The Beaumont is not tiny. Easily my favorite venue in the westport area.
This show is going to sell out fast.

Opeth AND High on Fire?!?

This is the concert of the YEAR, folks.

Years back, before I was of legal drinking age, a friend and I were coming back from a 3 or 4 hour show at the Beaumont when I got pulled over. Because of the pitch of the shoulder, I couldn't see anything in my driver side mirror. I did see an officer approach the passenger side, so I started to talk to him when my friend told me that another cop had been tapping his flashlight on my window.

The cop thought I was drunk because of how long it took me to understand what he was saying, and after I explained we were coming back from the Beaumont, he let me go.

I hope Lopez does something soon. I really like his drumming.

I hope he gets well enough to do some recording for a new project at least. The reason he left Opeth was because his blood disease prevented him from touring.

Well even a recording project would be good. I one interview he said that him and Mendez were planning on doing something more in a 'Tool' vein as a side project. If you listen to 'Ghost of Perdition' and know of Tool's song 'The Grudge', that actually makes sense.

How do you mean?

You don't hear a very similar drum pattern in those two?

The "pattern" or time signature changes 3 to 4 times in just about every tool song.
I've very familiar with both bands (and both songs you mentioned) but I don't see a comparison in the two songs.

I think it is really obvious. It's not a big deal to me though, I love both songs.

I'm not an Opeth fan, but I dig High On Fire. I'm more looking forward to the Origin and Abysmal Dawn show at The Jackpot on Aug. 9th.

Origin are sweet.

I wish I could say I was into them from the start, but in the beginning when they were winning every Pitch award and playing all over the city I didn't really care for them. They've definitely continued to improve, its an acquired taste for sure.

Tickets go on sale this Saturday.

Diskreet goes on at 5 pm. Menace to sobriety begins around 3 pm in the neighborhood.

Me and my lady friend will be heading up there around 5:30.. I thought Abigal Williams were playing first (they're the TBA guests)
I'm looking forward to seeing Arsonists Get all the Girls, Winds of Plague, and Parkway Drive... I'm pissed because As Blood Runs Black didn't get on the bill.

The Beaumonts site says that the show starts at 5:45 p.m. My buddy talked to the singer for Diskreet last week and he said they were playing at 5 pm. Who knows. I'm catching a cab to Westport around 3 pm. I'm looking forward to seeing Arsis, I already know Darkest Hour puts on a great show.

Are u buying tickets at the door? Any idea on the cost?
I know they were $20 a piece online.

I bought mine a few weeks ago for 20 online, I'm guessing they will be the same at the door or maybe 25. I haven't heard a whole lot of buzz, I know a couple of my friends plan on paying at the door as well.

Stick to your Guns sounded good but their set being cut short from some "accident" in the crowd put a stop to that..
AGATG sounded liked shit - no sound check.
Abigal Williams were having band problems (and sound problems)
Winds of Plague were okay
Highlight of the night was Parkway Drive.

I had never heard the Lawrence band "Hester Prynn" - they were pretty ****ing brutal. I definitely enjoyed them. I believe they were the first band to play outside by the beach club yesterday.
