You Favorite SNL Character

This was one of the "4 Downs" questions at the end of NFL Total Access. Thought it would make good discussion. Mine would have to be Phil Hartmann's Anal Retentive Chef. I was tearing up when he was making sure the garbage didn't leak onto the other garbage.

Direckshun 03-01-2007 08:52 PM

Dana Carvey did nearly all of my favorites except for the top one:

Chris Farley's motivational speaker

It was really only funny the first time he did it, but my god I don't know if I've ever laughed so hard at the same thing over and over again.

Mr. Robinson, maybe?

And for some odd reason, those head-bobbing guys out on the town were always funny to me.

i do not remember the character and it is old timer but The one I remember most was the skit of the "British" (Julia Childs maybe?) cook and she stabbed her hand while doing a cooking show. Blood was squirting everywhere while they were trying to continue the show. Blood was hitting the ceiling and all over the food. I laughed my azz off.

I have not watched for a few years but will always remember that skit.

They had another one long ago when Julia Louis-Dreyfus was on the show. The Terminator came and stormed through the set looking for her. When he found her, he yelled that she should raise her arms. She did, and then he grabbed her breasts and left. I found that quite amusing.

arrowhead20 03-02-2007 06:48 AM

Gilda Radner was one of the funniert I've ever seen. She had the widest range of almost anyone ever on SNL. She was married to Gene Wilder of "Blazing Saddles" fame, and more. She died in '89 from ovarian cancer IIRC.

Dan Ackroyd played Julia Childs in the skit referred to earlier here.

There have been some funny people on SNL over the years but I think the original cast was best, the ground breakers.

PunkinDrublic 03-02-2007 08:48 AM

Canteen Boy the sketch where Alec Baldwin tries to put the moves on him on the camping trip.

Horatio Sands when he played Aaron Neville

dilligaf 03-02-2007 09:44 AM

The one where Matt Foley and Martin Larence were cell mates in prison and giving a Scared Straight lecture to some school kids. They kept arguing over who was who's biatch. I laughed my ass off.

Also when Chris Farley was auditioning for the Chippendales dancers.

I'm sorry to say I haven't seen much of the original cast's work. I was born in the late 70's so by the time I was old enough to watch the torch had been handed down to Adam Sandler, Chris Farley, Dana Carvey etc.
