The SNL Thread
I've been considering doing this for a while, so here goes. A thread to discuss anyone & anything relating to the show.
They keep a pretty tight lid on all images & apparently stay after youtube as well, so those kinds of things might be a 'lil hard to come by, but oh well. Pretty much everyone here seems to be a fan of it on some level, so it might be kinda fun. Its as close to Cant Miss Television as there is for me. |
On deck tonight, Molly Shannon with Stinkin Park.
Molly doesnt have any movie coming out that i'm aware of, so this must be a sort of sympathy pick for host. She's hilarious though, so it should be pretty good tonight...outside of Linkin Park anyway. |
I used to love SNL but it's gone downhill in the past few years IMO. I haven't watched it recently, though.

A skit i really love was just on the E! showing..."Homocil", cause its not their problem, its yours... Who wants creme brule???... LMAO |

I actually think it's been better recently then it was a few years back. |

Looks like i'm wrong about the youtube skits, i thought SNL pulled the plug on stuff that goes over there.
|
Off to catch the show.
|
Jane, you ignorant slut.
|
SNL has good on-screen talent right now, but a lot of times it's hard to tell with the writing. I think they need to do some writing staff reshuffling if they want to rise to the same level of prominence they once enjoyed.
IMO |

The Linkin Park guitarist looks like Brad Delp during a full moon.
|
That has to be one of the worst vocal performances I have ever heard. That guy is nothing without effects added to his voice, and the music itself was very, very average.

That is some 50 year old camel toe right there...

That "music" was positively horrible.

I remember when sandler, farley, and chris rock was on the show and people where like wow snl has gone downhill

The best skit to come out of SNL in the last decade.

I'll take Laser Cats though. |
I can't hardly stand anything SNL has done in a LONG time. But I laughed so hard at the Natalie rap... occasionally I get it stuck in my head and have to go watch it again.
It certainly helps that I would do dirty, dirty things to her if she'd let me. |

I remember seeing that the first time it aired, one of my faves also loved pretty much anything Murphy ever did in his spoofs of Mr. Roger's neighborhood |

That skit is an absolute classic. They would never get away with that today. |

Thats one that was so funny all of the news shows were talking about it & showing clips on Monday. |
another one of my favs is the Will Ferrell "Angry Boss" skit.
www.drunkenmedia.com/video/ferrellboss.htm |
I'm not sure why these wouldn't post, but...
Men's Synchronized swimming http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=0WxCEkhGbfM I couldn't find two of my favorites: Joe Montana (I believe) as Mr. No Depth Perception & Garrett Morris doing the "Gonna get me a shotgun and shoot all the whities I see". Classics. |

Thats a great one, the song sounds so cheerful in contrast to the words. |

Chevy Chase's fall-downs and trip-overs are absolutely classic
Belushi was the heart and soul of SNL...until Dana Carvey, Mike Myers, Will Ferrel, and a few others left their marks. |

We'll have to agree to disagree about Poundstone though. |

I still think the will ferrell "lovers" sketches were one of the greatest, esp when jimmy fallon was involved in that one, where they cracked up the whole time.

Jimmy Fallon's fake laughing drove me nuts. Guy was a tool, almost ruined More Cowbell, one of the greatest skits of all time.

most overrated skit of all time. |

Off the top of my head, my favorite five sketches in no order: More Cowbell Matt Foley, motivational speaker Tom Brokaw, "Gerald Ford is dead today" Alec Baldwin vs. Canteen Boy Dana Carvey, "WRONG!!!" |

Eleanor-gee-I-think-you're-swelleanor. Patty Patty Buke Buke!!!! |

Referring to the hot tub sketch, yes tha twas classic, hell all the lovers ones are funny. I also liked harry carey in outerspace or whatever and celebrity jeapordy. |
Quote:
Also, the Patty Patty Buke Buke McGauflin bits were classic. The Sinatra Group was good as well. |
I always liked Tim Kazurinsky as Dr. Jack Badofsky.
|
Ok, not sure what the name of the host is tonight, heard it last week & totally didnt know the guy...IIRC, the band sux too.
Its the season finale, so i'm guessing they are counting on a great showing from the cast & writers to carry this one. But in the meantime, heres a skit that NEVER fails to crack me up..."The Tony Bennett Show", with the actual TB stopping by to join in the fun, Baldwin, as always, is great with this. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=FcmW4ni1vpY |
Zach Braff (Scrubs)
|
Quote:
They usually try to bust out a big name for openers & finales, i guess i'm a 'lil disappointed...i hope the writers came up with some whiz-bang material. |

Heres all 3 MacGrubers from last week, i love this shite...

The Italian talk show was gold.
|
The seductive dog was soooo nasty. But I laughed.
I like Zach Braff. (The monologue sucked, though) |
Quote:
My favorite was the talking dog. Very screwed up but also hilarious. |
I thought they were going to parady scrubs or do something like that. There was alot of garden state references that flew over my head.
