Facebook and honestly, I would get so much work done if I didn't have it, but a lot of what I do on facebook has to do with my work...so it is a catch 22

Myspace but hardly ever look at it or use it, Facebook regularly, classmates occasionally, reunion.com rarely.

BWillie 12-01-2008 03:45 PM

I actually wish some of my other friends used myspace or facebook because I never get to talk to them much since they are so far away. It's a great way to stay in touch with old friends. I don't know why other people try to break the trend and the huge hatred for it.

It's been so great for that. Since I went to school and lived in TX for 7 years, I have a lot of scattered friends and/or youth whom I've counseled or ministered to, so these are people if I didn't have facebook I would have never seen again.

eazyb81 12-01-2008 03:59 PM

I look at my Facebook page almost daily, my LinkedIn page around once a week, and I haven't logged into my MySpace page in months. I should probably go ahead and delete the MySpace page.

I tried to be a contrarian and not have a Facebook page, but I finally broke down about six months ago, and I'm really glad I did. It's great to catch up with friends that don't live near me and people I haven't seen in years.

Demonpenz 12-01-2008 04:02 PM

I have a couple myspace accounts. Mostly to play vampires or mobsters though

teedubya 12-01-2008 04:15 PM

Myspace
Facebook
Twitter
LinkedIn
FriendFeed

and a few others that I try out to stay up on the Social Media world.

KCChiefsMan 12-01-2008 04:16 PM

facebook
myspace
classmates

haven't check any of them in like.....forever!!

Sam Hall 12-01-2008 04:16 PM

I spend a lot of time on Facebook.

Bearcat 12-01-2008 04:16 PM

I have a myspace page, but only go to it once every few weeks. I check Facebook every day or two, and LinkedIn about once a week. I hear a lot of good things about Twitter, but I've never used it.

Demonpenz 12-01-2008 04:19 PM

Does anyone know the best place to pimp their myspace?

teedubya 12-01-2008 04:21 PM

I went to my MySpace page back in July, it seems.

Also, today SixApart purchased Pownce... which was co-owned by Kevin Rose of Digg.

ArrowheadHawk 12-01-2008 04:23 PM

Myspace but I let my wife manage it.

munkey 12-01-2008 04:30 PM

That is a subjective statement, depending on what industry you are in.

Frazod 12-01-2008 04:34 PM

I joined Military.com a few years ago, but none of the people I'd actually want to reestablish contact with have ever joined up.

dirk digler 12-01-2008 04:35 PM

Nope though I might look into facebook. IS it better than myspace?

Not really...

My kids would rather spend time on that crap when they could just call their friends via phone or email them...Freak'n "im" via yahoo or UVC can distract my ass for a good portion of the day if I don't filter it or iggy people.

I personally think it's all just a joke...but what the hey...i'm old ;-)

Im in advertising and marketing... and if companies have no presence in social media... they lose.

So, depending on what industry you are in... social media certainly has it's worthiness.

I think it's definitely a waste of time for a lot of kids, because they more than likely go to school with the vast majority of their friends, and then go home and chat with them all night.

Facebook is a good tool for networking and keeping in touch with people. There are lots of apps you can waste your time with, but for the most part I use it for what it was created for... an easy way to keep updated on what's going on with friends that are 800 miles away, plan events, etc.

I agree with you on both points. I have had a facebook account for about a year but never really used it much until the past month or so. Since then I have been able to reconnect with a couple of old friends that I have not seen since junior high and a few cousins I haven't seen in years. I'm hooked.

That's my problem with it for the most part...for my kids it's not a "tool"...It's just another way of socializing.

It drives me f&^ing nuts...

AND they fight over the computer and lie about why they need it on a constant basis.

Case in point:

17 yr old daughter comes home and nabs the old ladies laptop...says she needs to type a paper. Well good old dad knows she can't since this lap caught a virus about two months ago of which cost me $140.00 to wipe the hard drive. Unfortunately with that we lost micorsoft word on which to type said paper.

She knows this...when I ask her she says "I'll type it in notepad"....I say...you can type it and print it on my computer...(evil grin). We'll this pisses her off and she now says the papers:banghead: not due until next week so she'll just wait.

I swear to god I'm paying for something....:banghead::banghead:

Bugeater 12-01-2008 05:56 PM

I've never understood the purpose of them.

Mr. Flopnuts 12-01-2008 05:59 PM

Stumbleupon would be huge if people knew it existed.

Hammock Parties 12-01-2008 06:03 PM

Not really. I have a facebook account but just to look up old high school chums and whack off to their pictures.

Bane 12-01-2008 06:09 PM
