ESPN.com's John Clayton reports, as noted earlier, NFL owners are studying at least four different revenue plans. There is a Pittsburgh model being pushed by Dan and Art Rooney of the Pittsburgh Steelers. The plan would have each team put 25 percent of local revenues into a pool that would be distributed to teams in the lower end of the revenue streams. There is a New England Patriots/New York Jets model that expands on an already existing local revenue sharing plan. Currently, $40 million of local revenue is being shared. The Patriots/Jets model expands that number significantly. At this point no system has the 24 votes needed to pass.

Sounds like something is close but yet so ****ing far away! :banghead:

leviw 03-08-2006 05:46 PM

Hopefully this means they're close.

Although I'm sure it's just another desperate attempt to get something done.

So, about 4 hours and 13 minutes from right now?

Saulbadguy 03-08-2006 05:47 PM

I think they are close.

Let's just push it back to September. Now the owners don't know what they want to do...

Hammock Parties 03-08-2006 05:49 PM

In two hours they'll push it back another hour, an hour after that they'll push it back another 30 minutes, then 15 more minutes, then 5 more minutes....

That golden egg-laying goose is probably looking at her watch and contemplating her next destination.

This is wearing me down. I guess I should just not watch for updates but it's hard not to when you care about the outcome.

I swear I am not staying up late tonight to find out it's been pushed back 3 more days like I did the other night.

I can imagine Tags and Upshaw one minute before the deadline coming out and saying "we was just ****ing with ya, we had this thing done all along, funny huh?"

Coach 03-08-2006 06:30 PM

ESPN SportsCenter reported that the salary cap was moved to 11p.m. ET. The Owners agreement for the new CBA will still be at 8:00 ET/7:00 CT. So about a half-hour to go.

In the meantime, we have the Eagles signing Barber, and the Rams signing Glover.

Shouldn't they also have pushed back the begining of the signings along with the cuts?

chiefqueen 03-08-2006 06:47 PM

Here we go again............

Is this just Tags way of taking headlines from March Madness?

I think that the contracts for the EVENTUAL free agents run out on Thursday, opening free agency. The guys already released and on the waiver can be signed. At least, that's my theory....

Guys who are cut and waived can immediately begin to sign with new teams
