New England revamps it's entire WR corp

I can't believe they signed Welker, Stallworth, and Washington. That's incredible for just one offseason. That is not including the Thomas pick up. The Patriots, not just Tom Brady, have been very busy this off season.

I may have to target him in my next FFL draft.

wow. A three cast offs.

Mr. Laz 03-12-2007 05:24 PM

washington only has a 300k signing bonus ........ he has to make the team to get the contract.

FAX 03-12-2007 05:25 PM

It's amazing what you can do in FA when you actually have a shot at winning the SB.

Yeah, I'm ok with all this.

Mecca 03-12-2007 07:24 PM

Kelley Washington......I liked him alot the year he got drafted. Phenomal talent, if you get him to play up to it he can be a quality starting WR in this league.

You have just ensured that he will never amount to anything.

Mecca 03-12-2007 07:34 PM

LOL.......I loved Lee Evans also, he sure sucks huh?

crazycoffey 03-12-2007 07:59 PM

I hope the new signings mess up brady's timing and confidence....

milkman 03-12-2007 08:01 PM

Didn't Tom Brady just recently change his receiver as well?

Cntrygal 03-12-2007 08:25 PM

damn

Unfortunately, and although I'm certain others here do, I don't keep a list of available free agents on my desk, Mr. (Zach). However, I don't think an all linebacker team is going to get anyone's attention other than, perhaps, the folks at the Guinness Book Of World Records.

If there are, and I'm certain there must be, a halfway decent DT and/or wide out available, it would be nice to think we would discuss a contract with them.

Am I wrong, or (Ty Law notwithstanding) does it not seem we are less active in FA compared to the Goats, Niners, Pats, etc.?

Pats have two first round picks, too.

Yeah but they will probably squander them on players that can actually help them.

I think this means the sun is about to set for mumbles..I think Bellichick is going to retire pretty soon and wants one more shot fully loaded.

That's a rumor the press is makin up to sell news, and green Jets fans are forwarding in anticipation of the Pat's demise.

it's 10 years of bullchit that lead up to this

Who should we have gone after?

kcxiv 03-12-2007 10:09 PM

Good signings. Its a no Brainer for players. WHo wouldnt want to play for the Pats?

Chiefs are ****ed in the WR department. I wonder if they are targetting a WR in the first round this year. Hopefully we can get someone that can play.

Appeared to be a very attractive receiver as well.

I've seen this discussed on some Pat's boards as first coming from the Jets; and then from an article that was posted.

You guys need an official mascot. Worry about that instead. :harumph:

Most of the Patriot fan posters on the Jet boards hate the Pats boards..too many homers they say...you must be a homer, BEP. :p ;)

BucEyedPea 03-12-2007 11:22 PM

Why would I be? It's my second team.

I wish I knew what Marv was doing this offseason. They don't seem to have done very much, and what they have done, I was a bit shaky on. Revamping the OLine was good, but you seemed to pay too much to me.

The RB had to go, but now what? You should've offered more than the Jets for Thomas Jones. Their flipping of 2nd round picks wasn't exactly a blockbuster offer.

cadmonkey 03-13-2007 06:22 AM

This has been one of the best (read: oddest) FA seasons in New England that I can ever remember and I am loving it!

The more women Tom knocks up the more receivers he gets.......

Mile High Mania 03-13-2007 06:36 AM

We'll see how it all works out... if the Pats were an AFCW team, the sentiment on this board would be that NE just spent a bunch of money on a malcontent WR that is injured a lot (DS) and two guys that haven't been more than nice working parts on other teams.

Regarding Washington, I have always thought that he was ready to break out once Ocho Cinco or TJ Houshyourdaddy got hurt. He'll definitely have his chance.

Ultimately, Washington and STallworth are both on 1 year deals. If one of them turns into the real DEAL, and Welker is what we expect him to be -- a younger Troy Brown, then I'll be fine with this.

The key is that we don't need all of these guys to break out to have done well. As usual, the Pats are spreading their bets.

Yep. I haven't followed too much of what's been going on. I've been busy at work, skiing and studying for promotion (only checking into the boards once in awhile).

I'm torn about the money that they've paid out for the OL so far. For way too many years our OL has been a pathetic joke. I would love to have a line that can give the QB some time and open up some holes. So if the line manages that..... I think I might be able to live with the cash output. :)

I don't know what is going to happen with the RB's. I'm not sorry to see WM leave at all. He was a Randy Moss type a player IMO - he played when "he felt like it". I like the "A Train" (he at least ran N & S instead of dancing around behind the line hoping for a highlight reel opportunity), but I don't believe he's the sole answer.

Marv - I can't wait to see what all he accomplishes... but whatever happens it's gotta be for the better. :D
