Darling not down? Chiefs miss big time?

If you go back and look when he was tackled he rolled on top of the defender at the 5 his knee never touching and then he rolled onto his feet. He walked away. I do not think he was down. If he was it might have been at the 2. Go back and look.

RealSNR 09-08-2008 02:47 PM

I went back and looked at the footage. We still lost

JuicesFlowing 09-08-2008 02:49 PM

I doubt they can get tape sent to the league office, and have the game replayed. So we lost. On to week 2 .......

Actually the refs blew that but the coaches should have said something I don't think he was down.

Redrum_69 09-08-2008 02:53 PM

and there was a missed timeout called...so we got a free play and if we had scored a td it wouldnt have counted..

then imagine the turmoil from that.

then there was pass intereference on the pass to Bowe.

Sometimes when you lose, you still win. BRADY DOWN WOO HOO

Herm should have challenged the spot on what looked like a safety as well. I guess he was too busy dreaming about that next field goal.

CosmicPal 09-08-2008 02:55 PM

What the viewers didn't see was that he actually rolled into the endzone untouched and scored.

But, we didn't see that on TV because New England hires some pretty darn good cameramen who can take the footage of an actual touchdown and immediately make it look like the player was instead tackled a few yards short. The original footage is deleted and the fake footage is immediately superimposed. They do a remarkable job of doing all of this and making the final product appear like an authentic live play.

Sure-Oz 09-08-2008 02:57 PM

Darling should've pulled away regardless, i thought he was a burner

Because he's slow.

Micjones 09-08-2008 04:48 PM

The defender did take a good angle on Darling though.
Darling probably should've run to the left side of the field. That would've given him the best angle to have taken it into the endzone. I'm definitely going to review the play when I get in though.

The video is on his player page at NFL.com.

Yea, the Patriots cheated ******* F***em!

Hammock Parties 09-08-2008 04:51 PM

Devard Darling was NOT run down by Rodney Harrison. He was tackled by Deltha O'Neal, who he probably could have outrun had Ellis Hobbs not forced him into O'Neal's path.

And just for the record, yes, his knee was down.

He couldn't run to the left because Hobbs was coming from that side.

Hobbs and O'Neal sandwiched him.

we choked a huge upset away thats really all it comes down to

ClevelandBronco 09-08-2008 06:41 PM

If he let go of the ball and he wasn't down, then it was a fumble.

Probably better that they let you keep the football.

Hydrae 09-08-2008 06:48 PM

Any team with first and goal from the 5 needs to score. Period.

[Jose Lima]Please[/Jose Lima]

He was too busy dreaming about the field position the next punt would create.

HypnotizedMonkey 09-08-2008 06:51 PM

kinda reminded me of the ty law interception against Indy in the playoffs that we couldn't get into the end zone. Both of those a-holes should have scored.

KCheavy 09-08-2008 06:52 PM

I dont understand why chan put the game in Huards hands. we could have ran the ball with LJ up the gut or Charles to the outside all four plays and gotten a TD

There was like, 45 seconds left. We had one timeout. That's time for one running play, a timeout, another running play, and a mad scramble to get one more play off...or spike the ball and get 3 plays instead of 4.

Considering we got STUFFED on the one run we did attempt down there, I'm not so sure that's a wise plan of attack.

Besides, WE HAD THE TOUCHDOWN. Bowe ****ed it up.

KCheavy 09-08-2008 07:15 PM

True, you are right but besides that play i think we should have run a toss or sweep play to charles and he could've burned around the corner and got in

You really can't tell by that if you look at the video he was not that pic shows he was down at the 3 if he was even down and not the 5

Hammock Parties 09-09-2008 01:13 PM

His knee is down, dude.

DaKCMan AP 09-09-2008 02:30 PM

Darling ran a 4.52 40 at the NFL combine in 2004. That's hardly 'blazing' speed. O'Neal ran a 4.38.

Hammock Parties 09-09-2008 02:37 PM

I think he's faster than that 40 time. The Chiefs certainly indicated as much this offseason.

Brock 09-09-2008 02:40 PM

He must not be all that fast.

So you never had the lead, we lost our QB in the 1st quarter, and the only reason you got to the 5 was a horrible playcall and horrible execution on the long pass play.

That's "choking" away a huge upset? :spock:

We dropped the tying touchdown pass. Choke job.

You know there was no way you were stopping our 2-point conversion. By that point there was no way you could have stopped us from gaining two yards on a dive. We were MASTERS OF THE TWO-YARD DIVE!!!!

I agree, you did drop the tying TD pass. Bowe should have cuaght that, though it wasn't the easiest catch in history or anything.

I'm still not sure it qualifies as a choke job, however.

Micjones 09-09-2008 03:11 PM

The defenders did a great job running Darling down.
Can't take anything away from them.

He turned the catch into a 68-yarder so I can't much complain about him being caught.

Hammock Parties 09-09-2008 03:11 PM

Whatever, Bowe choked.

What do you think would have happened in overtime? If you guys won the toss I'm guessing you would have just run right over us.

If we had won the toss Darling would have toasted everyone again, setting up Nick Novak's game winner, which would have been blocked and run back for a touchdown by Rodney Harrison, who would be too fast for any of our offensive players to catch.

Micjones 09-09-2008 03:12 PM

I don't remember the play now, but I've heard it said several times since Sunday that Bowe didn't have to leave his feet. Do any of you recall?

Almost all receivers these days jump to catch balls they have no valid reason jumping for.

Hard to say honestly...
The ball did look to be coming down though.
