And I say he will be fired by Tuesday and maybe a new coach hired.

I just think that he would know after talking to Herm for one day whether or not he wanted to keep him.

It is pretty common to fire people on a Friday afternoon so it is not huge news.

Because the deadline for firing a coach and hiring another one is 6pm today.

I don't think we'll hear anything until the middle of next week. Wouldn't be surprised if Pioli has spend the last few days talking to folks inside the organization and seeing what the feeling is in the building and assessing people's strengths and weaknesses, and is ready to make a call next week...

If we do not fire Herm, it would be because there are no better options out there.

Remember Herm has 23 SB rings, and he coached the Kansas City Wizards to the Super Bowl in 20013.

Didn't Pioli talk about how he needs to evaluate the current players, and in order to do that he has to know what the players were being asked to do? And in order to know what the players were being asked to do, he needs the coaches around who were asking them to do it?

Maybe he's evaluated every player on the roster over the past 48 hours, but I would doubt it.

Today or Friday is clear, they just don't want anything coming out on gameday.

Unless they have a last-minute change of heart and wait to see if Ryan's Ravens lose, the Rams are going to announce their HC this afternoon or tomorrow.

I agree with BRC on Tuesday, for the same reason the Chiefs made the Pioli announcement when they did.
Let the hoopla from this weekend's games get over, and have the media's full attention when the announcement is made.

Adam Sheffter just said that he was told there was no decision coming on Herm today, but that he thinks something will happen by Monday.

I know we're all looking for closure on all this but it was obvious from Pioli's presser that he will be taking his time to make any big decisions. He made it as clear as he could. That being said, if his real deadline was tonight, he wouldn't just "not fire" Herm. He would make an announcement that Herm was the guy. Let's just try and be patient and put faith in the guy we've been praying would save us from Peterson mediocrity.:)
