Lelie a Falcon, Duckett a Redskin

ESPN News is reporting that Lelie is a Falcon and the skins get Duckett while the Donk's get a draft pick. I will link it when it comes up.

Why in the world would the Redskins need TJ Duckett when they have Portis, Betts, and Cartwright?

Portis' shoulder must be worse then they've let on.

Al Bundy 08-22-2006 07:37 PM

I'm not sure there was talk of the Falcons moving Duckett earlier this week to the Eagles.

Spicy McHaggis 08-22-2006 07:37 PM

Interesting. The Finneran loss must have bothered them more than they let on. That and it looks like Jerious Norwood has made TJ very expendable.

Does Duckett get a new deal or is he still a FA at the end of the year?

Al Bundy 08-22-2006 07:38 PM

So far I havent seen anything about a new deal for him.

One of the reasons the Donks lead the division: they keep creating a surplus of draft picks while the Chiefs habitually give theirs away.

Yea, they turn their bust first round picks into draft picks, while we just keep ours on the roster.

Duckett provides the Skins with a nice change up and a brutal runner.

For them, very nice move. Duckett has been held back by the unwillingness of Atlanta to commit to a single HB....

They already have Ladell Betts, who is basically a poor man's Duckett.

With Betts and Cartwright behind Portis, I'd think RB was the last thing they needed to be dealing picks for.

They certainly overpaid for him, in my opinion. A 3rd and and 4th to the Broncos OR if the Skins finish with a worse record than the Broncos the two teams swap 1st rounders. That could potentially be a huge price for Duckett if the Skins for some reason go in the tank....

The idiotic skins front office......
Why can't they get ripped off by someone other than Denver?

The Skins better not suck this year, the last thing we need is Denver to get another high first rounder.

The only thing that could work against Denver is if Washington ends up just below Denver in the draft order.

It would be awesome if Denver gave away Lelie to move up only 1 spot in the first round.

Yeah, they turned their former #1 pick into a third. Good for them. Of course I wouldn't have a problem turning a former #1 on the Chiefs into a draft pick. I'm not saying who I'm referring to but his name rhymes with Syan Rims.

I was going to make some wisecrack about them turning a #1 into a #3. But then I remembered Ryan Sims. :(

Broncos would still get a 3rd round pick, which is about right for Lelie, especially considering he is a free agent to be.

ChiefsCountry 08-22-2006 09:19 PM

Wow, the Falcons and Broncos do a three way trade again.

BucEyedPea 08-22-2006 09:20 PM

Ducketts been looking real good in preseason too. And there was talk about tradin him to the Skins there. I didn't think they'd really do it though.

Mile High Mania 08-22-2006 09:31 PM

There's an old saying "be careful what you wish for"... Lelie wants to be the #1 guy, so they trade him to Vick. Nice.

I wish him the best, it's too bad it didn't work out in Denver. I like how Snyder feels like he has to send picks to Denver every year, it's very nice of him.

The picks Denver could receive is incredible...

Chieftain58 08-22-2006 09:47 PM

I wonder if Lelie will have to pay back all the money he was fined

Steve Sewell 08-22-2006 10:41 PM

Shanahan and Sundquist are pinching themselves right about now...

They had a chance to upgrade and they took advantage of it.

Can't blame them for that.

Indeed. The Chiefs need to start trading soley with NFC teams who apparently have no concept of value.

Skins and Falcons get "rent-a-players" and Denver gets a first day pick. :shake:

Part of the deal is that Lelie has to give the Broncos something like $1 MIL. Looks this could be a pretty good deal for us. The payoff could be huge. Go Cowboys/Giants/Eagles.
