Rant

ESPN is talking about how bad the Chargers are and giving ZERO credit to the Chiefs, a team NO ONE gave a chance, a team that was UNANIMOUSLY picked to lose, a team Peter King predicted a 3-33 loss (only to put the Chargers at #11 in the power 15 today, and Denver at #12 but no Oakland or KC - who are both better than those two teams)...Bill Simmons for the last three weeks has had the Chiefs at #32 in the power rankings...

THESE GUYS DO THIS FOR A LIVING?

**NEWSFLASH**

THE CHIEFS MADE THE PLAYOFFS LAST YEAR, THEY STARTED 0-2 LAST YEAR, THEY WERE BEST WHEN DAMON WAS THEIR QB...THEY IMPROVED THEIR LT (MCINTOSH), THEY IMPROVED THEIR WR'S (BOWE - INSANE)...THEY IMPROVED THEIR DEFENSE (NO MORE BELL/MITCHELL REPLACED BY EDWARDS/HARRIS) POLLARD & PAGE OVER KNIGHT AND WESELY AND THEY FINALLY HAVE A DL ROTATION (ALLEN/HALI/BOONE/EDWARDS/TANK/WILKERSON/MCBRIDE) AND DJ IS PLAYING LIKE THE ALL-PRO HE SHOULD BE (SERIOUSLY, HE'S BEEN OFF THE HOOK)...

Why is this such a surprise to people?

It's insane.

#32 in the power rankings...

**** ESPN

The Chiefs are EASILY the best team in the AFC West...what is their weakness? Right now, it's slow starts, and that can be fixed...

You can't fix Denver's weak pass offense and rush defense, Oakland's QB situation (12 passes, 75 yards???), San Diego's coach...

and most of all...

THE CHIEFS HAVE 6 OF 8 AT ARROWHEAD, AND ALREADY HAVE 1 AFCW ROAD WIN...THAT'S HUGE...

The Chiefs are officially HEAVY favorites to win the West.

StcChief 10-01-2007 01:51 PM

it's ESPN take it with a grain of salt.

beach tribe 10-01-2007 01:53 PM

They hate us.

Dartgod 10-01-2007 01:54 PM

I wouldn't say that we are "easily" the best in the AFCW. The whole division is up for grabs at this point.

InChiefsHeaven 10-01-2007 01:54 PM

Let 'em keep doubting the Chiefs...We'll stun 'em all at the end, if things keep going the way they seem to be...

L.A. Chieffan 10-01-2007 01:55 PM

You're so ****ing stupid hootie. Don't you know SD is the best team in the West??
They keep telling us that so it MUST be true.

They rarely know what they are saying or the stance they're taking.

Sean Salisbury - aka reerun #1 - says there's no way Patriots could have cheated with the tapes.

Mark Shlearth (sp, I know) - aka reerun #2, but not as reeruned - lies out the simple steps it takes to use the film against the other team and outright cheat.

ESPN is, day by day, going back to the Eastern Sports Programming Network anyway.

JBucc 10-01-2007 01:56 PM

I hear ya, but going a little overboard there. We're 2-2 against teams with a combined 5-11 record. Don't get too excited.

I think the whole AFC is up in the air after the Colts/Pats. I'd rather just fly under the radar for a while and see what happens.

Extra Point 10-01-2007 01:59 PM

I predicted 5-11 on the season. The team, so far, has far exceeded my expectations. The season's young, and full of promise for deprecation by the majority of the Planet.

The Chiefs are officially HEAVY favorites to win the West.

Would you care to put 100 bucks on that at 2:1 (I get 200, you get 1) since the Chiefs are such heavy favorites?

ferrarispider95 10-01-2007 02:02 PM

Let's be honest, what is the bigger story, the chargers were 14-2 last year and have lost 3 straight. The media is in love with LT and roidman.

We won't get any respect until we do some more damage. It might be best to fly under the radar and to be honest, we still have lots to prove. That was an excellent step in the right direction.

If we can win the next couple games at home, we will be in good shape, and fugg the media.

'Hamas' Jenkins 10-01-2007 02:02 PM

By the way, I'm taking a shit right now as I post this...I think I'll name it Hootie. I'm sure he's passed through several asses in his day.

BigMeatballDave 10-01-2007 02:03 PM

ESPN blows, but that is beside the point. They know who our starting QB is. Maybe if we could win a playoff game at least every 5 years or so, we'd get some kind of respect.

ceebz 10-01-2007 02:03 PM

Who gives a shit. Let the Chiefs do their talking on the field. After a few more wins, the media will notice...

Mr. Plow 10-01-2007 02:05 PM

I'm reserving judgment until I see how they follow up the 30 point arena football game we played yesterday.

If the offense looks halfway consistent, I'll say that they looking better than I expected.

