Since most all of you have been declared "blue collar" by our resident nobility, I thought I might appeal to all of you to sign a petition to talk Tim Grunhard out of retiring and come back for just one more year!!!

Especially in light of the comments he made in The Star about the fans here, don't you think we all should let him know how we feel about him.

I know it is a personal decision and may have just as much to do with wanting more time with his family, but I think we should leave no doubt what we as the fnas of KC think about him as a player and person of the community.

No way, let him go. I'm sure we'll find a suitable replacement on the "all idiot team", being that packfool is such the GM and all.

I'm not sure who this nobility is and what the 'blue collar' talk is about but here's my question.

Has Grunnhard ever stated for the record that he may leave/retire? I haven't seen anything printed. Not living in KC, I could've missed something but I'd think the Star and/or KCChiefs.com would've covered it.

All the talk I've heard has been from third parties and has been strictly speculation.

I missed Grunhards comments to the Star. What were they?

RaiderHader:

Here they are from an article from the KC Star today:

"The euphoria from Sunday's game had veteran center Tim Grunhard, who is expected to retire after 11 seasons, re-evaluating his future.

"I'm ecstatic about the way we ended the season at home," Grunhard said. "Our team stood up and played well and never quit. Denver came out with the intention of winning the AFC West and we took it to 'em.

"It speaks volumes about the guys here, and it's going to make my decision so much more difficult....I love this crowd, and I love the people of Kansas City."

Thanks Mark. I would have looked it up myself if I had known it was in todays paper. For some reason I can't explain I thought it was something from the past.

Bringing this one to the top.
I'm all for this. The guy is not only a stud, he's one of the few veteran leaders on this team (some WILL leave after this season). He should've been a pro-bowl center several times. With all the losses to the o-line over the past two years, he and Will Shields have held it together. I want him to stay.
Please give us one more year Grunny.

Add me to the list in favor of having him back. Hell Jim Otto of Oakland played until his late 40s and was still a huge part of any Raider success. I think he will negotiate with Carl, and if the package is not too embarassing, he will resign. I haven't seen anyone better, on our team anyway.

Please stay Grunny. We need more fat, white kids from Chicago.

58Forever 12-19-2000 09:39 AM

We want Grunny, we want Grunny....

But the question is does Carl and the Our Gang kids?....

I'd like to see Grunny play at least one more year here...I'd like his career to end on a high note and I have great expectations for next year...so what else is new?

Grunny,
You are the class of the KC Chiefs and the glue that holds the offense together. I love your work ethic and the leadership that you provide, not only on the team, but in your community as well. It is you and people like you that make me a football fan and particularly, a CHIEFS fan. Although I am not there on Sunday at Arrowhead to cheer you on, I do so from my living room every Sunday you play.

I hope that you return for one more year. A year that I believe will be a breakout year for our Chiefs. I want you to be apart of that! I believe the team needs you in order for them to have a successful year. But more than this, I want to see you make it to the big game--an honor that I truly believe that you deserve.

If we don't get the pleasure of seeing you in Red and Gold next year, then I wish you and your family all of God's greatest blessings. THANKS FOR EVERYTHING!!!

Grunny--

What Idaho said in post #22. I have nothing to add to it. Very good post, sums up my feelings exactly.
