Bryant Gumble???
God I almost stopped watching the game due to him. They really should look for a new play-by-play guy to be up there with Collinsworth. He was putting me to sleep.
|
Yea, it was mentioned all last night how bad he was. Honestly, im not sure ive ever heard worse before? He needs to stay a studio guy because hes good at that. Play-by-play he has zero skills.
|
It was kind of scary, no emotion.
I wonder if he treats general and important conversation like it's a newscast, as well? |
they kinda look like each other too

He is terrible doing footbal.
Everyone should send email to NFL Network with all the money they spent hyping this game... this is what they could get for announcers..That is terrible. |
He seemed like this was the first game he had ever watched. He was SOO inaccurate with down and distance, scores, names, he said Tatum Bell was out with a thigh problem....it has been his TOES that are sprained, not his hip. I could go on and on. You have to be pretty bad to make Collinsworth look good. Heck, Kornheiser the new MNF man did better his first time out.
|
Anyone catch how he said last night's game was an NFC West division matchup?
Being said, I'm not too critical, because I made the same errors as he did when I did play-by-play on the radio for eight weeks. It isn't as easy as people think. Especially when you're almost a good 50+ yards away from the action and you don't have a spotter. |

"You put a banana in the tailpipe?"

Yep!
BLAH, BLAH, BLAH! |
Yeah I would have put MItch and Lenny on but I am down at the lake and couldn' get them. THose guys where terrible. They couldn't even get the first down stripe to stay on all the time.

Gummie is to political..hard to call a game without emotion..needs to go back to HBO, where its safe to be correct without complete knowledge...........

worst announcing all year
nfl network is a joke we have 2 suffer cause they dont have there shit together?! i dont get it here is a bitch mail address http://www.nfl.com/help/emailtech |
I agree that Bryant Gumbel lacked any emotion in his call of the game, but I did think Collinsworth did pretty alright, at least he did not sound like a bullfrog in the second half. Sad part is how ESPN basically demoted Mike Patrick and he would be by far the better choice for play-by-play guy than Gumbel would. Don't get me wrong, I like Bryant Gumbel's sports journalism pedigree and absolutely love Real Sports, but he is not a good play-by-play guy, yet. Maybe he could improve by the Raider's game, knock on wood.

The problem was Gumble is, and always has been, a douche bag with an agenda, who lets his mom rot away in the slums of Chicago while he makes millions asking hard question to has-been athletes on a low-rated HBO show, while taking racist stances against blacks, even though he is black but pretends to be white, then uses big words in simple sentences attempting to make himself sound overly educated but, instead, confusing his audience. He's a high-life prick who wouldn't be missed if he died. On top of that, he was not meant to do play-by-play of any kind, and it showed through in a big way last night. Other than that, any guy who can make me want to hear more of Chris Collinsworth for three hours has, in a way, achieved something. |

I like his monotone report it like news style. It is who he is. #1 rule in broadcasting, be yourself. Many great broadcasters have given that tip. I guess we can't be happy with anyone on the tube. :D |
