If you were Al Davis.....

Wouldn't you try to hire Marty at all costs?!? I mean Marty had wtfpwnd the Raiders for ever. I'm glad Al isn't playing with a full deck.

milkman 02-14-2007 08:26 PM

If I were Al Davis, I'd kill myself if I wasn't already dead.

And Marty would never work for Al Davis.

big nasty kcnut 02-14-2007 08:29 PM

Al davis is dead he died 15 years ago but no one told him.

heh-- wish I had photoshop and was good at it, cause I'd totally make an al davis 'weekend at bernie's' photoshop

and marty would NEVER work for al davis: he's too independent, and al wouldn't give up power to a coach (hell, having gruden KILLED him)... and marty has an avowed hatred of the raiders

crazycoffey 02-14-2007 08:32 PM

would I have to wear anything weird in this fantasy of yours?

That's pretty funny nut.

I think it'd be a good move by AD and a bad one by Marty.

Triple HEE-HEE!!!

If I were Granpa Al, I'd be wanting to know why someone hasn't changed my jammies in a decade.

Marty (and all other coaches) are ho's. They all have a price and are no more loyal than the Neil Smith/Dale Carter's of the world.

Yeah, that's why Al D had settle for Lane Kiffen.

Who turned him down besides Sarkisian? It's clear Davis just wants a young offensive-minded head coach that he can influence. If he wanted Marty, he could get him. Just pay him the same amount that Snyder paid MS. Why would Parcells agree to coach the Cowboys, his former archrival? They all have a price.

You don't think Marty would jump at the chance to beat the Chiefs, Chargers, and Broncos twice a year?

No I don't.

Marty will not be a puppet, and Davis wants someone he will control.

milkman 02-14-2007 09:05 PM

Also consider the people that turned Davis down last year before he finally settled on Shell.

He couldn't lure Pat Hill away from Fresno St.

Freakin' Freno St.!

I disagree. Marty going to work for Dan Snyder showed that he has no pride. No different than Gunther coming back here to work for the guy who replaced him. All these guys have their sell-out price.

You still underestimate Marty's dislike for Al Davis and his controlling nature.

Besides right now the Raiders are nothing at all like a Marty team.

Why does Marty dislike Al Davis? I can understand Shanahan hating him, after Weird Al fired him and all, but I don't see why Marty would have anything personal against AD.

First article googling Marty hates Raiders, 4-5 paragraphs into it...

"Marty hates the Raiders. I don't know why," safety Terrence Kiel said. "He told us that last night. It's something personal."

There were a few stories from Chiefs players when he coached here that said he has a good ol fashioned hatred for Davis and the organization as a whole... I'll see if I can dig em up.

I was always under the impression Marty interviewed for a job with him, and Al pretty much laughed him out of Oakland (or LA) back in the day.

I have no idea if that is true or not, just seems like I heard that from Gretz or some other Chiefs talking head.

crazycoffey 02-14-2007 09:53 PM

alot of people seem to hate AD. Isn't Marcus Allen's dislike of the way AD treated him the reason he retired as a Chief, went to the HOF as a Chief?

I think I remember him saying that when he signed, that if he stayed with us for a year or more, whatever it was, he wouldn't retire as a Raider.

Marcus went into the Hall as both a Raider and a Chief.

Here's a mural he had on display the weekend of his induction. Just looks like blasphemy, if you ask me....

I found this from a doltz site
Marty is 20-6 vs Al lifetime

I guess he can't help going into the HOF as both, his career was in both, but he always wears his chiefs jersey at the probowl oldtimers flag football game.

I grew up in Colorado and my buddy and I cheered for the Raiders just to piss off our old men. When Allen came to KC I had just moved to MO and started to watch the Chiefs because of Allen.

I don't know if I should thank him or curse him for it.... At least the Raiders went to the SB in the last decade.

Rausch 02-14-2007 10:15 PM

Marty would retire first.

There's plenty of $#it I hate about Marty but the man does have some class...

Rausch 02-14-2007 10:16 PM

BTW I think the Cowboys or Steelers jobs would have been perfect for Marty.

Snyder spends tons of money on free agents trying to win a championship, but he doesn't interfere with the guys coaching his team.
