Herm chose to get shut out.

4th and inches in the red zone, down 34-0 with 40 seconds left in the gameand Herm goes for it? What was the point? Were we going to get the ball back and score 4 more touchdowns in the last 40 seconds? Why in the world didn't we go for the field goal and at least avoid the shutout? Can anyone explain that to me? It's like we are still playing preseason where the score doesn't matter.

I guess Herm just wanted to start his next 12 game losing streak by being shut out.

Mr. Flopnuts 10-05-2008 02:37 PM

I think he was punishing his players. Let them all share in that embarrassment.

BigRock 10-05-2008 02:40 PM

Who the hell kicks the field goal there? The icon on this thread should be a vagina.

Mr. Laz 10-05-2008 02:40 PM

actually i think most coaches go for the 1st/touchdown

going to keep the drive alive allows them to pretend to still be trying to win the game.

kicking the field goal admits that they were just trying to avoid being embarrassed.

that said the 4th down play call just sucked

4th down and all you got is a simple off tackle run that hasn't worked all game?!? :shake:

kcxiv 10-05-2008 02:41 PM

I am actually kind of glad they did. I want Herm the **** out of here.

Um, coaches who don't wish to be shut out.

What? There were like 40 seconds left in the 4th quarter down 34-0. Who were they fooling?

i know, i know but they all do it

it's the macho ... never quit not matter what stuff.

chiefs1111 10-05-2008 02:48 PM

Herm is a dumb ass

PastorMikH 10-05-2008 02:49 PM

If the kicker doesn't kick, the kicker doesn't miss and thus doesn't need replaced during the bye.

Hootie 10-05-2008 02:49 PM

no one kicks a field goal there

is this a real thread?

007 10-05-2008 02:49 PM

Down by 34? Hell yes you play for a touchdown. Screw a field goal just to avoid a shutout. Thats chickenshit.

Thank you Captain Obvious.

Coach 10-05-2008 02:51 PM

The problem I have with that 4th and 1, was how they lined up. I'm like, the previous playcalls, they were in shotgun formation, and that gives you a better chance to succeed at a 4th and 1 than doing the butt-sex running up behind the guard's ass.

teedubya 10-05-2008 02:51 PM

THere was NO PRESSURE to win this game. I think it showed.

Why not? If I'm not mistaken, being shut out is a bad thing. Is this not so?

poll every NFL coach in the history of the NFL and not a single one kicks a field goal in that situation

sedated 10-05-2008 02:56 PM

Why did they give it to savage?

What is chickenshit about avoiding a shut out? If I'm not mistaken being shut out is the worst of the worst when it comes to game results.

You go down swinging. 3 pts is no better than 0 points. Granted it is no better than 7 pts either but I can't remember a game where a team didn't go for it in that situation and I would never fault them for it.

Hootie 10-05-2008 02:59 PM

Borracho, you sound like a dipshit even talking about this...

No one, other than an idiot Chiefs fan, kicks a field goal in that situation.

If we didn't want to get shut out, you pick up that yard and score a TD...

The only thing that would have made that situation thread worthy is if we did kick the field goal...then everyone would truly realize how friggin' dumb Herm Edwards is.

But even Herm Edwards isn't THAT dumb.

But Edwards is THAT dumb to run a play that, typically his favorate play, a RB runs up behind the guard's ass for a no gain.

That's what bothers me.

A shutout is the worst of the worst? Do they put asterisks beside those L's? Is it like a Loss Plus?

This thread is retarted....

Saleenman607 10-05-2008 03:25 PM

the worst part of that situation, is the fact carolina was taking pity on us the last 5 minutes.
What a truly shitty team/owner/coaching staff KC has.
Anyone showing up to arrowhead in two weeks should have their head examined!!

smittysbar 10-05-2008 03:33 PM

The only way I would be pissed is if he kicked the FG, this Thread makes no sense

gblowfish 10-05-2008 03:38 PM

I've had a bad cold this week. Went back to bed at halftime. Glad I did.
Even with a cold I could smell this one coming.

5? How about 20?

Stanley Nickels 10-05-2008 04:00 PM

This thread is reeruned.

Herm Edwards would run for President with an "All Field Goals All The Time" ticket, if he could.

And even HE didn't want to go for 3. You play...to...win..the..game... (with divine intervention)

Saleenman607 10-05-2008 04:01 PM

Honestly, if proud fans of this franchise are tired of seeing this pitiful representation of a football team, they need to stay home. Show the Hunts some embarrassment on local TV.

That was the absolute worst I've ever seen....truly hideous

Saleenman607 10-05-2008 04:08 PM

I wonder if people are still buying the "rebuilding" idea? I mean, really? These numbskulls rebuilding........WOW, I'm stoked