Yeah I agree with you on this point, let us be the under dogs and prove everyone else wrong.

ferrarispider95 10-01-2007 02:07 PM

How well did the sports illustrated cover work out, as well as Jaworski's "KC Chiefs Superbowl Binder".

What scares me is the Patriots and Colts, they look unbeatable at times.

Hootie 10-01-2007 02:08 PM

Jacksonville is another tough match-up for us...

If we win that game, we're for real, plain and simple.

tiptap 10-01-2007 02:08 PM

I agree with Hootie. But I can understand how the national media think that the Chief's were going to be bad. Their bad showing in the playoffs, QB controversy in spades, LJ late into camp, a whole new Offensive line, trouble at DT position and last years history of seeing the team as a run team only.

All those questions were addressed. They were untried at the beginning of the season. Four bad showings on offense and only flashes on defense during preseason gave no information as to how things might gel.

You want this to build slowly and diligently. And yes a road victory in the Division IS big. I see improvement in the run game as I am seeing more runs not between Guard and Center but between Tackles and Guard. I like the trend and with Kennison returning to the line up suddenly you have two very good WR and the best TE in the passing game.

What a win will do for a team... a couple of weeks ago there was a list a mile wide, and now we're asking 'what is their weakness?'

The biggest jump in the power rankings last week was Jacksonville from 17 to 10, which is questionable enough. Wouldn't everyone here be all 'WTF, lol?" if the Eagles had jumped into the top 10 because they blew out Detroit?

The Chiefs moved up a few spots for beating Minnesota, and we'll probably move up 6 or 7 spots for beating the Chargers, which would put them around 20. If we're 4-2 going into the bye, I think we will be deserving of some respect... but until then, we're where we should be.. bunched in with the large group of questionable teams.

And BTW, making the playoffs isn't really an accomplishment anymore.. I heard someone yesterday saying he wouldn't be surprised if a 7-9 team made it in this year, and I wouldn't be, either.

The Bucs are for real...Garcia is really an underrated QB and Gruden is a good coach...

But yeah, MAYBE that division will see an 8-8 champ...but I think (as long as Delhomme gets healthy) either the Panthers or Bucs will win 9 or 10 games by default.

Plus, the Falcons aren't as bad as they looked the first few weeks...

Now the Saints, I don't know what to think about that team...

That's a shocker to me...

sedated 10-01-2007 02:40 PM

The number 1 thing that pisses me off about ESPN is that they use the same guys to analyse everything.

Wouldn't it make more sense to use their resources to bring in the opinions of the people that cover their team (only 1 team, day in day out).

5 guys can't be experts for all 32 teams.

There are at least 3 beat reporters for every team. I'd much rather hear one of their perspectives instead of the same generic talking heads.

Yeah, but what else are we supposed to do? Tank the season? People keep saying that, but I don't know the answer to that question... because really, there are probably 30 teams sitting in that scenario, literally. We're hardly into the season and it's clear that the Colts and Pats are at a different level than anyone else. We probably already know what the AFC Championship is gonna be, again. And anybody who's gotten in their way has been obliterated. At least we can get all these young guys another year of experience and keep building forward.

Croyle was given EVERY SINGLE OPPORTUNITY to win the QB job in the preseason, and he shit himself...

What do you think he's going to do now?

Let's say Herm names Croyle the starting QB this week...we're 2-2, we just came off an emotional victory over a division rival...

The FIRST sign of adversity, how will Croyle respond? METHINKS not good...

It's Huard's team this year, GET THE **** OVER IT! You bitching (like the little bitch you are) isn't going to change it.

The Chiefs with Huard > the Chiefs with Croyle

PLAIN AND SIMPLE

So back the Chiefs or go to the ****ing Patriots board...

I don't disagree with that at all. I really don't. But it is what it is... hopefully Croyle gets put into a successful situation, whenever he gets in.

But I still think there's a lot of good stuff going on. Allen, Hali, DJ... Bowe... I want Croyle to get experience, but there's no reason to piss and moan and throw the whole season down the river and not get some of these other young guys valuable experience too. With Bowe coming on, LJ running better, Kennison coming back... if Croyle gets to play, he's gonna be in a way, way better situation than he would've been in week 1 or 2.

Micjones 10-01-2007 02:58 PM

I think we're doing that at every position except the one that probably matters most. QB.

You want to dethrone the Pats or the Colts in December? You're going to need to play some damn fine defense and light them up on offense. With Croyle in there now, learning, getting in sync with the receivers, that possibility exists, however unlikely. It's simply not there with Huard. Most of the other 30 teams have tested the guys on their bench in regular season games. The Chiefs haven't.

Ridiculous...

Huard should get a BIG pat on the back for even making it through these first four games (and at 2-2)...

