Garrett the next coach of the Rams

Apparently, he's on his way to St. Louis to sign the contract.

Spagnuolo is still in play.

For some reason, I like this hiring for the Rams a lot.

There's a surprise.

dirk digler 01-16-2009 04:24 PM

Good for the Rams

OnTheWarpath15 01-16-2009 04:24 PM

Damn, you beat me to it.

My contact just called and said, "You'll never believe this, Garrett is on his way to STL, presumably to sign a deal."

Hoping to announce tomorrow.

RedThat 01-16-2009 04:25 PM

thats a good hire for the rams.

where did you get this info Badguy?

Nightfyre 01-16-2009 04:26 PM

why on earth would they make an announcement on saturday? The NFL will punch them in the head emotionally.

ChiefsCountry 01-16-2009 04:27 PM

Looks like TO is staying in Dallas now.

Nah, as long as it's not on gameday.

FringeNC 01-16-2009 04:27 PM

Does this mean Shanahan is headed to Dallas?

The Bad Guy 01-16-2009 04:28 PM

I really think Garrett is great offensive mind.

I think the circus that Jones created took away for how good of a game-caller he is.

Really good hire for St. Louis.

I do think Garrett will make a good NFL head coach someday. He's a guy that can turn an offense around fast.

jAZ 01-16-2009 04:32 PM

Heh, Never listen to rumors, I guess.

It was "down to Spagnuolo and the Vikes DC" last I heard on the radio.

StcChief 01-16-2009 04:33 PM

good signing... despite how I really don't like their ownership.

OFT, but, who is that on your avatar? My oh my...damn that is fine

Direckshun 01-16-2009 04:34 PM

The pieces are slowly coming together for a dominant defense there. I would have gone defensive.

talastan 01-16-2009 04:34 PM

Spags, the DC from Miami, I like the way this offseason is falling into place. Hopefully we can get Spags as a HC.

Basileus777 01-16-2009 04:35 PM

Awful hiring. He won't survive 3 years.

Good for Dallas though.

The Bad Guy 01-16-2009 04:36 PM

I really don't want Pasqualoni as the head coach of this team. If it came down to Herm for a year or Pasqualoni, I'm taking Herm for a year.

That is Taya Parker 2009 Penthouse Pet of the Year. It took an awful lot of searching to find one of her not naked though.

Yeah, my guy said the same thing yesterday, and the papers were reporting it today. Frazier the favorite, Spagnuolo the 2nd choice.

Garrett came out of nowhere.

As dysfunctional as the organization is, I wouldn't be surprised if they were leaking information to certain members of the organization, to find out who's leaking the information to the media. It's like a ****ing soap opera around there for the past several years, from what I've been told.

Really? Not that I paid much attention to the guy before but was told he was credited with getting a ton of production out of Joey Porter? Just curious as to more info on this guy.

I can't see Shanahan and Jerry Jones working together.

Just can't see it.

Could you please expand on your dislike for Pasqualoni....i (and maybe some others) don't really know anything about him.

I think they had a much better scheme than Cameron's DC for Porter.

I just don't want a 59-year old HC, who really has only 3 years of pro experience.

He was a decent college coach.

He coordinated a decent defense last year.

He's 59 years old and is said to be really set in his ways.

And Mortenson's never been wrong?

It's JMO, but I'll gladly make a friendly wager if you like.

If Herm departed I wish it was at a better time.

You got good coaches next year Cowher, Holmgren, I don't think Shanahan is going to coach this year but next year I bet he will.

I'd like for Pioli to get someone with experience. And if not for experience at least one is very very smart.

I'm not saying it's true, and didn't put much stock into until Garrett left. With Garrett leaving, I think it's even money.

Cowher wants total control, he wouldn't come here anyway.

I think Garrett is overrated, but we will soon see.

Yeah thats the problem with a lot of those old guys they want full control. We just hired the best GM prospect out there and gave him full control, now I'm betting he'll want to work as a team with whoever he hires like he did with BB in NE but he will have final say

OnTheWarpath15 01-16-2009 04:49 PM

All these guys are great coordinators, but that doesn't guarantee success as a HC.

Just ask Mike Martz, Cam Cameron and Mike Nolan.

Buck 01-16-2009 04:50 PM

I wouldn't be surprised if Jerry is pleased at this. Garrett did an awful job last year. He deserved to be fired anyway.

Johnny Vegas 01-16-2009 04:53 PM

wow! I thought when Dallas kept him that it was foreshadowing Garrett was going to be the next Cowboys coach by next year. Hmmm....there I go thinking again.

Jerry will probably be happy to get out of that contract he gave him.

we still need to get moving for all the OC DC and positional coaches

Micheal Lombardi and Bill Simmons talk about Jason Garrett from 64:00 to 66:00 min here

I thought it was really interesting.

I hope BRC's source is better than Warpath's. :shake:

'Hamas' Jenkins 01-16-2009 06:25 PM

I think Garrett is overrated as a coordinator. He completely mismanaged the talent of that team last year, just to placate one over-the-hill cancer who isn't even a game breaker any more. That team should have been based on the power running game and the play action pass.

With that being said, this scares me as a Chiefs fan, because it increases the chances that the Rams take a QB #1 overall.

maybe, it could cut the other way....maybe they think he can rehabilitate Bulger....i bet that very question was at the center of their interview...
