Army Training, SIR!!!
Hello Planet, Greetings from Sunny Ft. Hunter Leggitt in Jolon CA. I'm here for three weeks, right now anyway (more on that to follow) and the first week is down.
So far we've not done anything here, we couldn't have done at home, in St. Louis. Class room stuff. We are on an alcohol ban, so I'm in serious withdrawls right now, HA But funny story the first day we were getting settled in and my buddy Rob was next to me in the barracks and the desk between us had two bottles of jack, one bottle of crown (all almost empty) a half bottle of Black Velvet and a full bottle of captain's. Needless to say we let our bosses know about it (honor, integrity, blah blah blah...) and had to throw it all out. But two of the biggest drinkers having liquer in their desk is beyond hysterical (to me anyway). If we would have found it a day or two later no one would believe we had found it. I'll attach a couple pictures, of the sights, the barracks, the big out of control forest fire that is bearing down on us. It's a blast! [/sarcasm] On the bright side we do have a swimming pool, I'll attach a pic of that too. The army really knows how to take care of us!!! Thank you Tax payers!!!! CC |
Are you the PLO?
|
Are you going to Iraq?
|
Coffey, it's been a while. what have you gotten yourself into this time?
Are you in the reserves? or did you enlist? |
What the hell are you doing on an Army base? Get your happy ass back to civilian life before they decide to ship you someplace really warm and sunny.
|
You're in a building WITH internet? WTF? Someone messed up! You should be in a tent!!!
;) |
I re-upped in Nov. (after 8 years of being out) I'm in the Reserves. I had a real possibility of going over in Aug. Up till a few weeks ago I thought it was a sure thing. I just didn't tell alot of people.
The unit I'm with got back almost a year ago, so as long as they don't threaten me with going over on a different companies roster, I'm good till early - mid next year. |

LOL We've been tasked to do OPFOR for the poor saps in the tents.... |

I'm having problems downloading pics, I haven't tried since the conversion is there something I should do?
|
Did it come with pie
|
The desk in question, and our lovely swimming pool - "last one in is a rotten egg!"
:cuss: |
And that's neither me, or "Rob" in the photo
|
So, two days ago we hear a forest fire started out in the woods several miles away from us, no problem. We can see the smoke but are confident in our leaders that "all is well"
:doh!: |

Then of course day two, yesterday - looked a little bit worse. first pic in morning, second around 3pm. :(
|
You're the freaking ARMY! Do something!!
|
Bringing us to today, this morning and around 1pm in these pics.
civilians are evacuated, but we're going to stay around a little bit longer.:shake: you can tell the afternoon pic looks dark, well that's because the smoke created a nice cloud cover, that was right over us. |
that cloud/smoke cover - yeah this is it around 5pm.
thankfully the wind changed directions just as the smoke was settling down on top of us. Could have been a nice large amount of soliders falling out with smoke inhalation.... |

what do you want us to do? shoot the fire with blanks? ROFL wildfire fighters are up there, several helicopters are dropping fire reerunant on it, we should just be leaving.... |
I have another mission to go out and run. be gone for a few hours and may make it back on before I go to sleep. If not I'll be on tomorrow. SOMEBODY CALL YOUR SENATORS AND GET US OUT OF HERE!!!!!

Congrats on reupping! (I'm getting ready to drop my paperwork - probably in September).
As for the fire..... OF COURSE your leadership knows that "all is well" - how could you have forgotten that? :) |
Crazy you silly-bastard keep your ass down and your head buried in the sand ... Throw grenades every 3 minutes till you no longer hear arabic spoken ... Then catch the next flight home .... btw.. Good luck buddy .... BOOG ....
|
Good Luck out there!
Oh BTW... Tell your CO to lift the ban on the drinking. Then everyone can sit around filling up their bladders to go put out the fire! |

Best idea to date. I miss a cold frosty adult beverage..... What's sad about the military, or my time in the military, I learned that O'douls actually has some alcohol content. You have to drink 72 to equal one budweiser. Drink up boys, we gots a fire to put out!!!!! |
