Help Wanted

I know this is a long shot. We are in desperate need of Correctional Officers in Ely, Nevada. If anyone needs a job or you know someone who does, please pass on this info. I could use more chiefs fans in this area anyway:

Rainman?

pikesome 09-05-2007 11:13 AM

My father (a career criminal attorney on both sides) cave me a copy of a book written for, mainly, COs called Games Criminals Play. After reading that there's no way in hell I'd be willing to do that job. Thank you for doing it so I don't have to.

dj56dt58 09-05-2007 11:16 AM

what's it pay?

Eleazar 09-05-2007 11:18 AM

I think DenverChief does this.

It does cost more out here than the midwest. But were not at Vegas prices here.

Wile_E_Coyote 09-05-2007 11:42 AM

Missouri has a hard time finding COs. Don't know what it pays, but it can't be enough. Burn out is a problem I hear

Yes, that is a huge problem. I've been doing it for 17 years and its very hard to keep people.

Phobia 09-05-2007 11:56 AM

I don't think I'd do that for $137k. Thankless job. Best of luck.

ChiefaRoo 09-05-2007 12:03 PM

I'll do it but only if I can waterboard the inmates.

TrebMaxx 09-05-2007 12:24 PM

If it was a womens prison and it was like the movie "Chained Heat" it might be worth it. Otherwise I pass.

Molitoth 09-05-2007 12:26 PM

I used to go to Ely twice a year for the Silver State Classic. Neat little town out in the middle of nowhere, hah.

That's us. We are in the middle of nowhere. That doesn't help with trying to recruit officers either.

DenverChief 09-05-2007 01:26 PM

are CO's in Nevada considered Peace Officers?

ChiefaRoo 09-05-2007 01:27 PM

I'll do it but only if I can shoot rubber bullets at the inmates in the yard from the tower. Further, all of the inmates have to wear color coded clothing so I can score my hits.

In Nevada, they are considered category III peace officers.

We don't use rubber bullets. We use live rounds when disturbances occur. The inmates wear blue...for those who are in general population. The lockdown inmates wear orange jumpsuits.

I once shot a man in Reno... just to watch him die.

Is your middle name Narc?

Do you have a huge fuzzy cop 'stache or a shaved head or both?

How many times a week do you get "gassed"? When that happens do you have to wash your own clothes? Heh.

Adam, if I told you that you had a beautiful body would hold it against me?

ChiefaRoo 09-05-2007 01:44 PM

Adam, which is harder being a CO or a movie usher? I've always wondered that.

crazycoffey 09-05-2007 01:52 PM

tough job, bless you.

Is that like reserve peace officer status? Meaning only full authority under the supervision of class I peace officer? That would be Colo law except CO's have no peace officer authority ...unless they are Deputy Sheriff's that work in the Jail in which case they are technically not CO's :)

ChiefaRoo 09-05-2007 01:59 PM

Jesus, what's a guy got to say on this thread before he can get some neg. rep.? Pussies.

I think you are dealing with some even temperment individuals, ie - you have to try much harder.

Only have full authority while on duty in the institution or on an escape team.

If I knew how to do a neg rep, maybe it would be easier.
