Good sites?
I've been looking around Fantasy Football Today. Any other good sites for researching players/rankings/stats? Getting my list together for my draft in two weeks. I'm hanging on to two RB's (Barber and Westbrook). So I'll be drafting 3 QB's, 2 RB's, 5 WR's, 2 TE's, 2 K's, and 2 DST's.

QB RB RB WR WR TE K DEF I would go with 2QB's, 4-5RB's, 6-7WR, 1K and 1DEF... Generally you want to grab extra RB's and WR's and then trade them if you need something else or want an upgrade later.. RB's are worth more this year then ever, because of the pushout rule.. |
Ohh, just buy a couple fantasy mags for values..
|
The best tips I can give you is, try to get RB's from good offenses that get in the endzone alot...
With QB's and WR's think of teams that have bad defenses and need to score alot, or teams that will be losing alot, these teams will be throwing alot more to either with the other team or playing catch up. |

You need to know what you're starting positions are, the only position you should ever overdraft is RB.

I'm not asking how many. I'm asking about good sites for research. |

What the starting positions are should heavily affect how you draft. |

I inherited a team, of which I get to keep two players. Of the 4 RB's I would have to draft, I've already got 2.

Don't take a kicker till one of the very last rounds.....and try to get one thats on a team like NE, Dallas or New Orleans.
Finding a site to research is hit or miss because it's basically going to be someones opinion, that's about half of fantasy football pegging who your breakout players are and hoping they pan out. I won several leagues several years back because in back to back years I pegged Javon Walker and Chad Johnsons breakout years. Keep your 2 RB's, try to get another one with one of your first 3 picks, look for a top notch QB and WR in there also. |
Make sure you look at the bye weeks for teams. Several of the big name players all have the same bye weeks this year.
|
I know how to draft. I'm looking for...oh, never mind.
|
You're not going to find a site that says "take these guys" the site you draft on will have them ranked in a "fantasy production order"
Most of fantasy football is using your knowledge to beat the other people, drafting the breakout guy they missed or the guy they don't know about. |

Are you willing to spend a few $$?
http://www.fantasyguru.com/ If not, another good one. http://www.fantasyfootballcafe.com/ Plenty of good sites out there. |
Look at teams depth charts and who's performing well in preseason, everyone will know all about the RB's the best positions to find a sleeper at is you're 3rd or 4th WR or a TE.

Guys, she wants cheatsheets.....nothing wrong with that. (Mecca, she didn't need a clinic on the subject, sheesh.)
My faves.... http://www.footballdiehards.com/ That one is cool 'cause you can load your league's scoring settings and it will put players in the appropriate order. http://www.kffl.com/ This one is pretty good, it tiers the players so if you can't decide which player to draft, take the higher tiered one. Oh, and you're gonna want to draft kickers early and often. Don't get rattled if everone else starts grabbing RB's first, you can pick them up in later rounds.;) |

I already know that the QB I'm dropping won't be available when I get to pick. We can see each others' teams and know pretty much who everyone's going to keep. Out of Barber, Westbrook, and Palmer, the one I don't keep will be gone in the second pick. I've already been told...lol. |
I was being facetious about the kicker thing..... I won't even draft a kicker in my live league, I wait until week 1 and pick one off waivers after depth charts are shaken out. I actually didn't even draft a defense last year, I just picked up a different one each week based on matchups. I won that league, too.

Picked up a couple of good magazines today. Getting pretty pumped.

I would also highly recommend www.pigskinsanity.com for week to week questions. It is run at least in part by Mile High Mania and has several very knowledgeable players who are more than willing to answer questions when you have them.

Last year I did all the work myself, and got first place in my league. I copied/pasted stats of the best 20 at each position into Excel, and did the FF scoring calculations based on the previous season. It didn't take all that long, and since I hadn't played in a few years, it gave me a good idea of how to draft. I came up with a pretty good draft board, and was able to see the point differences between positions.
But, a few good/lucky decisions, like Ryan Grant, helped.... oh, and Peyton Manning throwing to Randy Moss. :) |

Hope I didn't piss on your parade and good luck but if you want to be the best at FF just remember it's alot of luck and alot of going with your gut and not some geek writing an article. |

And yes, they are outdated. One good thing is that it lists what the bye weeks are next to the players. I won't have a laptop with me when I draft, so that's less writing I'll have to do. |
