****Official Game one 2006 ALCS*****

Here we go.

JBucc 10-10-2006 06:13 PM

Go Yankees!

2112 10-10-2006 06:23 PM

Is this really the official thread???

'Hamas' Jenkins 10-10-2006 06:28 PM

Zito should have a pretty good game, considering how many of the Tigers are free swingers.

'Hamas' Jenkins 10-10-2006 06:33 PM

This broadcast would be exponentially more watchable if Pinella would snap at least once every three innings and start thrashing the announce booth, cursing out Brennaman, and tearing up the stat sheets.

As far as I know, I looked over the board and didn't find one.

I am the official A's fan of this board, so yes, it is official.

OK..Thanks for officially clarifying that

He is god awful as an announcer

Is he the guy that does the Yankees games with that broad?

Calcountry 10-10-2006 06:56 PM

Zito is rolling so far. Top of 3rd and one out.

'Hamas' Jenkins 10-10-2006 06:58 PM

The fans of Detroit only burned two city blocks instead of their usual 8 after the victory celebration this weekend.

I will make a prediction: Zito will sign wit the Yankees for 20 million+/season, multi year deal.

He sucks..I do not want him!!!

I will go with youth..Phillip Hughes

crispystl 10-10-2006 07:00 PM

What I was gonna say though was I really like Joe Morgan. He is the voice of the mlb playoffs imo.

I'd be willing to sig bet that it's closer to 15. They'll probably make a stronger push for Schmidt anyway, since the Yanks tend to prefer pitchers clearly on the tail end of their careers.

What is that thing he does when the Yankees win. Totally obnoxious.

:D

Good, hopefully he doesn't fare too well in FA, but the odds of the A's retaining him are slim.

I heard the Mets are going to go after him hard

Joe Morgan sucks.

He is the only one who knows how to play baseball, and he makes sure to let you know it, three times per play as he explains what happened, and then what should have happened.

Calcountry 10-10-2006 07:05 PM

62 pitches already, Zito is laboring. Not good.

Frankly, they can have him. IMO he is way overrated.

This game is a case in point, he is one pitch away from blowing the game. He diddles and dallyes way to much. If teams are patient with him, they can beat him.

Calcountry 10-10-2006 07:08 PM

Zito needs to man up right now or this thing is over.

Calcountry 10-10-2006 07:08 PM

Now watch him diddle, up 0-2

That voice part Crispy refers to I agree with, but pure anouncing skills definitely need work as well as knowledge in certain areas.

Calcountry 10-10-2006 07:09 PM

See, he doesn't have a knockout pitch.

Calcountry 10-10-2006 07:10 PM

WHEW, thank you. Time to get our long reliever(starting pitcher) some work if he gets in trouble in the next inning.

He sucks..his only claim to fame was beating the Yankees as a rookie..

The Red Sox owned his ass..he cant even exceed 90 mph on the gun with his fastball

He can be a great announcer, if he would just learn to help his audience enjoy the game by enjoying it himself.

He is not our coach, this is not a clinic, this is people usually popping a cold one trying to be entertained, and he does a poor job of that so far.

I think he has improved slightly this year over last though, so , as an announcer, he is "ascending".

You mean his changeup. He doesn't have a fastball.

Yeah I think thats what I like his voice just makes me think playoffs. I can't argue that his pure analysis couldn't use a little work though.

'Hamas' Jenkins 10-10-2006 07:22 PM

Pudge just beat that ball like he caught it barebacking his wife.

Or the whole winning a Cy Young thing :shake:

That analysis can start to make his voice sound like fingernails scraping on a chalkboard.

Calcountry 10-10-2006 07:26 PM

Zito is getting poked.

Calcountry 10-10-2006 07:27 PM

83 pitches already, and 3 runs.

Calcountry 10-10-2006 07:27 PM

Make that 4 runs, toaste.

tk13 10-10-2006 07:27 PM

Tigers look like the team to beat.

Simply Red 10-10-2006 07:27 PM

Damn Inge is a good hitter.

'Hamas' Jenkins 10-10-2006 07:27 PM

Inge is just killing Zito.

Calcountry 10-10-2006 07:28 PM

Macha tends to leave his pitchers in way too long, like he has the offense to overcome this.

Macha has to get him out of there..it's batting practice

I would definitely give them the edge. Ellis is out, and their manager is better. Their pitching is better, and their team average is way better.

Calcountry 10-10-2006 07:30 PM

90 pitches

Calcountry 10-10-2006 07:30 PM

Stick a fork in him.

Didn't he win 22 or 23 games that year? I know wins are overrated, but goddamn.

So did Phil Neikro..and he sucked his entire career too

'Hamas' Jenkins 10-10-2006 07:31 PM

Even the flares are dropping on Barry. He disintegrated in a hurry. Ouch.

It's not like we don't have a deep bullpen. I don't understand Macha leaving him in there to get wasted.

He just bought Grady Little's "Playoff Success" instruction manual.

Yeah remember I am exposed mostly to NL here in the S.E. . Well Inge is hitting well tonight.

No prob....I had to manage one of my friends' fantasy teams for him this year, and I looked at his stats and thought "goddamn, this guy fucking sucks", and cut him loose (he was in the low .220's at the point). Shortly after the AS break, he went bat shit (for Inge standards) and got up to the .250 point :banghead:

Calcountry 10-10-2006 08:00 PM

I come back to the puter and it is only the top of the 5th after a long lull, but no runs on the line score, so I go, oh great, they must have left a bunch of dudes on and failed to score. So I back the gameday scroll up and we get second and third no outs, then a coaching visit then K K (K)

What a choke job, I think I will go back to lifting 50 pound weights now.

kcxiv 10-10-2006 08:36 PM

Detroit pitchers throw damn freaking heat.

2112 10-11-2006 07:08 PM

The A's take the lead 3-1!!!!!

tk13 10-11-2006 08:07 PM

Alexis Gomez with a 2 run homer... 4 RBI on the day. I think he's officially taken the mantle of former Royal to explode in this year's playoffs.

2112 10-14-2006 03:34 PM

Bump

3-0 A's

Calcountry 10-14-2006 06:57 PM

Congratulations to the Tigers, if they play like that in the WS, it is already over.

Crown em.

See you in 2007, it has been a great ride, nothing to hang my head about.
