Hire Shanny as HC. Now Clark! Right Now!
Cowher doesn't want to coach so get Shanny!
No other titles, just HC. He would be fantastic to have and no I don't care if half the city hates him. |
NO!

FFFFFFFFFFFFFUUUUUUUUUUUUUCCCCCCCCCCCCCCCCCCCKKKKKKKKKKKKKKKKKKKKK
|
Uh no...

:spock:
|
let's don't and pretend we never had this conversation
|
Anyone who has zero interest in Mike Shanahan as their head coach doesn't know shit about football.
|
Other than him being an ex-Bronco HC, why not?
|
Shanahan > Herm + Norv combined

You're clamoring for the coach who's averaged 8 wins a year since his last division title? His best years were shared with a guy named John Elway. |
ok... someone's supposed to say something along the lines of "anybody but herm" blah blah blah

I said this on another thread... but, I think he's worn out. Shanahan hasn't had time off really since the 80s.
He went from being on Reeve's staff, to OAK and then the 49ers where he helped them win a title... then, since 1995 he has been the man in Denver. That's a long damn time and I think he has burnout. I haven't seen that fire or creativity in a few years. The last couple of drafts were great and that inspired him a bit, but he needs to step away and recharge. Take a year off and he'll still be on the top of any team's list looking for a HC. |

But this is the Broncos we're talking about here. It's apt. |
Quote:
I'm not saying you're an idiot if you ultimately don't want him, but I think it's dumb to not want to sit down and talk to a guy who went 146-98 in Denver over 14 years. 10 of them without Elway. |
Quote:
But the reality of the matter is that this guy has won 24 games his last three NFL seasons. He just pissed away a three game lead to a team everyone thought was dead in the water. With one last opportunity to send his team to the post-season the Broncos got trounced by a bad San Diego team. |

The last three years he's coached his team to 9 wins, 7 wins, and 8 wins (respectively). He's overrated. |

he needs a break just like cowher |
People say he's been mediocre since Elway left, but he's been even worse since Alex Gibbs departed.
|
Hell just hire Brian Billick if we are going to do this s***.
|
WTF is wrong with you son? You have a scratch on your record or something?

He can't pin his firing on Bob Slowik. |

Screw hiring shanarat. Just fire Herm!!! NOWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWW!
|
and they have gotten piss pounded in the playoffs since elway....

Three of them resulted in losses in the opening round though. He had a three year run that was pretty impressive. '03-'05. I thought that was his best chance at winning another Superbowl. He fell just short in the one chance he had (losing to Pittsburgh). The last 3 years? Definitely mediocre. |
Terrell Davis just predicted Shanahan will be the coach of the Chiefs in 2009.

Shanahan is a good coach, bad GM. Despite the past, he wouldn't be a bad coach for us.
|
SIGN HIM UP NOW!! He is the best coach in the AFC West, the others are idiots, he will crush the Bronco's
|
Shanahan + Pioli in 09. I'm on board
As long as The Rat can leave the defensive decision-making to someone else, he can nibble on our cheese. |

Lets sign him as an ASSISTANT...HERM would be his boss. :)

YOU JUST HAVE TO DRAW THE LINE SOMEWHERE!!! FOR ****S SAKE. |

The only way I would want Shanarat as a coach is if he was an O Coord. But on that same note I don't think Gailey will get or even deserves to get fired and I don't see Shanarat taking anything less then a Coord. position.
|
That would be like Great Britain asking Hitler not to kill himself so he could become their next Secretary of Defense. I mean he wasn't all bad. Right?

Wow I think I'd prefer him to Cowher. God he'd have a hard on for Denver!!
|
Mike Shanahan as head coach, Mike Martz as offensive coordinator and Al Saunders as an offensive assistant would satisfy me (if the Chiefs don't end up getting Pioli/Josh McDaniels)

Nothing says "Develop a young QB" quite like throwing 50 times a game, out of 5 wide sets with no protection, and abandoning your running game. Recipe for success, I tell you... |

In Bulger's case, it was a direct result of the beatings he's taken because of Martz' philosophy. |

I'm of the 'anyone but Herm' ilk, but not in this instance.

Shanahan will not be coming to KC. He had years left on his contract and will probably be an analyst for a year while he continues to collect his money. Gailey is an excellent OC; if he had more than kids to work with KC would have been a contender. Gailey will stay. Yes, we need a change on defense - either a coaching change or abandon the awful cover-two. As for Edwards, give him another year. His first year was clearly on Peterson's watch, year two was an attempt at putting a band-aid on a corpse. This third year required blowing the whole thing up and stating over. Give him another year with a new GM.
|
PLEASE CLARK, GROW SOME BALLS AND FIRE HERM AND HIRE SHANNY!!! WE NEED HIM!!!

He's another Holmgren. A very good coach suffering from his own personnel moves. Remember, they took the entire Cleveland DL?
