A Commercial Question for Women

There's shoe commercial running now that makes a claim I simply do not get. What is brave about a 5'10" woman wearing wedge heels? This has me baffled.

JBucc 03-26-2007 07:26 PM

What are wedge heels?

I don't know either.

Well you guys are worthless as usual. In the immortal words of Sheriff Bart: "Where da white women at?!?!"

.

Joie 03-26-2007 08:56 PM

What are you asking me for? This white woman is 5'2".

Can you at least tell us what a wedge heel is?

Yes. A wedge is a shoe with a flat bottom in which the foot is elevated as if wearing high heels. I'll look for a photo.

Joie 03-26-2007 09:00 PM

These are wedge heels.

Maybe the bravery is that when seen in shoes like that people automatically assume you're a transvestite hooker.

Joie 03-26-2007 09:02 PM

Perhaps. I love heels but will not wear wedges.

CoMoChief 03-26-2007 09:06 PM

My prom date jr year was around 5'10 and wore heels. I'm 6'3 and her hair almost made her look taller than me.

Admitting that she used to be a man? :p

This must have been in the late 80's, early 90's. The wall of bangs, no?

I won't wear them because I think they're ugly. That, and I don't wear heels.

I'm 5'7". My only guess as to someone tall wearing them would be balance issues.

Now, I must get back to work. I've had my 5 minutes of fun. :( See ya'all at 2:30AM!

These are more my style.

I feel very sexy in heels. Plus I'm quite short.
Try to have a good night at work.

Ok, so the bravery comes in that it's a high-wire act?

SPchief 03-26-2007 09:25 PM

Just by looking at them, wouldn't they be easier to wear than heels?

TinyEvel 03-26-2007 11:22 PM

Damn. Where are you guys from?!

As the unofficial CP ambASSador to advertising, let me clarify.

THough I have not seen the commercial of which you speak, I can only imagine, the "courage" it takes for a 5' 10" woman to wear wedge heels, is, they make her at least 3 inches taller.
I worked with a tall woman who wore nothing but flats, not wanting to accentuate her already "tall" stature. But then another woman, just as tall but looked like Charlise Theron only hotter, and wore heels on top of that. SCHWING!!!!

Maybe this would be more relatable: It would be brave for a size 16 woman to wear a fitting dress. See, overweight women tend to wear loose clothes, to hide their figure.

Those wedges on the first post are alright, not very imaginative. They kind of look like nurse shoes. You need to search online for cork wedges or (even more current) wood wedges. Ge them with patent uppers and you're in business.

Why? Every woman deserves to be put on a pedestal.

I'd feel bad if I knew, not for having to ask. :)

So now you marketing geebs are trying to say it's "brave" to live in your own skin? WTF?

BTW, I would have crashed my car yesterday if I hadn't been driving straight when I heard this commercial on a local sports radio station. I only remember the first two sentences:

"Do you see all those people around you with bigger houses and nicer cars? Do you want to be happy like them?"

This is all I remember because at that point my brain locked up and ceased all functioning. I had to do a cold boot just to get it back. Had a child run out in front of my car they would have been toast.

Speaking of shoes, anyone seen the new "Starburys".

They are $15 sneakers on sale at Steve & Barry's.

Any highheel looks good on a gorgeous woman...case closed

BucEyedPea 03-27-2007 07:15 PM

I love wedgies and think they are classy and stylish.
I love heels, but also flats too. I'm not too tall and can wear heels.

Heh! Heh! Heh! Not's so fast. Besides how many Addy's have you won?

Anyhow, I've art directed lots of shoe catalogues and let me tell ya' you can't find women/models easily that can wear what is the display size for a shoe that looks best. That's a size 6. They look great at size 6.

The taller woman is the bigger the feet usually. So models or any tall woman usually have clod-hopper big feet.

milkman 03-27-2007 08:06 PM

35 posts on women's shoes?

I believe this is the shark, and we just jumped it.

I'd love to have a pair of Kenny's G.A.S.S shoes...anyone remember those...? or flagg brothers platforms...?

:)

So a fat lady walks into the shoe store today and asks "I want something that makes my foot look small", and I said "How about your ass".
