I know it's early...

but what does the next years draft look like? The talk about the Browns trading away their 1st next year makes me curious what the prospects are for next years draft. I also have a younger brother who is big on Colt Brennan from Hawaii.

chagrin 05-01-2007 11:27 AM

"I know it's early" That's an understatement, LOL!

eazyb81 05-01-2007 11:40 AM

Sam Baker and Jake Long look like potential top ten picks at OT.

I'm not usually a big college football watcher but I think I'm going to make more of an effort this year to keep up with the prospects coming out. I hate hearing draft talk and having little personal experience to draw from. The only team I root for is KU so my enthusiasm has been suspect in the past.

Frankie 05-01-2007 12:19 PM

I wanna know who the top CB prospects are. I'm pretty sure our 1st rounder next year will be a CB.

Nebraska's Zack Bowman should be a good option if he comes back healthy from his knee injuries. He's 6-2 and runs a 4.4. I think he's the kind of player the scouts like.

ChiefsCountry 05-01-2007 12:37 PM

I think next year will be deep for DT.

I guess as a addendum to the starting post: What's going to be our needs provided nothing unforeseeable happens?

CB
Oline even if the current crop doesn't suck
RB if Larry's a problem
WR if Eddie and or TG go/fall off
LB Nap and Edwards can't be long term fixes
TE TG isn't getting younger and a TE is important for a running team

And that's assuming that our current players work out.

chagrin 05-01-2007 01:00 PM

IMO I don't believe we need to draft another top TE right away, TG has a few years left, and bigfoot is there.
Probably need a RB in a year
PLEASE keep stocking WR's, they are not simply plug and play and we can't just sign whoever is available, we need true potential, not projects!
LB's are going to be a problem in 2 years IMO
DT is going to be a problem (and by the way could we please not draft anymore projects in round 2 for pete's sake)

It seems that the last 2 drafts have been better about this. Depends on how The Turk and The Tank pan out.

O-linemen will probably still be high on our list.

Exactly the way I see it.

Herm Edwards?

Chris Meck 05-01-2007 05:14 PM

Harris could very well be a long term fix. He's not that old. Edwards, however, will need a replacement within 2 years I'd think.

OL definitely, and lots of it.

Sam Hall 05-02-2007 01:42 PM

Scott Wright has Zack Bowman listed as his No. 1 CB for 2008, but it all depends on how he recovers from his knee injuries.

Colt Brennan is phenomenal, Brian Broehm, and Dan Connor of Penn State will be high picks too

Is he really? My brother has been talking him up like he's Zeus or something but I've not seen a Hawaii game yet. I know that Hawaii QBs don't get a lot of love, they're all system QBs if you listen to the sport guys on TV. I also wonder how much his stock will be discounted over the exposure charge from Colorado.

PhillyChiefFan 05-07-2007 11:42 AM

I have seen some highlights of his games, and yea he is pretty damn impressive. He led the nation in 2005 in yards with 4,455 and 35 touches. Then set the record the following year with 58. Yea, the charge from Co might hinder his NFL potential. Especially since the whole Pacman Jones and the new policies that are in effect.

CoMoChief 05-07-2007 03:46 PM

Draft Rucker. The guys a gamer.

I've watched 2-3 Hawaii games.....Brennan sure looks like he could be a stud, but you never know.

Its pretty damn early to even think about next year.

I think one of the reasons the Chiefs went WR this year, is that next year is supposed to be very stout at OT.

OT, '08 1st rounder
CB(s), plural
OLB
QB, if Brodie blows
RB, if LJ's contract becomes a problem
DE, if Allen becomes a problem (I'm thinking Turk eventually moves inside)

S/OG depth

PhillyChiefFan 05-08-2007 01:47 PM

There is a lot of talk about good OT's coming out of the 2008 draft. Who are the ones to watch??

Direckshun 05-08-2007 04:40 PM

OL, OL, OL.

Lots and lots of OL.

Can't draft too much OL in 2008.

Draft OL until your ears bleed.

Yeah it sure seems that way.

That Jared Gaither from Maryland might be the biggest OT I've ever seen.

6'9 350.
