Does anyone think that Pollard can be LB?

Okay, I believed that Pollard could be a weakside backer in the 4-3. But, I was looking at the Daniels story on another website, and several fans were saying that Pollard could now move to linebacker.

I think they are crazy. Now, assuming that the Chiefs are going to a 3-4, does anybody on here think he can move to linebacker? The best chance he would have is ILB... and it is a lot of punishment for a guy who is listed at 224lbs.

Just wanted to see if the Planet's reaction was similar to mine upon reading that.

I don't think so.

The 3-4 may be a much better fit for him as a strong safety, since he shouldn't be in coverage as much as they asked him in the tampa 2.

Ultra Peanut 03-10-2009 04:54 PM

Seeing as he sucks at football? Probably not.

DeezNutz 03-10-2009 05:47 PM

I think he can play ST, though.

I heard we're moving him to DE. Pioli was impressed with his ability to get to and injure the QB.

I heard that also!! Did you hear they want to move Tamba Hali to NT?

Pollard should be the new FB.

Hammock Parties 03-10-2009 06:42 PM

I think the better question is:

Does anyone think that Pollard can play ANY position?

This. Let him patrol the running back, and all will be well.

no

He'd be better there than at safety. Put some weight on him and he's got the skills. Hell he's even lost his big hit rep at safety because he's always out of position. I haven't seen him lay somebody out in a while besides rolling up on Brady.

He and Flowers absolutely went to work on Oakland.

It was a thing of beauty...rochambeau

I like Pollard as a saftey. He was not a cover two saftey. I think in the 3-4 we will see him become a stud.

I think Pollard's frame is pretty maxed out as far as putting more weight on.

KCinNY 03-10-2009 08:06 PM

Pollard is a special teams guy.....that's it.

Great pick by Herm and Carl.

Pollard DOES NOT have the skills.

He's a god-awful tackler, and gets abused in the open field.

This has been your anti-Pollard public service announcement.

Glenn Dorsey should play safety

Yes. Pollard could play linebacker in the new football league.

Blick 03-10-2009 09:25 PM

Larry Atkins says probably not.

chiefzilla1501 03-10-2009 09:56 PM

Can he be a weakside backer? Absolutely not.

But I'm surprised how much shit he gets. He had no business being in a Tampa 2. that's a defense that requires safeties to cover a ton of ground and Pollard doesn't have a lot of speed. And that's even worse when your pass rush is so bad that you ask them to cover for forever.

I don't think our safeties are nearly as bad as we believe they are. I think they will look a hell of a lot better with even an average pass rush. And I think both Page and Pollard will benefit from a scheme that isn't so demanding of its safeties.

Yes, both of them will magically learn the art of tackling.

I couldn't have said it better.
