Only thing ESPN said is Michael Smith believes Spagnuolu is believed to be Pioli's first choice as Head Coach.
|
LOL. The guy we turned down.

If this is true this place is going to look like a 5000 member bukkake event today
|
U2- Its a beautiful day
|
How can this be true with the Rooney rule?
|
Maybe for the first interview. Can't hire him until they interview at least 1 minority candidate like Raheem Morris or Ron Rivera, etc.

New England Patriots vice president of player personnel Scott Pioli has agreed to become head of football operations for the Kansas City Chiefs, two NFL sources told ESPN's Michael Smith. NFL.com Video Herm Edwards recaps the Chiefs' 2008 season and addresses his status with the organization. Pioli was seen packing up his office Tuesday afternoon, a Patriots source said. The decision to hire Pioli likely means Herman Edwards will not be back as Chiefs head coach next season. Among the top candidates to succeed Edwards is New York Giants defensive coordinator Steve Spagnuolo. A source close to the situation told ESPN.com's Bill Williamson that Edwards found out about the Pioli hiring through the media and hadn't been told anything by the Chiefs' management as of Tuesday afternoon. Edwards sent his assistant coaching staff home to await word on the future in light of the Pioli hiring news. Patriots director of player personnel Nick Caserio will replace Pioli as vice president of player personnel, league sources told ESPN. Pioli, 43, has been with the Patriots for nine years. Pioli should find a warm welcome in Kansas City. At the last Chiefs home game, shortly after the embattled Carl Peterson resigned after 20 years as president, general manager and CEO, several signs were spotted in the crowd proclaiming, "We want Pioli." Information from The Associated Press was used in this report. |

Only way this could have a shred of truth is if Pioli has been signed for about a week and interviewing candidates during that time.
I seriously doubt this is true, but will be elated if it is...... |
LOL @ the Broncos if this is true.

Technically, wouldn't Herm count as the minority candidate? They could just say Herm interviewed with Pioli to keep his job.
I would absolutely LOVE Spags. |

I wonder what style of offense he'd bring? Modified WCO like the Eagles or something similar to the Giants? Or neither? One thing's for certain. The defense and special teams would most likely improve dramatically. |
Maybe they kept the coaching interviews secret as well. Who knows who all they've talked to.
With that being said I'd assume this was just a mistake by the station. |

This sounds like bs at this point
|
For all we know, Pioli has been interviewing all kinds of candidates over the past week.
|
I doubt this is true, dont they have to follow the rooney law or whatever it is

Herm is getting the Gunther treatment. Nice.
|
Spags has beena dC for 2 years one he wins Super Bowl with Great defense, best pass rushers in the game.
He didn't have them this year and they were not that great. He will be worse than Herm!! if True this is another Chiefs EPIC FAILURE |

The story was that Spagnuolo, Pioli and Hunt all met in Dallas and that now Spagnuolo was in KC getting ready to address the team. Multiple reports - don't know who the official "source" of the story is. ESPN radio/610 reporting this..