Croyle showed us what he can do in the preseason (nothing, horrible pocket presence, ridiculous throwing motion, backfooted heaves)...the dude had ONE GOOD DRIVE in the preseason...

HE WAS A 3RD ROUND PICK...

you guys are all acting like we have a top 5 pick QB sitting on our bench...Croyle and his 350,000 dollar salary isn't setting our franchise back ONE BIT by sitting on the bench...it's not like he's Philip Rivers and his 30 million dollar signing bonus wasting away behind Drew Brees...

There is no rush on Croyle...he was pretty much HANDED the starting job this preseason, and he played so miserable the coaching staff HAD to anoint Huard the starter...

so now it's time for all of you pessimistic half fans to DEAL WITH IT, and either be content with what we got, or go on over to PatriotsPlanet...

Well so far he's 4 for 4 this season for 55 yards.

Huard is indecisive and scared. He doesn't see the whole field. He locks onto one receiver and if he isn't open he dumps it off. How many times has he thrown it to a double covered guy or checked off to the running back when he had someone wide open down the field? Too many. But hey, nothing I say will matter because you think you are the only knowledgeable fan here and the rest of us are dumbasses.

Drunk much? Or are you always this dumb?

What it is it most of us are looking for the future, I honestly could give 2 ****s less what we do this year because I know if we make the playoffs we will exit in round 1 and we'll get the same shit next year. At least if we put the young guy in, go 4-12, get a high draft pick and start building for 5 years down the road. This is one reason Dicks or Marty's 5 year plans never worked ,because we'd finish 13-3 or 10-6 or 9-7 and get a 28th pick and everyone would think everything was fine b ecause we finished so great, exited early in the playoffs and didn't change a thing in the offseason to get better.

Enjoy another 9-7 season with King Carl. Enjoy mediocrity, i'm sure being a Chiefs fan you're used to it. Just some of us are tired of it.

Now, it's officially Damon Huard all year long.

And that's good if you want to see the Chiefs win, like me (I know, I'm in the minority on that...)

You are assuming Damon won't get benched because we've beaten 2 1-3 teams? We've also lost to another 1-3 team and a 2-2 team. Heh. Have you seen the rest of our schedule?

I did. And I also watched Huard. Did you really think Huard did anything better than Croyle in preseason besides sit out a game?

Huard threw 9 passes in the preseason, so no...

But this wasn't a preseason where Huard needed to prove a thing...all Brodie had to do was prove he was somewhat capable and BOOM, JOB WAS HIS...

But he shit himself...and he LOST the job, Huard didn't win it, Croyle flat out lost it...

Wouldn't be surprised...why don't you name the last 7-9 team to make the playoffs..

GO GO GO

It doesn't matter if it's happened before; the point is that every year there is a mediocre team or two that makes the playoffs... and if it's at 9-7, 8-8, or 7-9, there's no use saying "hey, we were a playoff team last year!" unless you prove you deserve to be there.

Any 4-12 team from last year could go to the playoffs and lose in the first round, and then go back to sucking the next year. Until the Chiefs can say they've won a playoff game in the last decade, they don't deserve the respect some of you are demanding.

IN THE NFL...

YOU PLAY TO WIN GAMES, YOU DON'T PLAY FOR A HIGH DRAFT PICK. ESPECIALLY WHEN YOU HAVE A PLAYOFF CALIBER TEAM...

STOP ACTING LIKE WE'RE THE ONLY TEAM THAT TRIES TO WIN...

SO WHAT IF WE DON'T HAVE A CHANCE AGAINST INDY OR NE? NO ONE ELSE DOES, EITHER (MAYBE DALLAS)...

Good response....too bad it makes no sense.

And we'll never get a Peyton Manning or Tom Brady because we draft nothing but D in later rounds and we'll always get a 20-32 pick in the first round because we play people like Huard who get us a 9-7 record and an early playoff exit instead of seeing if Croyle could develop into something like a Brady.

ENJOY YOUR MEDIOCRITY.

Yea, so you play to exit the playoffs in round 1? Because that's what we're doing playing Huard.

ClevelandChief 10-01-2007 03:31 PM

Face it, since Montana left all we've had is career backups who have taken us to the brink of eutopia only to dash our hopes with poor playoff performances....it's gonna continue to happen that way until we try to develop a QB of our own.

Who knows maybe next year we can trade for Dilfer.

SHUT THE **** UP

It's time for you to put up or shut up, you stupid one who sucks the penis.

In one day, you've predicted that the Chiefs will win the AFC (and are heavy favorites to do so), and now you've said that they'll be 8-4 through 12 games.

I'll take 2:1 odds that the Chiefs don't win the AFC West.

I'll put up 100 bucks, if they win, you get it, if they don't, you owe me 200 bucks, since they are such heavy favorites and you are the smartest poster on here.

Take the bet, or shut the fuck up.
