Tomorrow is the debut of 20 year old left handed pitcher Clayton Kershaw. Its about ****ing time. I cant wait.

milkman 05-24-2008 10:35 PM

Shit.

I have shorts older than that.

Wouldn't be so excited if I was you. Losing two straight at home to the Cards can't be good for maorale. After all the Cardinals suck....just ask anyone here in blue...

what exactly is maorale? is that like a casserole?

I been wanting him to start a game or 2 since last year. If Torre thinks he's ready, then i dont see why he couldnt play. He was tearing it up and was by far the Dodgers best pitcher in spring training. He was tearing it up in the minors. Its his time. Even if he loses. Its his first game at 20 years old. He has a mean ass curve ball. Barry Zito type curve and he throws 97 mph.

Better be careful....Pujols destroyed Lidges stuff and ended his career with one swing. What happens if they rock the kid?

Then he gets rocked. They think he's ready. He has to go against someone. If the kid is really a MLB pitcher he can handle it. Personally, i would rather see him against top notch players. This is a good test to see how headstrong he is. If he falls apart and busts a Ryan Leaf, then he's not a good MLB player.

Anyways, for a coach like Torre to call ya up. They must have alot of confidence in the guy.

L.A. Chieffan 05-24-2008 11:14 PM

Kershaw is like Ben MacDonald, Darren Dreifort, and Todd Van Poppell all rolled into one.

Except he's gonna be good.

Mojo Rising 05-24-2008 11:24 PM

I'll be there to support him. My 1st game at Dodger Stadium since '82!

Good for you. There have been a lot of changes at Dodger Stadium since '82. It truly is a beautiful stadium. I was there for opening day and headed down for the Cub series on 6/6 through 6/8.

If he does not get rocked today then he will get rocked in the future. That is pitching. It is how he responds that is important.

I have this one but its an edited version.

ESPN:
As the baseball soared through the electrified night, you almost wanted the world to stop spinning -- just for a moment -- so you could digest what was unfolding before your eyes.

It was only one swing of Albert Pujols' bat. It was only one baseball, heading for history. It was only one moment in the life of two franchises.

But it was a swing, a baseball, a moment that seemed to change the world.
In an instant, in one click of a camera lens, in one quick gulp of air, in one flash of Albert Pujols' bat, victory dissolved into defeat. Euphoria transformed into disbelief. Eardrum-rattling noise turned to how'd-that-happen silence.

Since he's a lefty, that could make him even more nasty than Blyleven.

He never knows when to quit guys who are stinking it up.

Granted, it's easy for you and I to sit here and call for a stranger's head than it is for a manager to cut/send down a flesh and blood player that he obviously likes, but this is a business, and if you can't cut it, you can't cut it. LaRussa can cut this clown and invite him over for dinner afterward if he feels bad about it. But we need to dump the weak links.

We are doing damned good for the ammount of players we got hurt right now. Nomar, Furcal, Jones and i beleive Kent is hurt. I been so wrapped up in the NBA atm, i have kind of neglected the Dodgers. Not sure if Kent is hurt or not, but thats alot of veteran players right there. We are playing atm with nothing but kids.

Rudy tossed tigger's salad 05-25-2008 09:54 PM

Two years ago he stunk, but last year he was a good player for the stros. At times he dominated in both the set-up and closer role. However he struggled with consistency and sometimes he would give up a big home run or a big inning. Houston decided to move on, but they had to rebuild a completely different team (something like 15 roster players are gone from last year) so the move was understandable. I would take a 2007 Brad Lidge anyday. He has really only had one bad season, so while Pujols may have been a bump in the road, he was hardly a career ender.

Mojo Rising 05-26-2008 12:04 AM

I agree BB is definitely a homer broadcaster. On another note he wasn't charged with an error. In fact Soriano has a 1.000 fielding percentage this year. Kind of surprising to me because I can count 3 in my head that should have been given to him. Being an all-star has its perks I suppose.

Actually the Cubs took a 2-0 lead in the bottom of the first and hung on to beat the Dodgers 3-1 last night. Tonight's was a great game with the Dodgers leading 1-0 going into the bottom of the ninth. Zambrano and Lowe both throwing gems. Cubs tied it in the ninth and pulled out the win in the 10th. Tough loss.

Some how that becomes, "For the second night in a row, they choked away a late game lead against Chicago. " Guess you did not get a chance to watch any of the games.

I'm sorry, but if you go into the bottom of the 9th leading, and at the end of the 9th, you haven't won, YOU HAVE CHOKED.

New to baseball? :shake:

And BTW, I checked the box score from last night's game. LA scored one run in the 4th, Chicago scored 3 in the 7th. So what part of "choked away a late game lead" isn't accurate?

Shit. That would require them to make the playoffs two years in a row. I don't think that's happened in 100 years, either. :D

That is true, but honestly that is the worse i could come up with as far as how much a loss would hurt. If you just suck and don't make the playoffs oh well, but to come SO close hurts the most.
