Apple unveils new iPods

www.apple.com

DMAC 09-05-2007 01:14 PM

The "ipod classic" version holds 160GB. For $250.

That sounds like an awesome deal to me.

Actually an apple product that is worth it.

kaplin42 09-05-2007 01:15 PM

Meh, I hate apple. Worthless pieces of....

Micjones 09-05-2007 01:16 PM

And I just bought a shuffle.
The new Nano's have video capability.
DAMN.

88TG88 09-05-2007 01:23 PM

The classic, besides the massive memory, is pretty much the same as the video. The only improvements are on the nano

I've never owned an mp3 player, but when it comes out I'm considering buying this model:

Creative Zen

Any thoughts? Words of wisdom?

Saulbadguy 09-05-2007 02:23 PM

Worthless pieces of shit.

I have an iPod and wouldn't get anything else.

I would say they are overpriced a bit, yes. But pieces of shit? Please.

Not many 160GB's out there for less than $350. That's a hell of a deal.

I am very rough with my ipod video 30gig (which is full), and it does nothing but perform.

160GB? Jesus. I have a 4 GB one and it's not even filled up.

I thought he was talking about that Zen, the other poster asked about. If I'm mistaken, I'll have to agree with you.

The only thing that rubbed me wrong today was the capacity of the touch. I mean, the touch is perfect in lots of ways but for a music library and video collection to exist, it's just not possible with the capacities of current. I'm glad to see flash, but I'm thinking people should wait until capacities get up there.

Agree, the touch is WAY overpriced. Super ripoff. I see that majorly bombing.

Mr. Laz 09-05-2007 02:53 PM

iPhone minus the cellphone (iPhone has wi-fi).

Yeah, I'm splitting hairs but just to clarify.

Did I read this correctly? 160GB. Everytime Apple brings out a new product, 6 months later something better and reasonable comes out. What a scam.

What does that mean? You hate company that produces interesting technology? How does that happen?

It hasn't been six months...it's been like 3 years.

HC_Chief 09-05-2007 03:15 PM

Grrr..... I bought an 80GB iPod at Christmas... the price has dropped significantly on that model.

irishjayhawk 09-05-2007 03:15 PM

I also don't think the iPod Touch has a camera. So add that to the iPhone Minus equation.

The Franchise 09-05-2007 03:19 PM

Actually these are the prices according to the website for the Classic IPod:

80 gb - $250.00
160 gb - $350.00

The September 2006 revision (often called generation 5.5) featured a brighter display, longer video battery life, and a music search function. The 60GB model was upgraded to 80 GB.

It's been about a year, we both were wrong, however I was closer.

It's been about a year dumbass.

And didn't you just say "Sounds like 6 years to me". Dumbass.

First, he was exaggerating with 3 years. Second, I hardly think the 5.5 counts as an update, as evidenced by the .5 rather than the 6 version number. And a year lifespan for a product is pretty good. Why let a product decay for 2 or 3 years?

The only company that's done that is Microsoft and that was with Internet Explorer. Look how that turned out for them. Although, I'm curious if the Zune has been updated at all.

I've had a 30 G for over 2 years now and it works fine. Freezes once in a great while, but I take care of it and don't treat it bad. Still works like a charm.

I have a Creative Zen Vision: M, and I love it. It's a little bulkier than the iPod equivalents, but it plays DivX and Xvid formats natively, so there's no converting files that you...uh...might come across by completely legal means on the internet. I used to watch an episode of Family Guy each direction on my work commute.

However, Creative's wannabe podcast system sucks, and it takes forever to convert files that were intended for an iPod (in .mp4 format).
