2006 Season Record Predictions
kchero did a thread....I thought a poll might be more useful....
So, how many games will the Chief's win next year? I said 11 in 2005 (which we SHOULD have gotten :cuss: ), and I'm gonna stick with that for this year....though, if the "D" progresses 12 is doable.... Put your "money" where your mouth is.... Here's the Schedule (with my prediction): Sep 10 Cincinnati 1:00pm W Sep 17 @Denver 4:15pm L Week 3 BYE Oct 1 San Francisco 1:00pm W Oct 8 @Arizona 4:05pm W Oct 15 @Pittsburgh 4:15pm L Oct 22 San Diego 1:00pm W Oct 29 Seattle 1:00pm L Nov 5 @St. Louis 1:00pm W Nov 12 @Miami 1:00pm L Nov 19 Oakland 1:00pm W Nov 23 Denver 8:00pm W Dec 3 @Cleveland 1:00pm W Dec 10 Baltimore 1:00pm W Dec 17 @San Diego 4:05pm L Dec 23 @Oakland 8:00pm W Dec 31 Jacksonville 1:00pm W |
Hang on let me check the schedule again....11!
|
I edited the thread starter, to include the schedule....
|
Add Woodson or Law in FA. Draft Hali, and Bing (trade up, if we must) the end of April. We sweep the home slate; and lose to Pittsburg and Miami on the Road. That's it. 14-2, with homefield advantage throughout the playoffs. We finish 17-2, with the Hunt and Lombardi trophies where they belong.
:bong: |
Wow... this didn't take long.
|
We have the potential to be 14-2, but I see us ****ing up in some games on the road and losing to teams we shouldnt as we usually do, so I will say 11-5.
|
10-6
11-5 with some breaks.... we suck 9-7 or 8-8 without breaks... |
My completely non-biased view... :) ... Depending on how the Chargers do with Rivers, this again could be just a 2-team race between Denver and KC in my opinion. I don't think Oakland is going to be better than a .500 ball club. San Diego has talent, lots of it... but I can see Rivers struggling, especially early.
I think Denver and KC can realistically top 10 wins with their schedules... I ran through Denver's schedule earlier and it's hard for me to honestly point to a repeat of 13 wins. I can see 10, maybe 11 ... but 12 would surprise me. That being said... I see this thing going down to the wire with KC. Get 11 wins and I think that wins the division this year. I think every team is improving, with SD being questionable to me for reasons stated above. Oakland with A Brooks at QB? Wow... I just don't know what to think. KC catches Cincy at a good time. @ Denver in week 2 isn't good for KC. Then you have San Fran - easy and @ AZ, which could be surprisingly good with that offense. @ Pit, followed by the Chargers and Seahawks at home (both tough), then @ the Rams and @ the Dolphins... Weeks 7-10 are going to be a tough stretch of games with little margin for error. (Yes, Denver has similar concerns) Sep 10 Cincinnati 1:00pm W Sep 17 @Denver 4:15pm L Week 3 BYE Oct 1 San Francisco 1:00pm W Oct 8 @Arizona 4:05pm W Oct 15 @Pittsburgh 4:15pm L Oct 22 San Diego 1:00pm W Oct 29 Seattle 1:00pm L Nov 5 @St. Louis 1:00pm W Nov 12 @Miami 1:00pm L Nov 19 Oakland 1:00pm W Nov 23 Denver 8:00pm W Dec 3 @Cleveland 1:00pm W Dec 10 Baltimore 1:00pm W Dec 17 @San Diego 4:05pm L Dec 23 @Oakland 8:00pm W Dec 31 Jacksonville 1:00pm W Two of the last 3 on the road in the division could be tough. |
12-4
I have us losing at Denver, at Pittsburgh, at Miami, and at San Diego. The Denver and Seattle home games could be huge swing games. |

didn't we play miami in miami last year, the game that got moved to friday night because of the hurricane
|
ANYTHING but 13-3 with homefield throughout the playoffs, plz!!!
|
MY pick is 11-5...I would say 12-4 but they will choke somewhere. I would be happy with 10-6 again, surely they wouldnt miss the playoffs again with that...would they? They will split with the Donkeys ..AGAIN,split with the Dolts...sweep Oakland. Lose to some team like the 49'ers out of nowhere.

Come on people. There's still plenty of room on the 14-2 bandwagon.

Reasons we will be lucky to break .500
The offseason we don't spend money New head coach (would not matter who really) Old Defenive coordinator kept Inexperienced Offensive coordinator Offense weakened by loss of TRich and aging veterans Play not to lose mentality of Herm Edwards No significant upgrades on defense Significant downgrade at #2 CB Another killer schedule I predict 7-9 (to be modified after offseason is complete (especially the draft) |

And we might, MIGHT lose AT San Diego, but no way does Phillip Rivers come in here and win. Also disagree about Seattle, St. Louis, and Cleveland. |

I'm going with 11-5 but it could change in August.

