Dear Carl Peterson: Go get me Marcus Trufant
I know we've had our differences. I think you're unqualified, and you don't know who the hell I am. You have made some moves that I have approved of. Especially lately. It's in that hope that I duefully request that you go out and sign the biggest up and coming CB in this league IMO. Go get Marcus Trufant.

I think the guy is great. |
lets don't break the bank unless we are ready to compete to for the superbowl

Not worth it, IMO. If I were targeting FA CB's, my list would begin and end with Randall Gay. Young AND inexpensive (relatively) |

This was his first real good year. If he expects top tier money, then I'm not interested. If he wants a 2 or 3 year deal to prove he's elite and the price is right, I want no one else.

And someone will pay it. |
I like Trufant from what I've seen. It depends on what kind of money he's asking for, but I don't want to spend a gob on a CB in a Cover 2 system.
I'm a proponent of playing Sapp/Brackenridge/Barksdale next season, and keeping Surtain on board for one last season. |
He's who I really wanted to draft the year we got LJ. I agree that he's going to get silly money in FA.
|
I really dont want to spend silly money on free agents. Go for younger guys, who wont break the bank but our hungry to get out of a shadow ie Bryant Johnson, Ryan Lilija, Randall Gay etc.
|
Welp, lets break the bank. Sign every good free agent we can, make a couple good trades, and give it one more go before Carl and Herm are both gone after this next year.
|
I'd rather Carl go get some sick.

*waiting for Mecca to tell us how the Cover 2 doesn't need top tier cornerbacks to make it rn*

Marcus TRUFANT? :D Tell me you're NOT King Carl...... Oh, my LORD.....hehe...aim Higher!

Trufant is coming off of his rookie contract. He's young enough to participate in the anticipated success of this team in "2-3" years. |
Quote:
Aim higher? You don't know enough about him. I see many Seahawk games living in Seattle, and he is on the come up. Fo real, yo!!! |
Better yet, how about you just go away Carl. That would deliver the organization 10x the benefits than Trufant could ever deliver.

I would give our 1st round pick this year to whatever team Carl went too. |
First-Round pick in '03 o/o/Washington State, finally actually DID something in the way of INT's this season, with seven. Shows an uncanny ability to turn the wrong way on deep balls, relies on his speed to make up for lack of field awareness. Pro Bowls - ?? Any? Aim higher........He's not your answer........
|
Quote:
Pro bowl this year. He's progressed, and is not making "rookie" mistakes anymore. I respect your opinion, you've done your homework. I just disagree. I think he's going to be elite before it's all said and done. |
This may sound like a wish in the wind, but it's time to DRAFT your next Trufant, your next John Alt, your next Dante Hall, your next Todd Blackledge.
Oops, forget THAT one. You fix the team through three years of solid drafts, and add the right FA's, not the payroll-breakers, and you're back in biz. 21st-century-NFL teams are built through the draft. If you think Peterson's a stiff, ditch him, and get yourself a great GM, one w/scouting experience....... |

No worries, after the fat man floats heads up in the mighty MO river Trufant can come to da Chiefs..Then Fuget a bout it.. :# Carl is so bad he pissin off the last line of Italians in KC...He deserves the road of the Commasanoes and Civellas. |
Quote:
Truth be told, you don't build your defense back to front, the Broncos have a great corner tandem, the defense is still bad. I don't see how spending a bunch of money on Trufant would make the Chiefs any better...once again by the time the Chiefs are ready he becomes a highly paid corner over or pushing 30, like we have now...He's also from that state I'd be surprised if he leaves. |
I'd love to draft a guy like Trufant, but I'd hate to throw 80 million at the guy...
I'd rather build our team via the draft... |

Trufant sealed the win for the Hawks today. He is pure grade stud. I still wouldn't pay him what it would cost to get him. I wish it was possible though.
|
no. We need to draft talented CBs of our own

Dear Carl Peterson,
Go get me Bill Polian. |

By FAX. Stab me in the back with a rusty pocket knife. Drown me in some camel pee and whack me with a fife. Remove my thumbs with pliers and take away my life, Just don't draft a lineman who plays worse than my wife. Screw me in the anus with hunks of red hot steel. Twist off all my arms and legs, I promise not to squeal. Stick my feet in boiling oil, my ass skin you can peel, But do not pick another Junior. Just don't do that deal. Impale my ears with broken bottles. Shove 'em to the rim. Throw me in a lake of puke, I don't know how to swim. Cut my throat and hang my carcass from a super gym, Just don't draft another fatass like that Ryan Sims. Club me with a two by four and cover me with ticks. Shave my head, and slice my pecker, bash my balls with bricks. Drag my ass through broken glass, and stab my eyes with sticks, Just don't trade a draft pick for a guy like Eric Hicks FAX |
He went to Wash St. and is from Tacoma, why the hell would he leave Seattle, a playoff team in a weaker conference, to come play here? He's not worth the $$ it would take to acquire him, and we have much greater needs to address. Especially for our defensive scheme.
|
I guess if you can sign him to only one year contracts it might not be a bad idea, since he seemed to wait till he was in a contract year to show up.
|
Quote:
That's why it would never work. It would cost too much money to lure him away from his home. This was pretty much a jerk off thread. |
Quote:
He's on his rookie deal. How many rookie CB's are pro bowlers? He's just now reaching his peak to be followed by his prime. He's gonna be a stud. Hell, he already is. |
we need a DT a whole lot more...the lines are the most important...give me Haynesworth if we're going to throw our money away, again, on FA (which we aren't, thankfully)....
|
Fred Taylor FTW!
|
I'm hearing (not from my reliable source) that King Carl is saving cap room this year and next year to set up the cap for a big splash with high profile free agents in 2010 to correspond with the opening of the new Arrowhead and raising of ticket prices. But he is suppose to be gone then, correct? So this is probably just a BS rumor.
|
Quote:
No no no, the only thing you should be hearing is how he is getting set up to make a big splash into retirement. |

But I heard Carl once say, "I'm not a big Gay guy". Take that FWIW. |
Hey if they want to sign some good players to make this team more competitive, I'm all for it. I'd like to see what the guys trying to prove themselves like Croyle etc can do with talent around them rather than trying to make thse guys do it all themselves.
Give me a guy like Feneca or Trufant, a solid FA addition on the OL and CB and the additions we can make via the draft IMO would go a long way in helping make this team competitive. |

Trufant is nice, but IMHO you (re) build from the inside out. Lines etc. For a 4-12 team to focus on a CB isn't the right way to go unless the $$ is very much right.
|
Would you settle for Randall Gay?
He'll be much more affordable. |
