Thank You KC for Damion Lewis.
The tackle that we drafted with the 12th pick had two sacks last night, and was paid the ultimate compliment by having to be doubled teamed for most of the night. I think we both made out well in the trade.
Several people on the KC Star board was informing me of how stupid Martz was the previous year for drafing Trung Canidate I guess Martz showed how smart he really was. If Canidate is not injured he will be a stud in the future years, and if he is injured I guess we will just see more of Marshall Faulk. No flaming, I just want to know what you guys thought of the Rams last night. Lewis-played outstanding. Archuletta-looked like he was trying for the big hit instead of just makeing a good tackle. Pickett-looked pretty good. Germaine- ended up with a QB rating of .116 not bad. O-Line did not do a great job allowed to much pressure. Then again Miami has a hell of a defense. |
Hill was doing pretty good. However, he suffered a severe injury and was done. Canidate is actually a rookie. He was on the IR for 90% of training camp last year after a D-Back from Tenn. took a cheap shot in a practice and hurt him. I just hope he is ok. Yea he fumbled but he was the fastest man on the filed last nite.
Dennis Miller absolutly positivly is the worst freaking announcer in the entire World. He is horrible. If thats the best ABC can come up with then there is not much talent out there. He can't talk football just stupid crispy creme remarks. Fouts and Co. had to remind him to talk football over and over. |
Lewis was impressive. I liked Archuletta in the draft - the kid can play ball!
Gremaine was pretty good but needs work. Candidate did not impress me at all running the ball. His ypc was UNDER 2! He showed explosiveness receiving. Miami has a solid D(just like last season). Miami ran all over the StLouis D. |
Why didn't Warner or Faulk play? Are they hurt? or was it that Martz didn't want them hurt?
|
Warner played.
Faulk was held out due to a 'bruised knee'. |
I missed Warner, but then again I missed the first quarter. I didn't think he played...
|
To sum it up Bob, thank you for Trent. If you can get that excited on one sack, on a missed block at that, then I can get excited about the TC reports on Green. Looked to me like the Miami running game ran thru your DL, pretty easily, of which, he was a part of.

Lewis did look good last night, but before you do the Chicken Dance remember that last nights game was the pre-season. I was really watching him in the first few series and didn't see him much. He did look good going against the #3 qb. I think he will be a good one, but don't expect 10 sacks this year, and I would rather have him be a run stopper.

If you don't think that Lewis was impressive in his first Pro game then you either have no idea what you are talking about or you did not watch the game. Oh he had TWO sacks. Green will be an exciting player. Other players will rise just because of his attitude.
There have been 14 teams who have given up 450pts or more in the NFL. Pts Allowed Team yr. Record 533 Colts 81 2-14 487 Saints 80 1-15 484 ViQueens 84 3-13 473 Bucs 86 2-14 471 RAMS 00 10-6 The most wins any of the other 9 teams had was 4. GET THE PICTURE. WE need a team that will allow 400 pts and we go 14-2. Need I say more. |
Bob,
Cool down man. I think Lewis will be good, but I didn't think he looked that great agaibnst the run. His 2 sacks were agaings the 2nd or 3rd team QB. When the #1 QB was in there I didn't see Lewis get Close. I did like your 3rd string QB, I though he looks OK. Hoover |
The real mark of whether or not Damione Lewis was a good pick will be when the Rams can stop the run.
He's awfully small. |
You are 100% correct, as far as the Run. I feels its even harder to stop the run then go after the QB.
But he is not real small 6'3" 301. Hell we had Demarco Farr at 6'3" 280 the last couple of years. |
So, he's put on some weight since the combines? IIRC, he was like 285 at the combines...
301 still isn't terribly big at DT. The really good run stuffers are like 330... |
I don't really know when he put on the weight. The Rams announcer Jack Snow was saying he weighed 301. ANd they were saying that this morning on KFNS 590 call in show. Yea you are correct it would be great to have a 330lber in there, but you gotta live with what you got.
If the dam Rams can get a mediocre defense this year they can do good. If not they will probably just make the playoffs and get bounced the 1st game again. |
Bob,
I think they would have won the Division last year if Faulk didn't miss some time, and if Warner didn't go down. They got messed up and had a tough play off game in NO. I think they could have made the Super Bowl even giving up all of those points. The O is that good. I just feel that all these additions will not pay off this year but maybe more next year. Hoover Its hard to say good things about the Rams, I'm just not a fan. |
Germaine did look good.
Lewis-played outstanding against the 2nd and 3rd string. The first two series he didn't get off the line and he wasn't being double teamed. Archuletta-looked lost most of the time, which isn't that unusual for the first pro game. Pickett- agree he looked pretty good. 1st pre-season game and I think you have a couple of keepers!! |
He better have been impressive for the 12th damn overall pick. And Green better be impressive when he hits the field...
|
Lewis had McGlockton-type sacks. You know, the other D-linemen apply pressure to the QB, causing him to run directly into Lewis.
Candidate is injured AGAIN, and obviously will never be an every-down RB. Prove that you know something about football...quit crapping your pants after one preseason game. |
Hey, Clint! I missed ya man...
HB: You know, you usually have useful things to say, and I know you'd hate to have to say something good about the Chiefs, but... If you think Martz is a mediocre coach, then evidently Vermeil DID have alot to do with the SuperBowl thing down there in St. Louis (contrary to what most Rams fans will say...), right? |
htisman....
I've never said V wasn't a good coach... he runs circles around Martz as a head guy, though Martz is an awesome coordinator IMO... I just think Martz falls into the same category as the Buddy Ryans, Belichecks, etc.... not top guy material... I have no love for VD though... he coaches a rival and said alot of bad things about the Raiders before we kicked his butt in the Super Bowl.... I respect the mans abilities to lead though... he also was the most knowledgeable college football announcer when that was his gig... even if he was teamed with that twit Musburger.... I reserve my hate for the most part for the Rat in Ronco land... |
C in Wichita I'm not creaming over a non binding pre-season game. However last year during the Rams preseason they gave up a lot of points. During the season guess what smart guy they gave up a lot of points. So yes it does matter.
Vermeil-my take which has changed several times and I will admit to that. Vermeil had a lot to do with the SB run, however it was not his coaching or decision making skills that did it as far as getting the right players right coaches etc it was his ability to put it all toghether. His ability to get the team fired up etc. NO he would have never done it without Martz and Martz decisions to get rid of Tony Banks. Lewis looked dominating at times. Remeber its his first Pro-Game. His sacks were beating people and getting to the QB. Of course you abviously know more about sports then the ESPN and Cbs Sportline writers. |

We probably do know more that most sportswriters. They are East/West coast boneheads who only care for big market teams. |
You don't need to be an expert to decipher what's going on, when you're watching the friggin' game on TV.
Then again, there are still people that insist McGlockton was a run-stuffing, offense-disrupting DT while he was in KC. |
