Can Croyle be Gannon?

With our offense and his play style, does this kid have it to play like Gannon? He seems quick on his feet, can scramble and is comfy rolling out.

I think we are going to see some surprising plays from him this year with his feet. Games we might not of won with the likes of a Huard, Green or Grbac that we did win with Gannon.

Thoughts?

Not quite that good but you know what I mean.

Quesadilla Joe 08-28-2008 07:37 PM

Wow what a few series against the Rams 3rd string will do to a messageboard.ROFL

teedubya 08-28-2008 07:39 PM

I'd like to see him THROW A ****ING TOUCHDOWN...

the better question should be... Can Croyle play Quarterback?

The Bad Guy 08-28-2008 07:40 PM

It's like some of you are just dying to find some small comparison to any successful QB for Croyle.

Good god. This is like knowing you're dating an ugly chick, but you keep talking yourself into finding good qualities about her to make yourself feel better.

Amen.

Everyone wants to compare Brodie to NFL QBs who actually moved the ball down the field consistently.

How about he actually has some success first before people say "Can Croyle be (X)".

petegz28 08-28-2008 07:42 PM

I don't care how we score. Just score.

Deberg_1990 08-28-2008 07:45 PM

At this point id settle for: Can Brodie be Steve Fuller??

The fact that he was so shitty last year, and then comes in this preseason and still can't move the ball with any consistency is really alarming.

At this point, I'm wondering if Croyle can be as good as Heath Schuler.

teedubya 08-28-2008 07:47 PM

Can Brodie be Matt Blundin?

KCJohnny 08-28-2008 07:49 PM

Its not encouraging that he looked below average in PS even with the Chanification of the O. If the Chiefs were serious about competing this year, I'd have signed Pennington or start Huard.

and then i see guys like Colt Brennan and Matt Ryan (rookies) come in and light it up in preseason.

Not saying those guys will be good, but Brodie should have moved the ball better in preseason games.

JP Losman.......that is exactly what he reminds me of right now.

BC's better than Old Man Gannon ever was in a Chiefs uniform, word.....

You can't sign Pennington for what Miami gave him. 5.5 mill a year is ridiculous for him.

You also can't start Huard. You can't tear down the house and say we are rebuilding and then start a 35 year old QB.

I just wish the Chiefs had some younger talented QB to unseat Croyle.

Croyle, to me, will never, ever be a consistent NFL starting QB.

I mentioned it in another thread, but Croyle is basically Charlie Frye with the Browns 2-3 years ago.

Hes a placeholder until a real QB comes along.

They should have used that 6th round pick on Colt Brennan instead of Kevin Robinson...ah well we'll be in position to draft a QB next year.

Solid comparison, a Frye Losman clone.

So you think Croyle will ever win 8 or 9 games in a row like Gannon once did for the Chiefs?? ROFL

I sure do, maybe not this year, but it'll happen. He's got skills

He has a big arm.

Besides that, he has little skill.

Mecca 08-28-2008 08:13 PM

If every QB with a big arm was good, Kyle Boller and JP Losman would be superstars and JaMarcus Russell would be the next HOFer.

No no that's not my thing. but in all honesty I wanted Grbac over Gannon at the time. Just the memory of that has been cause for alot of second guessing myself over the years. But I really do thin BC's going to be a good QB for us for many years to come.

TrickyNicky 08-28-2008 08:18 PM

He's just not accurate. I don't care if you can throw 60 yards, if you can't hit a receiver in stride 15 yards, then what the **** good are you? Maybe on the endzone fade, he can throw it into the first row again...

For the record, at the time i wanted Grbac over Gannon as well. I thought he had more upside. ROFL

But i dont agree about Croyle. I dont see much beyond a nice arm. But who knows???

He's got presence in the huddle, listen to the team these guys will love him. It's crazy that people overlook this characteristic, it's vital to a winner. he's not dumb by any means and with a basic offence and a running game who knows. He can obviously move a little and as you say he has a good arm. those are skills aren't they? give him time you'll see

Mecca 08-28-2008 08:22 PM

What about his injury problem?

You can't build your team around a QB that can't stay on the field.

I never have told anyone that before, my wife knows and I have 0 cred with her when it comes to picking qb's.

that's the deal. no way around that. separated shoulder and an ACL.. Maybe Chan can help keepm him out of harms way. But your right that's the most legit knock against him

Speaking of Browns, I wonder who will win the Brady Quinn sweepstakes?
