What do you use to organize and listen to your music on your computer?

I have always used iTunes and liked it ok but now I am getting all my music on Amazon if I don't download it so I am thinking of switching things up. Any recommendations?

I'd recommend sticking with iTunes. However, many people swear by WinAmp, which used to be my player, pre-iTunes.

QuikSsurfer 06-07-2008 10:21 PM

Stick with iTunes

KCUnited 06-07-2008 10:33 PM

iTunes. I still buy every physical cd, spin it once to import and put it in the collection never to be spun again. Why you ask?

Folders and Winamp.

Buehler445 06-08-2008 08:50 AM

I use winamp, but not because it has any special functionality. Its just what I've used forever. My organization is shitty. I used to have it pretty well organized, but have fallen off and it sucks.

Sorry I can't add value :), but I'll be watching this thread.

JBucc 06-08-2008 08:54 AM

I don't. I just have everything in one giant folder.

Deberg_1990 06-08-2008 09:24 AM

Windows Media Player works just fine for me.

KcMizzou 06-08-2008 11:37 AM

winamp

Reaper16 06-08-2008 01:30 PM

I just use iTunes.

Meh, I've used winamp for years with no trouble.

Hammock Parties 06-08-2008 10:22 PM

Winamp. Tried iTunes and really hated it.

I have everything organized in folders, though.

I'll be the first to admit it has it's issues.

patteeu 06-09-2008 06:15 AM

I haven't heard of anything that would lead me to switch from iTunes.

Where are you getting that from? I have never had any more there then iTunes (trying to install a browser? come on).

For myself, it is whatever works for my mp3 player.

That was the biggest non-issue ever. It's actually hilarious. Sure, they should have left the checkmark unchecked, but man was it overblown.

Well, it falls into line with just about anything I have seen from winamp, just unclick what you don't want.

It was bloated. It threw ads at me. It installed crap on my PC I didn't want or need and had to nuke after I had uninstalled iTunes.

In short it was a typical Mac product. :)

Like macs are anywhere close to PCs in terms of bloatware.

I find pretty much every Mac app to be bloated. Filled with frilly crap and shiny graphics I don't need.

Nothing on my PC is bloated because I make sure it's that way.

The Rick 06-09-2008 09:58 AM

iTunes.

So you are not running vista, got it.

Please, do tell.

And yes, for the record, I agree about iTunes and it's "Ministore" intrusions.

I won't argue that Windows doesn't have its fair share of bloatware, but I just wanted to mention how much I despise Quicktime. WTF should I have to install a 22-meg chunk of software just to play one type of video file? That, plus the fact that you're actually installing the entire set of "pro" software that's just locked down until you buy it, pisses me right off. I almost hate it as much as RealPlayer. Grr.

I haven't used iTunes enough to know if I hate it, but I've never had any issues with WinAmp. The entire thing is only a few megs, though I do get annoyed by the stuff you have to uncheck upon install.

Quicktime is the one aspect of OSX I wish they'd totally revamp. Lose the "pro", include all codecs, etc. Essentially, make it "just work (TM)"

Best.

CoMoChief 06-09-2008 03:43 PM

WinAmp is better. Make sure you get the original version, it runs much better.

Nightwish 06-09-2008 09:25 PM

Folders and Windows Media Player for the 5,000 or so song files I already had on my computer from before the Rhapsody days. All new downloads, though - Rhapsody Unlimited. Blows iTunes into the dirt!
