It's Tom Savini. He's the gore special effects king. He did the special effects in many of the zombie flicks, such as Day of the Dead, which has some of the best gore evah. Check the scene where the zombie gets the top half of his head cut off with a shovel and the eyes follow the people as they pass. You must destroy the brain or they won't stop!

The actor that did the shovel chop is the same guy in the new commercial playing a hotel check-in guy that warns the guy getting a room about the "Dead Zone"... I thought that was a cool nod to classic gore....

He was pretty good in the film...
