Schefter reporting Cowher tops our list of candidates, Shanahan will NOT be in KC..
Shanahan isn’t a candidate in Kansas City
http://blogs.nfl.com/2009/01/23/shan...n-kansas-city/ Despite reports running rampant that Kansas City is negotiating with former Broncos coach Mike Shanahan they are not, sources said Friday. The Chiefs never have made any contact with Shahanan, never. And there have been no contract negotiations. So unless people I have known for years are wrong, Shanahan is not going to be the next coach of the Kansas City Chiefs. It is not happening. People can keep talking as if it is. But it is not. He will not be the coach of the Kansas City Chiefs in 2009. http://blogs.nfl.com/2009/01/23/shan...n-kansas-city/ http://blogs.nfl.com/2009/01/23/cowh...fs-candidates/ While football has speculated on the Chiefs coaching search the past few weeks, now Kansas City actually gets to commence it. One NFL source said a name near or at the top of the Chiefs list is former Steelers coach Bill Cowher, who has been adamant that he will not coach this season. Still, the source said the Chiefs are interested in Cowher, though it is uncertain whether they would be able to entice him to come out of retirement. Also on the Chiefs list is Cardinals offensive coordinator Todd Haley, who used to work on the staff of Bill Parcells, the father-in-law of Kansas City general manager Scott Pioli. If the Chiefs wanted to hire Haley, they would have to wait until after the Super Bowl to make the move. Dolphins defensive coordinator Paul Pasqualoni also is thought to be on the Chiefs list of potential candidates. Pasqualoni had a down season in Miami, but is highly respected around the league and used to work with Pioli for two seasons at Syracuse. Some around the league believe that Chiefs chairman Clark Hunt has a strong feeling for Kansas City offensive coordinator Chan Gailey, though Pioli would have to sign off on the hire and some doubt that he would. However it works, the coaching carousel keeps spinning. And we now have 11 teams that have changed head coaches, more than any other season in NFL history. The changes included two Super-Bowl winning coaches that were fired, two Super-Bowl winning coaches that retired, and seven other changes. |
610 is saying that Shanahan's agent told Schefter that there are no negotiations going on and that Shanahan is not coming to Kansas City. Vehement about it.

Doesn't mean he told him the truth. If Clark/Scott asked him to keep quiet, what's he going to do, spill the beans? |
What about the Rooney Rule? Do we get fined if we don't go through the right process, lose a draft pick, what?

The individual they were interviewing said that Schefter has a 15 year relationship with the agent and that to date he's never mislead him. In any case, not saying yea or nay, just reporting what I heard... |
Well, either Schefter is right, or Mortensen is right.
Both have been wrong before, so it's possible neither will be right... |
He's going down like the captain of the titanic isn't he.
|
That's my gut. I could live with Shanny though.

Well, didn't Schefter reported that Herm was gonna stay?
|
Quote:
Although it's interesting to me that the 810 guys are treating it as a done deal due to some kind of inside information that Jack Harry purportedly has. |
Mort was right about the Chiefs making a decision regarding Herm by the end of the day today... he's been right so far.

Probably a loophole where interviewing Herm satisfied this requirement. |

I'm trusting Mortensen.

ESPN vs NFL network, Mortensen vs Schefter. Someone is going to look like a giant ass after this.

Schefter doubling down.
|
this is getting interesting.

But hell, who knows at this point? |
Crennel interviewed as Rooney rule candidate? Makes sense.
New DC. Schefter lost all cred for me when he said Pioli wasn't coming. |
Was just listening to Jack Harry being interviewed over the phone on WHB 810 AM; he was none too polite regarding Adam Shefter's comments the last 48 hours..."These 'network' guys think they know everything and disregard what those of us closest to the situation are reporting..." I'm paraphrasing of course.
Going to be hard to see Shanahan's grotesquely tight, tanned face which resembles a Chilean mummy-child, sporting a Chiefs baseball hat on top of it. |

Teicher just said on 610, and this is a direct quote, that "Shanahan is not going to be the next coach of the Chiefs."

