Happy anniversary to me.

Today is our 18th wedding anniversary! Wowza! We got married way too young and we have had our rocky times but we have stuck with it and made things work. PBJPBJPBJPBJPBJPBJPBJPBJPBJPBJPBJPBJPBJPBJPBJPBJPBJPBJ

My wife and I have been married for 9 1/2 yrs. now but we've been together for almost 15. I love her to death. Relationships are a bitch at times but it's all worth the extra effort when you wake up in the morning and she's grinding your face.

Jilly 01-05-2009 03:38 PM

Congratulations! We just celebrated our two year, no where near that, but there's no doubt we will make it!

Donger 01-05-2009 03:38 PM

Pretty close to what we were...she was 19 and I was just shy of 21. I tell my kids all the time to wait to get married until they are at least in their mid 20's. I love my wife and nobody could have told us different at the time but we both see and have seen how being so young made things so much more difficult for us, especially when we were first starting out.

Very very true .... but also being young and not knowing any better helped as well. Working together as a couple and anything can happen. Looking back on my marriage that was probably the most fun, exciting, and scary time, although we didn't realize it. Scrounging for change in the couch to go buy dessert, or get a movie. A few extra dollars at the end of the week to go out and splurge at some diner. We made our own fun and enjoyed it until we had the means of doing things with money.

Well I can laugh about it now. :D

Now that we have been successful in careers and are raising 2 kids part of me misses that time of innocence and non-responsibility (at least not as much as now with business, kids, wife, house, car, etc., etc.) If you work at it together it is actually a wonderful experience and one that builds itself to and even better relationship with your spouse down the road.

Congrats again on 18 years and here is to many more :toast: :toast: :toast:

Yeah I remember those days also. But I tell my kids that TODAY it is much more difficult to do what I did...my wife didn't go to work until our kids were both in school all day. That meant that I was the sole provider (by choice) so we scraped by on a tight budget for a long time. We never did without, but things were very simple. I was fortunate in my choice of employment that I fell into a job that gave excellent raises over the years so I was able to increase my spendable income gradually but steadily...once my wife went to work a ton of bricks was off of my shoulders and things went smoother.

Awesome. My 7th is this year or maybe it's 6th. In any case, we're a lot happier now than we were 6 years ago.... or was it 7?
