ARLINGTON, Texas (AP) - Cowboys owner Jerry Jones insists he hasn't decided whether Terrell Owens will return and that coach Wade Phillips will be his own defensive coordinator in 2009.

Jones also said Tuesday he wasn't surprised an agreement couldn't be reached with Dan Reeves. The former Cowboys player who coached Denver and Atlanta to the Super Bowl was set to join the team as a consultant before the deal fell through at the last minute.

Repeated questions over the status of Owens angered Jones. Speculation about the receiver's future has swirled since the Cowboys' season imploded with a blowout loss at Philadelphia that kept Dallas out of the playoffs.

Defensive coordinator Brian Stewart was fired a few weeks later, and Jones said Tuesday he decided not to hire a replacement.

It is great to have pride in your team for doing things correctly for the most part.. But I would rather have championships..

People make fun of Shanahan without Elway, but Jerry Jones and Jimmy Johnson is a far better comparison. I know winning a Super Bowl is different, but people wouldn't have cut Carl any slack for the last 15 years even if we won a Super Bowl one of those first few years. Sorry, but Dallas hasn't done anything either... in pretty much the entire free agency era. You might as well be saying we should've hired George Seifert as the head coach.
