it for such a serious drama piece. No other filmaker on earth can come close to matching Spielbergs range as a moviemaker. The guy can make anything.

For some reason it didn't seem that Munich got the attention it deserved. I thought it was Spielberg at his best but for some reason it it seemed to go in and out of the theaters without the usual talk.

I also heard some say it was boring. For a 3 hour movie I thought it was intense the whole way though and the time flew by.

For the most part I agree. However I thought A.I. was a steaming pile of crap.

Munich was excellent. Good use of motif in it as well.

Mojo Rising 07-17-2006 12:57 AM

How did it end? I didn't know I was making a 3 hour commitment when I pressed play. I turned it off with an hour left with intention of finishing it. Even with the Bolckbuster 9 day rental I never finished it.

The part I saw was good and engaging.
