Home opener in the Bronx.

cmh6476 04-11-2006 11:08 AM

yankees suck, go royals

doomy3 04-11-2006 11:08 AM

Is this game on Dish? Looks like it is blacked out on Extra Innings...

It's on RSTN. ESPN tomorrow.

petegz28 04-11-2006 11:26 AM

Well Mays had em 2 outs, 0-2 and gave up the long shot.

shakesthecat 04-11-2006 11:26 AM

Mays picking up right where he left off last week.

leviw 04-11-2006 11:26 AM

3-0 Yanks, End of 1

ACtually it wasn't a bad pitch. Steroids helped Giambi there I am sure. Plus the plate Ump has already given 2 pitches 2 the Yanks...one on each side of the ball

petegz28 04-11-2006 11:33 AM

Missed the tag...thankfully

djplanb 04-11-2006 11:35 AM

so, is Mays this year's Lima - a guy who they'll let stay in the starting rotation far, far too long?

petegz28 04-11-2006 11:36 AM

RBI double by Teahan..3-1 Yanks

Really he didn't pitch bad...Giambi went down and got one and how it he got it out is beyond me. Personaly I thought the pitch looked good and after he hit I thought it woudl stay in...it wa a very low breaking ball...well out of the strike zone

Saulbadguy 04-11-2006 11:38 AM

**** the Skankees.

well, I'm just judging by his last outing. I don't really know what's going on today, just following on a game cast. but I thought going into today we had no chance to win because of Mays, though I'd be glad to be wrong.

cmh6476 04-11-2006 11:41 AM

5-4-3 dp

djplanb 04-11-2006 11:47 AM

Question: are the Royals making Wing pitch at least (taking some pitches)?

djplanb 04-11-2006 11:50 AM

btw, nice avatar by the thread starter.

banyon 04-11-2006 11:57 AM

Just tuned in.

Why should we expect any different when we overpay for other teams' mediocre fifth starters?

If Baird had some balls (or he could borrow some money from Glass to buy a pair), we'd be overpaying for a solid #1 or #2 or at least someone with legitimate upside.

Baird should be fired before this season is up for how he demolished what remained of our promising young arms.

sedated 04-11-2006 11:59 AM

score?

Eleazar 04-11-2006 12:02 PM

Can we go one Royals thread without all the sandy bergina boo-hooing about mean ol' Glass who won't lose 20 million a year on the Royals? Are we really bringing anything new by sniffling about it every other post? Just once?

Eleazar 04-11-2006 12:02 PM

3-1 Yankees... Giambi homerun. Teahen doubled in the Royals' only tally thus far.

petegz28 04-11-2006 12:03 PM

Mays has walked the bases loaded with 2 out

Would it be a Royals thread without it? :)

petegz28 04-11-2006 12:04 PM

Methinks he will walk in the 4th run

petegz28 04-11-2006 12:06 PM

3rd inning and the Royals bullpen goes to work as Mays walks in the 4th run with his 4th walk of the inning.

petegz28 04-11-2006 12:07 PM

Mays -- 7 innings pitched (6 2/3) 10 runs allowed

Yes. An enjoyable one.

Eleazar 04-11-2006 12:07 PM

Joe Mays = Albie Lopez

petegz28 04-11-2006 12:08 PM

In comes Mike Wood. Once again Allard "Head In His Ass" Baird showcases another one of his classic bullshit signings. We could of kept Lima or J.P. Howell for this shit.

Well that is one way to minimize giving up the long ball.

djplanb 04-11-2006 12:10 PM

it will be a miracle if Mays ever gets through five innings.

petegz28 04-11-2006 12:10 PM

Thank God Mike Wood knows how to throw strikes.

No.

djplanb 04-11-2006 12:11 PM

should have just started Wood, might be tied up at this point.

petegz28 04-11-2006 12:12 PM

After 2 outings like the ones Mays has had I would consider it being time to send him down already. Or somthing

Pete

Relax. Joe Mays will be gone soon enough, when Greinke and Howell get back into form. BTW, Howell had a REALLY nice first outing in Omaha.

petegz28 04-11-2006 12:14 PM

vckcchiefs04 04-11-2006 12:16 PM

E. BROWN!!!! Niiiiiiiiiiiiiiice!

Eleazar 04-11-2006 12:17 PM

Now we are getting some offense.

Sad fact: We have trailed first in every game this year.

vckcchiefs04 04-11-2006 12:19 PM

petegz28 04-11-2006 12:20 PM

Yeah I think we have only had 1 game with a scoreless first inning.

djplanb 04-11-2006 12:21 PM

at least Wing is almost as bad as Mays...

djplanb 04-11-2006 12:21 PM

Wing, Wang, whatevs.

petegz28 04-11-2006 12:24 PM

Buck --RBI 4-4 Tie game!

Mr. Laz 04-11-2006 12:24 PM

vckcchiefs04 04-11-2006 12:25 PM

J BUCK!!!!! Woohoo!

petegz28 04-11-2006 12:25 PM

Good inning now let's kick some Yankee ass!

vckcchiefs04 04-11-2006 12:26 PM

Good round offense! Come on M. Wood. Shut them down! :cuss:

shakesthecat 04-11-2006 12:27 PM

Sure is nice to see some fight in this years team. Nice job by the bottom part of the order!

Buck, I' take back most of the bad things I said about you last week.
I promise to direct any further angst on my part towards Joe Mays.

petegz28 04-11-2006 12:28 PM

Mike Wood untih the 6th then bring in Elemer and Burgos

mcan 04-11-2006 12:29 PM

This is where I like Bell's management of pitchers more than Pena.

Your starter isn't pitching well, it's obvious to everybody that his confidence is shaken... Don't forfeit the game and try to let your guy work it out. Get him out of there and he can work it out with a fresh start next time.

petegz28 04-11-2006 12:33 PM

You kow you have it rough when Bernie Williams is your #9 hitter...

petegz28 04-11-2006 12:36 PM

Great nwo Wood can't thrown strikes all the sudden

petegz28 04-11-2006 12:39 PM

BERROA!!!!!!

vckcchiefs04 04-11-2006 12:40 PM

nice one Sheff! Clutch hitting and baserunning!!!

mcan 04-11-2006 12:40 PM

Looked like a bad call at second... But I'll take it. Way to get out of that inning, and good job to Mike Wood for coming back from 3-0... With the bases loaded, he made his man chase one at his shins and popped him up.

Saulbadguy 04-11-2006 12:41 PM

DP!

vckcchiefs04 04-11-2006 12:41 PM

LET'S GO ROYALS!!! LET'S GO ROYALS!!! LET'S GO ROYALS!!!

vckcchiefs04 04-11-2006 12:43 PM

Get it in gear Sweeney! Do it now.

vckcchiefs04 04-11-2006 12:43 PM

REGGIE REGGIE REGGIE!!!

Makes up for the calls the homeplate Ump made for the Yanks.

djplanb 04-11-2006 12:47 PM

anyone think maybe someone other than Costa should lead off until DeJesus gets back?

petegz28 04-11-2006 12:48 PM

So I guess ince Giambi and Bonds are playing steroids are legal in baseball?

If Berroa would learn some patience he could until David returned.

Any sugestions? No other person on the team comes close to leadoff material.

Walks suck.... but thankfully Wood knows how to pitch around his walks right now, Mays showed he can't at the moment.
