Who is going to see the Dark Knight this weekend?

I'm super pumped that it's almost here...

I am going likely friday night visiting my friend in Madison, WI, to see on a HUGE Screen.

So far

Hammock Parties 07-14-2008 02:54 PM

Midnight showing. Gonna wait in line for 2 hours. Booyah!

Frazod 07-14-2008 02:56 PM

Definitely. I won't deal with the opening night madness, but I'll certainly see it by Sunday.

The Franchise 07-14-2008 02:57 PM

I'll be going this weekend. I'm not really sure when but I'll definitely be going.

You might be better off starting a thread to see who isn't going.

Sure-Oz 07-14-2008 02:58 PM

I probably will see this multiple times, also watched the IMAX 7min prologue last night after i got my Batman Begins for BluRay(it was included as a special feature), ****ing siiiiiick!

Fire Me Boy! 07-14-2008 02:59 PM

Wife and I and some friends are doing a Hellboy 2/Dark Knight double feature on Sunday.

eazyb81 07-14-2008 03:01 PM

My buddy just picked up tickets for Friday night at the IMAX showing.

Bowser 07-14-2008 03:04 PM

The beauty of working a Tuesday through Saturday job will allow me to walk up and snag some early afternoon IMAX tix for me and my daughter. Heh.

Even the negative review has me pumped to see it:

"This movie is grim and jammed together. The narrative isn't shaped coherently to bring out contrasts and build toward a satisfying climax. The Dark Knight is constant climax; it's always in a frenzy, and it goes on forever."

Saw that....definetly excited....i was almost hoping it'd get a 100% LMAO

Demonpenz 07-14-2008 03:11 PM

htf can you give it a bad review. Look at it. It's glorious

Sure-Oz 07-14-2008 03:21 PM

Quote from an article i saw somewhere online about the movie

"As loaded as the film is with visual firepower and multiple character arcs, Ledger's Joker does dominate - and the conviction he brings to his performance in The Dark Knight only compounds the tragedy and magnitude of his loss."

I am going to the 6:45 show in Olathe at the IMAX. I am stoked hopefully it will live up to the hype

Deberg_1990 07-14-2008 03:33 PM

Ill go see it most def.

I love how its being described as "Heat" or "The Godfather" with costumes.

Ill probably shell out the extra $$ for IMAX as well. I heard there are 6 action scenes filmed in IMAX.

I noticed there are a few theaters showing this all night starting late Thursday/early Friday morning. Whos going to the 3:15am showing?? :)

El Jefe 07-14-2008 03:34 PM

Bite your tongue.

CoMoChief 07-14-2008 03:45 PM

This looks like one of the best movies to come out in a long while. Box office wise that is. I can't wait. I'm seeing it at midnight as well.

QuikSsurfer 07-14-2008 03:51 PM

Bought my tickets for the 12:05 showing Thursday night.. can't wait!

Frazod 07-14-2008 03:54 PM

Ledger being dead will make everything that much more poignant; especially if the Joker dies in the end, which I assume he does.

irishjayhawk 07-14-2008 04:15 PM

I'm seeing it Thursday and then Friday. I'm not sure what time. Friends are going at 645 on Friday. I don't know why seeing as it's a full 5-6 dollars more than the afternoon.

Not to spoil, but I'm not sure that's accurate.

Hammock Parties 07-14-2008 05:24 PM

This week is going to be awesome. Hellboy II and The Dark Knight.

Pablo 07-14-2008 05:25 PM

I plan on seeing it. It opens up on my birthday, so I guess I won't have to pay for it.

w00t for that.

Nolan should get Keaton and Nicholson to come back and play in the 3rd Batman flick.

"The Dark Knight III: The Golden Years"

jjchieffan 07-14-2008 08:06 PM

I am going. The Aurora drive in is playing it along with Journey to the center of the Earth this weekend. I am planning on going then.

Honestly, seems like a horrible movie to go watch at a drive in. Since almost every scene is intentionly dark.

Not to mention the sound.
You're going to want to see this movie in the theater.

It's also very hard to watch the movie when you're getting head.
I've been to many drive-ins.

Yeah, I love drive-in's... but this needs to been seen in crystal clarity with digital sound.

Yea Drive-ins are great. When i was a kid, we used to go to the old Crest Drive in in Grandview and the 63rd st. in Raytown.

Also went to the Twin up in Independece quite a few times. I undestand its still there.

kcchiefsus 07-15-2008 01:09 AM

I am going to the 3:30 a.m. Friday morning show at the IMAX in Olathe.

Spicy McHaggis 07-15-2008 01:13 AM

Seeing it Saturday morning at the IMAX. I'm pretty geeked for this.

mcan 07-15-2008 01:30 AM

Midnite showing here in Manhattan (small theater but all digital) on Thursday.

Bringing my brother, his boyfriend (yeah you heard right) and Angela in to see it with me. (for those of you who know Angel)

irishjayhawk 07-15-2008 02:57 AM

Well, I was going to go with friends at 645 on Friday but it doesn't look like that's going to happen. :( It sold out. I waited too long. Of course, if all goes well that would have been my second screening. I'm seeing it on Thursday either before or at midnight, Non-Imax or Imax respectively.

Maybe they'll still have 645 tickets when I call tomorrow.

keg in kc 07-15-2008 09:47 AM

11:55 am friday morning. IMAX.

RockChalk 07-15-2008 10:26 AM

I've never seen a movie in IMAX form...what's the difference?

Jilly 07-15-2008 10:29 AM

Friday at the IMAX and then Mama Mia later! I'M SO excited for the weekend!

MaxFects 07-15-2008 10:36 AM

My company is paying for us to see it! I'm also going with some friends later opening night also. Gonna be sweet!

RNR 07-15-2008 10:41 AM

I made a bet with a Laker fan that the Celtics would beat them. We bet lunch he asked to go double or nothing saying he thought Hancock would make more money in its 1st month than Dark Knight would :spock: I said ok :thumb:

Talk is there's a better than even chance he'd have gotten an oscar for it had he not died. He's apparently that good in it. And of course many seem to think a posthumous statue is a shoe in.

His being dead I would think helps in getting him the Oscar, as he obviously won't have any more chances to give him the award (using basically the same theory, the Academy tends to give old farts awards for performances that wouldn't normally be deserving of the award, as their shelf life is getting to short for comfort). If he delivers a deserving performance, and it looks like he did, I say give him the award. Just in the 30 seconds I've seen him in the trailers, the performance looks incredible.

beavis 07-15-2008 02:45 PM

I'm scared. There is way too much hype around this flick for it to hold up.

It sounds like the second coming of Empire, to be honest.

Sad as it is, I haven't seen Batman Begins yet.

That will change shortly though, as I found a guy selling a HD-DVD of it for $5.

Picking it up this afternoon - looking forward to it.

Looks like I might be seeing The Dark Knight on IMAX Saturday afternoon.
