A lot of the college HC's are figuring out that NFL jobs aren't all they're cracked up to be.

I'm not sure that owner will allow his team to draft another franchise QB at least right now in all of this shit...

I've yet to figure out why everyone thinks Matt Ryan is the top guy at QB, make no sense to me.

We're going to have quite a bit of talent at WR next year. Maybe now Tyler Wilson will reconsider his commitment to Tulsa, especially with Malzahn possibly leaving there.

Geez.. assuming LSU wins the title this year the SEC will have 5 NC coaches (Meyer, Spurrier, Miles, Saban, Fulmer), a guy who got screwed out of a NC during an undefeated season (Tuberville) and now Petrino.

"We have to find something to rally around," Falcons coach Bobby Petrino said after Monday night's loss. "I thought that is what we would do after our second half in St. Louis. I thought our toughness and competitiveness that showed would carry over, but it didn't."

WOW.

Something about Mike Vick sitting around getting fat eating fried chicken.

"If Michael makes a mistake and eats fried chicken and French fries in prison every day and comes out at 250 pounds, he's not going to be able to play football," Blank said. "How he's able to keep himself in shape, stay athletically tuned and mentally tuned, I don't know."

Not at Arkansas. Not in the SEC West. This job has more pressure than the Falcons gig. You have to remember, Houston Nutt had a good run there and the boosters/alumni pretty much forced him out.

At Fayetteville, they are expecting 9-10 win seasons every year. They want to be an elite program and that's not going to be easy with LSU, Alabama, Auburn in the same division plus Houston Nutt at Ole Miss and Croom coming off a seven win season at MSU.

NewChief 12-11-2007 05:39 PM

Admittedly, I've never had Popeye's. Sorry to my fellow white peoples.

I should get some, it's located right near WSU.

NashvilleRock.net 12-11-2007 06:35 PM

My favorite NFC team is Atlanta (lived there for 10 years) and the problems go deeper than Petrino. It seems like everything has just gone to hell since Dan Reeves left. I actually liked Mora at first but his inability to change when other teams caught on to his system (sound familiar?) and his big mouth about the Washington job got him booted. Deangelo Hall is a big mouth who hasn't totally backed up all of his talk. I'm a Chiefs fan first and would love to see Rich McKay jump ship and replace Carl in KC. He actually knows talent.

I'm not familiar with the area to which you're referring, but I've never noticed a disproportionate number of chicken places in the predominantly black areas of Omaha. They're pretty much everywhere. Maybe that craze is yet to catch on here.

Mile High Mania 12-11-2007 06:59 PM

Good - I think I really like this move, but ... I'm going to hold my breath until there is a press conference and a few days have passed.

I think the offense he has run before can be successul with AR in the SEC. I would imagine one of his first efforts will be to *try* and keep Felix Jones from going pro. I doubt that can happen, but it's worth a shot.

I hope the recruits that we're still chasing are favorable of this move... I think it could be a great hire.

Maybe its just a KC thing I dunno. But Springfield, a metro area of 300k or so and is 95% white, only has two KFC's which I thought was pretty odd bc I enjoy eating there. Kind of weird if you ask me.

That seems to be the way things go these days, no? It used to be a shocking anomaly when a coach changed his mind (Bobby Cremins?). Now it seems no one's surprised anymore when it happens.

Petrino called a staff meeting late Tuesday afternoon, a meeting which last about 10 seconds, sources said.

"He just said to us, 'Guys I've resigned, I'm going to Arkansas. I'm sorry. I'll be talking with you guys in the future.' And with that he turned and walked out the door. We haven't been told anything else," said one assistant coach.