Geez man. At least have a little optimism!!!! I looked at the schedule and put together 12-4. Then I remembered it was the Chiefs and changed it to 11-5. ROFL We are always good for one loss to a team we have no business losing too. Cleveland or AZ. |

My 8 ball indicates that my personal optimism is at an all time low. |
Quote:
Yeah, but anything can happen with this team. We're going to win the Super Bowl against the 49ers like I just did in Madden 63-24. |

My 8 ball and I will take this under advisement. :D |

Why is that? The start of Royals baseball gettin to ya already? ROFL |

You are both correct as confirmed by my 8 ball. |

Isn't it great to always know we can count on the Royals? :shake: |

We can count on them for something. I love driving by both of the stadiums when I go to KC. It just wouldn't be the same if both stadiums weren't there. |
Quote:
Can't argue with that. I love seeing the same look of awe on my sons face that I used to have when I was his age. |

Well damn I always thought you were my age. I guess it never caught my attention until you said something about your son. I was confused by you saying your son is amazed by the view of the stadiums. I was like wow he must've had his son when he was like 13. |

I remember the last year they had Johnny Damon; I went to a game with some close friends. They were behind but had battled back and by the bottom of the 8th we were all tied up. Then they bring out their hot stuff closer, I can't even remember the guys name, to pitch in the top of the ninth. The very first two batters and the guy gives up back to back homers; I mean the guy threw two, TWO, pitches and just like that we're down two runs again. Well at that point the booos are raining down big time; people are yelling at the top of their lungs "You suck!", and we leave. Well we get back to the hotel, and are watching ESPN. Low and behold Damon hits a three run homer in the bottom of the ninth to win the game. :banghead: |
Laz.
We should be able to beat Cincy, STL and the Browns. |
11-5

Hey everyone, I'm new to the Planet. This is actually my first post on here.
As for our record in 2006, I think it comes down to how much progress Herm can make with our defense (assuming he leaves the offense alone). I'm betting we turn the corner by week 5. I think we will end up 11-5, but 13-3 is not out of the question. We've got to get some defensive pressure up front, and we seriously need some depth on the O-Line. I also think it would be awesome to see us convert to more of a 3-4, considering the speed of our linebackers. The way I see it, we couldn't do much worse defensively, so why not give it a shot? Looking forward to the season!! |

You are probably right about the D line, but I think (when all are healthy), our 'backers could be perfect for the system. Gun has hinted that we are going to see the 3-4 quite a bit. We definitely need D line help though. Does anyone know of any good prospects in the draft that might fall to us early on?

I think last year we should have won one or two more games, with the way we were playing toward the end of the season. But nothing has happened this offseason to make me think we have gotten better. I think we have gotten worse, and I'm not sure who we could end up with in the draft that could change my mind about it. |
We will see what happens between now and opening day, but right now I will go with the same number I went with last year which is 10-6.

Yep, that's pretty much how I see it as well except I'll say 8-8. We will lose some on Offense and the _efense is not good enough to pick up the slack. I don't care if we did sign a defensive-minded head coach - if you don't have talent it's not going to matter. As things stand now, our D-line is pretty much total $hit and we have significant weaknesses in all segments of the _efense. (Bell at OLB, Wesley and # 2 CB in the Secondary) We just have way too many holes to fill on that side of the ball. It has been that way for a few seasons now and we are standing pat once again. The last time we stood pat it cost us and we're still paying for that mistake with a poor product and crappy players who cost too much to cut. |

Without considering the schedule I would have said that the Chiefs are a sub .500 team. New coach, new scheme, loss of the best OC in the NFL, no significant upgrades as of yet, offense getting older, etc.
We all know how misleading schedules look in April, but it doesn't look as bad as past years. I wouldn't be surprised if the Chiefs only won 7 games, nor would I be shocked if they rode an easy schedule to 10 wins. If they do make the playoffs I don't think (at this point) they can make it out of the first round with a victory. |

Hey, I'm not that bad. At least I have us at .500. :grouphug: |

I really don't see a draft pick making a huge impact. KC could use a corner, but even the best rookie corners struggle at times. It would be good if a rookie (Tye Hill) came in and played at the same level as Warfield last year. Hill would of course have a much higher ceiling, but his first year play probably wouldn't exceed what Warfield did last year. Tamba Hali could be a good player, but my gut tells me Gunther would still start Hicks. |
