Paul Newman has 'weeks' to live. Prayers to him

What a great actor and wonderful human being. It's very sad to hear this news.

Paul Newman has finished chemotherapy and has told his family he wants to die at home.

It was reported Friday that Newman, 83, had only weeks to live and had returned home to his wife, Joanne Woodward.

The Oscar-winning actor was pictured being pushed from a New York cancer hospital in a wheelchair.

"Paul didn't want to die in the hospital," a source said. "Joanne and his daughters are beside themselves with grief."

NewChief 08-09-2008 01:31 PM

That's horrible. I can't believe he's 83 years old, though.

BigVE 08-09-2008 01:37 PM

Too sad. To me it looks like he lived a pretty darn good life. Condolences to his family.

He's too good to be true.

007 08-09-2008 01:44 PM

Wow, I hadn't even heard about this. I absolutely loved his movies.

LocoChiefsFan 08-09-2008 01:44 PM

Who's going to do Doc Hudsons voice on the Cars sequel? Sad news.

Phobia 08-09-2008 01:46 PM

It's a shame he's going out that way and I feel badly for his family but I'm not gonna get all busted about over a guy who had 83 years on this earth living in the 99.9% of luxury. He had a good run.

True, but I wouldn't wish my worst cancer on my worst enemy on their way off the planet...

that is the sad part. Someone like him who has been so blessed and given so much has to suffer at the end of their life.

Apparently he has lung cancer. Here he is in 1966 and on his birthday last year.

I guess I just picture him like he is on the Newman's salad dressing labels.

Mr. Flopnuts 08-09-2008 02:09 PM

Well, it won't be long before the dressing goes to shit.

He gave so much through his foundation. Great human.

Deberg_1990 08-09-2008 02:58 PM

Yea, its been rumored for awhile that he doesnt have too much longer. Im with Phobia, hes lived a good life, and hes 83.

Its too bad him and Redford never will have one last great film together.

blueballs 08-09-2008 03:04 PM

minus Midnight Vulture of course

gblowfish 08-09-2008 03:31 PM

Newman will always be one of my favorites because he starred in "Slap Shot."
One of the best sports movies ever.

Great flick. "Daves a Killer!"

Hammock Parties 08-09-2008 04:39 PM

I bet Paul Newman could still walk into most any bar and have sex with anyone he wanted.

JuicesFlowing 08-09-2008 04:40 PM

As much of a legend as Paul Newman is, I just haven't seen many of his movies, which is a shame. The Color of Money was absolutely terrific ...

I tried to convince the ex to name our kid Coolhand...at least as a middle name... even though the kid turned out to be a girl.

Tribal Warfare 08-09-2008 07:31 PM

Is it me, or does it seem like a alot of hollywood stars and legends have been dying lately at an alarming rate.

Otter 08-09-2008 07:32 PM

Great man. Great actor.

And Slapshot IS the greatest sports movie of all time.
