I know there is already a thread about it but didn't want it buried.

No blackout: Chiefs will be on TV
Sunday's Chiefs-Broncos game will be televised locally on Channel 5 KCTV, even though the game has not completely sold out.

"We have met the league requirements for what constitutes a sellout," said Chiefs assistant director of public relations Pete Moris. "We got some tickets back from Denver earlier in the week and we have some tickets of our own still left for sale but we're close enough (to a sellout) per league rules to have the game shown here."

Generally, games must be sold out 72 hours in advance of kickoff to prevent any local television blackout, although extensions have been granted almost routinely in recent years.

Bowser 09-25-2008 03:03 PM

Great, now everyone can experience futility and humiliation in HD!

I'm guessing they'll do like home Royals games and try to pan to the crowd as little as possible.

Frazod 09-25-2008 03:03 PM

Sweet. If I have to suffer through watching this turd, all of you locals should, too.

CoMoChief 09-25-2008 03:03 PM

Personally I'd rather not see a complete ass kicking by DEN.......but whatever.....

Buck 09-25-2008 03:03 PM

Didn't you give me shit for this?

StcChief 09-25-2008 03:03 PM

Attendance.... 40K?

chasedude 09-25-2008 03:03 PM

If the team continues it's woes a blackout will defiantly happen sometime this year.

BigVE 09-25-2008 03:14 PM

I'm sure the announcement that Huard is starting over Thiggy made all the difference in this game selling out. NOW we have a chance. Right? Nah.

sedated 09-25-2008 03:16 PM

where's the best place to get cheap tickets in advance? and not by paying face through the Chiefs?

FAX 09-25-2008 03:17 PM

Wow. That's kind of amazing, really.

FAX

kstater 09-25-2008 03:20 PM

At least one of the brokers in KC was advertising tickets for less than face. Can't remember which one though; although I am sure that if one is they all are.

Thanks Carl and Herm; you made it cheap to go to a game! :thumb:

Yeah I am sure the league just looking the other way now.. Would be in the leagues and teams best interest not to lose the local revenue generated from the game being televised..

Just wish they would come out publicly and can the whole damn blackout rule period..

There is truth to this..

Keading.. Chiefs fans have been putting up with ineptness for decades, they are trying to force changes in the front office..

Chargers fans will not even pack the house when their team is good let alone when you go back to sucking here in a year or so..

You can probably walk in from across the highway and just pick up free tickets or for a couple dollars in the parking lot..

Oh so its okay for you guys to stop going to games after a few years of sucking.

Its not like our fanbase was pushed away from years of horrible teams and management either, well at least according to your statement.

Need I remind you that from 1996 to 2003 we didn't have a winning season?

Also from 1983, to 1993 we had 2 winning season, and one was an 8-7 season.

So in a 20 year period, they had 4 winning seasons, but its still ****ed up that we have blackouts?

JuicesFlowing 09-25-2008 04:22 PM

I'm just amused that so many Chiefs fans on this website are disgruntled that the Chiefs are on TV.

It's like a bloody, dismembering car accident. You just can't help but look.

Not me. I'm gruntled.

JuicesFlowing 09-25-2008 04:41 PM

Okay, okay. My point is, if you're not going to watch, then why talk about them? Yes, the car accident metaphor was nice, I agree.

'Hamas' Jenkins 09-25-2008 05:13 PM

Current league rules define a sell out as "equal to 50% of the seats in the staidum plus the remaining seats in proportion to the win-loss-tie record of the previousl year."

That one was better, and if someone's head was rolling around on the highway I couldn't help but look. After all, with my car's low clearance, a fat head could cause some damage. Heads would... er, nevermind. However, people who slow down to watch wrecks suck. Watch it on the news and drive. :cuss:

Really though, I think it's TiC.... and deep down, we're gluttons for punishment and want to see every excruciating moment . Well, I do until halftime anyway.

New Yorker 09-25-2008 06:01 PM

I am actually shocked that Chiefs/Broncs isn`t sold out. I have a lot of respect towards Chiefs fans. Always pack the house, always wearing Red and I`ve seen some of the best looking tailgate parties from KC.

I hope things turn around for you guys. I`ve always had a deep respect for KC fans throughout the years.

We don`t have non-sellouts here in NYC. We do have tons of no-shows for Jets games, but those people simply eat their tickets. Never understood how people pay $300+ for tickets and then eat them?

Bla bla bla bla.

YOUR TEAM IS A DEFENDING DIVISION CHAMPION

YOUR FAN BASE IS PATHETIC.

If the Chiefs were coming off a division championship Arrowhead would STILL be packed right now, even if we were 0-3. It was packed in 2004 when we were 0-3.

How many AFC championships you been to in 10 years?? Any Superbowls??

Is your fanbase trying to oust a greedy dickhead the likes of Carl?? Unlike Charger fans, we do not want to put up with shit for an extended peroid of time.. So blackouts and no shows are fans only weapons in change..

I think its time for you guys to stage a walkout ala the Lions 2 years ago. Within a couple years, CP will be fired.
