SD hasn't given up a 100yd rusher in 17 games

According to Adam Schefter on the NFL Network, they haven't. He said it was the longest streak in the NFL.

The interesting part is that he said this while they were discussing SD @ KC and how LJ would do. And it's kind of weird, because I would swear that I remember the Chargers coming to KC in week 16 last year, and this same Larry Johnson guy they were talking about ran for 130 some yards that day.

Maybe I'm crazy?

Halfcan 10-19-2006 02:35 PM

Yep LJ torched them.

JBucc 10-19-2006 02:37 PM

Schefter's and idiot.

Red Dawg 10-19-2006 02:38 PM

They are screwed now

especially when the announcers start saying that. LJ will get a guaranteed 150.

131 yard rushing and 48 recieving.

Schefter couldn't lose much more credibility since most of us never gave him much anyway.

:shake:

.

Recorded 32 carries for 131 yards with a four-yard TD and added four receptions for 48 yards with a 28-yard TD vs. San Diego (12/24) to earn AFC Offensive Player of the Week honors for the second time this season

I think he meant 17 non-divisional preseason games and/or regular season games against either the Cowboys or Browns.

That was LJ's best game as far as running angry, breaking tackles, running guys into the mud.

RealSNR 10-19-2006 03:19 PM

whatever. I just hope Solari throws some on first down this game. That was abysmal against the Steelers

icepick64 10-19-2006 04:48 PM

I guess they are including San Diego's super bowl run.

Deberg_1990 10-19-2006 04:51 PM

I havent seen anyone mention this but isnt this Rivers 1st start at Arrowhead?? I think we all know the history of 1st time starts at Arrowhead for young QB's.

I tend to think Rivers won't be bothered that much. He's never started a game at Arrowhead, but he's been on the sideline while the Chargers played here the last few years. He probably has some understanding of what it's like.

At the very least, it has to give him a little advantage over guys like, say, Alex Smith, who had probably never even seen Arrowhead before he started here the other week.

CoMoChief 10-19-2006 05:09 PM

We dont have an Oline anymore. We are extremely predictable on offense, no way LJ gets 100yds on SD.

JBucc 10-19-2006 05:10 PM

Let's just have LJ stand still while the entire SD defense runs by him and then he can go for the TD!

teedubya 10-19-2006 05:14 PM

I personally guarantee that LJ gets AT LEAST 40 yards rushing on sunday.

siberian khatru 10-19-2006 05:20 PM

I guarantee LJ will get 100 yards Sunday ...

... if the Chiefs give him 50 carries.

Sad but true.

We need slant routes and quick screens to open up the middle. Actually we need to use the pass to open up the run.

Will we??

MichaelH 10-19-2006 05:41 PM

The sad thing about a guy like Adam Schefter is that there are people that believe what he says. And if the Chargers hold LJ to 50 yards this Sunday, it will be known as fact and the truth fiction.

BigRock 10-19-2006 06:03 PM

You know, I'm starting to think that nobody outside of KC actually saw that Chargers game last year.

We pretty much dominated them, keeping our (slim) playoff hopes alive while eliminating them from contention, yet they were still everybody's "best team not to make the playoffs". LJ ran for over 130 yards on them, but apparently that didn't count against their streak of not allowing a 100 yard rusher. Kris Wilson broke out with 3 TD catches and celebrated one by knocking down Merriman and dry-humping him, but you never see clips of that on TV.

Okay, one of those didn't happen. But it's like that game has been erased from the record or something.

Hammock Parties 10-19-2006 06:11 PM

Everytime I see Schefter he looks like he just got done snorting cocaine. He's also about 5'2"

The only thing worse than an idget is a midget idget.

Unless, maybe, it's a figgety midget idget. Those little buggers are annoying.

Another thing that hasnt gotten much run is that LT doesnt usually have that good of games against us. For whatever reason, we usually keep him in check.

blueballs 10-19-2006 06:36 PM

Kotter will have a new
login to compete with Hodge

keg in kc 10-19-2006 07:36 PM

Every game this year has gone pretty much the way I expected it to, although last week's blowout was a bit worse than I thought we'd lose. Either way, if the rest of the season follows suit, we're going to win the next two at home to keep the emotional yo-yo going, and be 5-3 at the halfway point after beating St. Loser in the dome.

I think there's a chance we beat the Chargers badly on Sunday.

Hammock Parties 10-19-2006 07:41 PM

You're more optimistic than me. This game feels like we're going to get F'd in the A at home, sort of like Carolina in 2004. Or worse. I'm predicting an ugly game. The Boo Birds will be out.

We're ****ed. The defense will have a good game, but they'll wilt under the tremendous pressure the offense puts on them. The offense isn't going to do shit. This sucks.

That Carolina game was the last game I attended in person.

I'll be at Arrowhead on Sunday.

The offense is 100% dependent on what LJ does. Its built around him and Herm refuses to change things up regardless of how many times teams shut him down.

Huard is is extremely limited...

and yes, it does suck....

LJ will break an 80 yard run, get 21 yards on the next 30 carries and KC loses 27-17.

I expected a game like last week sometime in the first half of the season, it's part of the turnaround process 99% of the time, and that's what we're doing on defense, going from one of the worst back to respectable. There's going to be a slip or two, and that was it. Couple that with the defending champions playing at home with their backs on the wall wanting to prove a point and you get what we got.

I'm not a believer in the Chargers, and I think we'll be an angry team after last week. LT traditionally doesn't run well against us (IIRC he's had 2 100-yard games against us in his career, both losses). They'll have to win it with the passing game, and I think Rivers will be on his ass as much as he's upright.

Yeah, the Chiefs have done a pretty good job keeping LT in check but don't forget, the gameplan has normally been to pass first, run second agains the Chiefs for the past couple of years.

CupidStunt 10-20-2006 01:47 AM

The Chargers are just going to destroy our running game. Jamal Williams will kill Casey Wiegmann.
