wtf?

Runnback and Tight end?

wazu 04-27-2008 08:43 AM

Wow. Carl, Herm and Kuharich just magically erased the two 3rd round picks we got in the Allen trade. WTG, morons.

CupidStunt 04-27-2008 08:44 AM

Charles - great pick
Cottam - awful

Rooster 04-27-2008 08:45 AM

Somebody forgot to lock the door and Carl got into the war room.

BigMeatballDave 04-27-2008 08:45 AM

We currently only have 2 TE on the roster. Correct? Cottam looks to be a blocking TE. 6'8" 270.

Don't try to talk logic to anyone.

I've tried and it doesn't work.

Day 2 is hosed. Might as well cash in your chips now.

wazu 04-27-2008 08:47 AM

Hopefully we'll get another TE in this round. We need to fill the massive void at "H-back" left by the departure of Kris Wilson.

Cottam has Carl written all over it IMO. Is he supposed to replace Dunn or is really a project to take over for Gonzo like they are saying? Color me confused. Hope I'm wrong.

I like the Charles pick.

I don't know if Cottam is awful, but I don't like it anywhere near as much as Charles.

Sure sounds that way.

Dunn's replacement.

HolmeZz 04-27-2008 08:48 AM

Charles was a terrific pick, Cottam's a work-in-progress; a 6'7" TE with a 4.6 40 work-in-progress.

I suspect the replacement is for Dunn, who is done.

Please continue your wailing and gnashing of teeth.

Cottam's not a blocker. That's what he needs work on.

He's a receiving Tight End and he's 6'7" and runs a 4.6 40.

Have to admit I went overboard there. I mistakenly thought Cottam was more of a 4.8 guy. He does have great size for a guy who's 20lbs away from being a tackle!

I probably did too. Maybe they have seen something out of this guy that makes them think he can be Jason Dunn. If that's true then it's probably worth a shot, and I probably pulled the trigger on my first draft mini-meltdown a little bit early.

I still think we need to get a guard sometime soon, though.

Sounds more like a OT project or a Jasoin Dunn Jr ?

CanadaKC 04-27-2008 08:58 AM

I love the Dejuan Morgan pick...he's an incredible safety...obviously the Chiefs are thinking stopping the run for their defense...

In the 3rd round, when we have 2 young starting safeties and numerous holes elsewhere?

Yeah I was really disappointed with this last pick with the Safety.

Heading into this draft we knew that we needed to draft about 3 or so O-linemen and thus far we've only drafted one... And he was primarily a Guard.

Come on. Gotta start getting the talent on the O-line.

HolmeZz 04-27-2008 09:00 AM

ESPN loves the Cottam pick.

They are not 100% sold on Pollard?? Hmmmm

Pitt Gorilla 04-27-2008 09:05 AM

Let's see, Tony is getting pretty long in the tooth and Johnson is coming off of an injury as our only proven back. Yeah, I have zero idea why we made these picks.

shaneo69 04-27-2008 09:08 AM

I would've rather had Rucker or Kellen Davis than a guy who missed a bunch of time last year with a wrist injury.

I guess the safety was picked so they could dump Wesley. So far, nothing but backups picked in round 3, although I like the Charles pick.

Jamie Dukes didn't like it. The Chiefs have built up so much draft goodwill with the others that they said we obviously don't think the available DEs were worth drafting there.

IF we start valueing our draft on that dumbass' opinion, we need to hang it up as fans right now.

I'd be shocked if Dukes dresses himself in the morning.

Pitt Gorilla 04-27-2008 09:19 AM

We appear to be drafting for value, not perceived need; that's what a rebuilding team should do. I'm tired of Carl, but whoever is putting this draft together seems to be doing well.

Don417 04-27-2008 09:28 AM

What did you expect? We have two dyslexic monkeys in charge of drafting. This is really no surprise to anyone that's followed this team for the last 10 years.

OH, okay, Herm. Who are you gonna bench? Page or Pollard?

You're the kind of person who would have drafted Clady at #5.

Seriously, what's wrong with adding another safety, letting the other guys compete, and build a strong corps of young players based on them EARNING their position, not just because we had a hole. And maybe, just maybe, finally getting rid of Wesley?
