KANSAS CITY AGREES TO TERMS WITH LEFFEW, PIMENTEL; ADD OTIS TO PS
Dec 26, 2007, 3:19:51 PM

Kansas City Chiefs President Carl Peterson announced on Wednesday that the club has agreed to terms of a three-year contract with T Travis Leffew. The Chiefs also agreed to terms on a one-year contract with LB Mickey Pimentel, who was added to the 53-man roster from the practice squad. As per Chiefs policy, no other terms of the agreements were made available. The Chiefs also announced the addition of QB Jeff Otis to the practice squad.

Leffew (6-3, 292) originally entered the NFL as a rookie free agent with Chicago in 2006 and attended training camp, but was released prior to the start of the regular season. He later joined Green Bay’s practice squad before signing with the Dallas Cowboys on November 21, 2006 and remained on that club’s active roster for four weeks. Leffew attended training camp with Green Bay in 2007, but was released prior to the start of the regular season. He also spent time on Atlanta’s practice squad this year.

The Lexington, Kentucky native started all 50 games of his career at Louisville, earning first-team All-Big East honors as a senior in 2005. Leffew prepped at Boyle County High School in Danville, Kentucky.

Pimentel (5-11, 235) originally joined the Chiefs as a member of the practice squad on December 12th. He entered the NFL with Carolina as a rookie free agent in 2007 and attended training camp with the Panthers, but was released prior to the start of the regular season. Pimentel appeared in 25 games (nine starts) in two seasons at California, totaling 98 tackles (48 solo), 18.5 tackles for loss (-69.0 yards), 8.0 sacks (-47.0 yards), three interceptions and a touchdown. He transferred to Cal from Pima (AZ) Community College and prepped at Marian Catholic High School in San Diego, California.

Otis (6-2, 198) originally entered the NFL as a rookie free agent in 2006 with the Arizona Cardinals, spending training camp with that club before being released prior to the start of the regular season. He helped lead the Frankfurt Galaxy of NFL Europa to a World Bowl title in 2006, completing 48 of 91 passes for 560 yards and four touchdowns. Otis attended training camp with Oakland in 2007, but was released prior to the start of the regular season.

Otis finished his collegiate career at Columbia ranked second in school annals in both passing yards (4,666) and completions (429). He is the son of former NFL running back Jim Otis and prepped at Christian Brothers High School in St. Louis, Missouri.

Wonder who was released?

Why did we give someone a 3yr deal who couldn't make four other teams' rosters and practice squads?

This is a rhetorical question, right?

Who cares if it's 3 years if the price is right. You don't want to have some guy pan out unexpectedly great just in time to have to re-sign him, right?

So we should sign everyone to 3 year deals?

I thought everyone was wanting a straight out release for the one's mentioned above.

I'm going to get a three year deal with the Chiefs. I run a blistering 4.9 forty and am 5'-10" 175lbs. Ray Farmer won't quit calling me. Oh and did I mention I have hands roughly as good as Samie Parker but on the downside I won't run across the middle. I'm a shoe in for the 53 active squad.

Let's not get things twisted, ok?

You sign them to league minimum for 3 years, knowing that you might not get to really see what you have for the first year. You can cut them whenever you'd like. What's the downside? You won't keep them around if you don't like what you see, and if you do? You get a good cheap player for the first 3 years.

It's not rocket science, folks. Hell, I'd sign them to a 10 year contract at league min if it was allowed. Again. CUT them whenever you'd like.

My advice, answer Ray's 1st call then change your phone number. Pretend to run across the middle then alligator arm it. Learn to fetal like the QB I.E. Damon. Oh yea and say your a distant cousin of Bowe :) And when you get close enough to Herm, stab him in the eye. Then give Carl the finger and I'll give ya 20 bucks

How about I run ten yard out and plow carl's knee "on accident" while he's on the sideline?

Be patient. Next preseason, just tailgate. When he comes out to thank you for your business, give him a rib with a nice slatherin' of that special Ipecac BBQ sauce.

How about the special KC Masterpiece Antifreeze flavor!!

ChiefaRoo 12-27-2007 12:36 AM

I bet Carl won't venture into the arrowhead parking lot tailgate scene without two body guards, body armor and a food taster. He may be an a-hole but he's quite wiley.