When was the last time Teicher was right about anything? |

Schefter is really getting his panties in a wad on this one. Can't believe his "good friend" the Rat would coach for the enemy huh? ROFL
Whether we get the Rat or the Chin, if we get either of them I'll be okay with it. Both have proven records and will be very beneficial for this team. |
Don't ask me, I'm just passing on what I hear.
Apparently the conjecture now is that ESPN's 'source' on this is actually NBC 41 and that they're just nationalizing a local rumor. |

idiot he is calling his first team meeting already rofl

Schefter isn't stating facts, he's stating wild hopes. He hates the Chiefs and doesn't even try to hide it. **** him. Welcome, master Shredder.
|
I'm not inclined to believe that Schefter is wrong on matters pertaining to Shanahan. It would be news in itself if Adam ends up eating a **** sandwhich on this one...
|
Schefter also said Pioli was not coming to KC
|

Kev Harlan is saying that before Shanny went on vacation three weeks ago, he said that the only person that he would come back to the NFL to work for this year is Scott Pioli. Yet people in Denver were being told that he would NOT be in KC. The plot thickens... |

Schefter's a full of shit garden gnome, always has been.
Schefter could present me with Cowhers signed employment contract and I'd still believe Mort over him. |
The Chiefs didn't fire Herm for no reason.
|
hahahahaha Cowher?
Has Schefter LOST HIS MIND? |

610s saying something about a league policy dictating that there can't be any non-superbowl related NFL announcements from tomorrow until february 2nd - anybody know anything about that?

Kevin Harlan reporting on Shanahan possibly using KC...
Basically what he is saying is that Shanahan and other Denver coaches have to be actively seeking positions or the lose out on a ton of $'s.
And the possiblity that Shanahan "could" be using the Chiefs to make it look like he is looking for a job to be eligible for the $'s. Very interesting... |
Yes, and WTC 7 really was a controlled demolition.
|
Harlan says the agent for Bob Slowik was told that his client was told to be actively looking for work so that Bowlen wouldn't have "cause" to legally withhold money owed by Bowlen. Now they're speculating the possibility that Shanarat is using the Chiefs to get his name out there so that legally Bowlen could not come back and withhold the money from Shanarat.
Wow... |
Poor Taco. ROFL
|
ESPN News just said that the Chiefs are "targeting" Shanahan; they're NOT in negotiations.

Schefter is admitting that his sources are on the periphery and not directly involved. I think Mortensen's sources are coming out of Arrowhead. So actually Schefter isn't dealing directly with Mike on this one it seems.
|
Jack Harry getting burned and hating Pioli
would be mother ****ing hilarious |

Rat gets fired, but can't collect the money owed him unless? That's weird. |
Quote:
This is beyond crazy. |
Also he reported that Schefter is very close to Shanahan.
|
Quote:
Indeed. I'll admit it. I would be crushed. I've been a Shanahan fan since I was a kid, reading Elway in Sports Illustrated talking glowingly about what he's done for his game. I was jubulant when Shanahan got hired as head coach, and I believe that we were within two years of Superbowl contention when he got fired. I'd never forgive Bowlen if this happened. |

I'm starting to believe this isn't going to come to fruition...

I hope people are ready to wait until February 2nd to find out who our new coach is. |
Wasn't Adam the one telling us no way Pioli was coming here?

ESPN Backpedals on Shanahan...
ESPN news wire update:
UPDATE: PLEASE USE THE FOLLOWING WORDING CREDIT ESPN's Chris Mortensen -- ESPN senior NFL analyst Chris Mortensen reports that the Chiefs are TARGETING Shanahan and negotiations have occurred, according to sources. Shanahan could not be reached for comment and Chiefs had no comment. |
Kevin says he doesn't think it will be Shanny...no particular reason, just doesn't see it happening
|
if the Chiefs hire Cowher, Im buying my buddy a beer.
