Discounted Season Tickets

So I'm sitting here minding my own business at lunch and I'm checking out the company discounts. I work at Cessna here in Wichita, so Lord knows there ain't much happening! I happen to run across this little jewel:

NEW Kansas City Chiefs tickets: limited number of $250 Full Season Tickets for all Cessna employees, as well as their family and friends. Lower level seats and Group opportunities are also available. Please contact Tyler Kirby directly at (816) 920-4824 or tkirby@chiefs.nfl.com with any questions or to reserve seats.

How desparate are they anyway?

supposely only 33,00 season tickets were sold compared to 71,000 just 2 years ago.

talastan 05-21-2009 10:49 AM

I'm pretty sure you are looking at purchasing tickets in the Red Reserve areas. Though for 10 games I'd take it if I didn't have to drive from Springfield.

So do I count as your friend?

kcfan82 05-21-2009 10:54 AM

I paid more than $250 for the preseason games alone...

Hence why I didn't renew this year.

gblowfish 05-21-2009 10:56 AM

The Chiefs always make special offers on season tickets AFTER they screw over their best customers, the guys who had to pay for their tickets in full up front.
Mine were over $1,000 each for 3 plus parking pass.

DaFace 05-21-2009 10:58 AM

That's not a discounted price necessarily. Their new pricing scheme includes a handful of seats that are $250 for the season. They're all the way up in the top corners though.

If anyone is interested, I'd make the call to find out details.

They did that last year....

They screwed all of the season ticket holders for $1600 and then they were basically giving away free tickets by the end of the year while all of the suckers already ponied up their $80 per game including the preseasons scrimmages.

Fish 05-21-2009 11:02 AM

Anyone can get $250 full season tickets.

The Chiefs have done this frequently this year. Sending an e-mail to a group or business saying "Hey, we're giving you a great deal here, for your company because you're special. Call now." But it's the same price that everyone else is paying, just in an individualized e-mail making your group or business feel important.

six wins in two years = slow sales.

What do you expect?

Peoli's scheme to get all of the season ticket holders back was to send out some free cheesy hat. Nice work....

And you can buy any of those season tickets through a ticket broker. They charge more than the listed season ticket price but less than the single game price. Pretty good deal if you want good season ticket seats for a reasonable price. I'm pretty sure you can't buy Club 50 seats from the Chiefs, but you can from a broker. Just an option.

SBK 05-21-2009 11:16 AM

The most fun I ever had at a game was clear up in the top corners. Tons of drunks up there in the cheap seats---great entertainment.

This isn't some special offer. When prices were announced you could have chosen to sit up there rather than to renew where you are.
I don't understand how people can see that these tickets are available to whoever wants them......

Mojo Jojo 05-21-2009 12:17 PM

The Chiefs are HURTING to sell tickets. They are marketing to anyone/everyone. They did this same type of thing prior to Carl coming to town.

gblowfish 05-21-2009 12:19 PM

The point is, they'll make better deals to people who haven't supported them for years. I'm not saying my seats should cost $25 ea, but they've discounted the more expensive seats, or given away merchandise and stuff to people who buy late in the year to avoid blackouts. I'm just saying they don't give the best deals to their best customers like other businesses do.

Buck 05-21-2009 12:19 PM

Damnit, I gave up my season tickets this year because they were $900, and this thread got me to thinking if we had $250 tickets in SD.

I went and checked and the Cheapest are $480 in the Family Section in Upper View (4 sections of seats), which are all sold out. The next cheapest is $630.

Dude, what do you expect them to do? If you were selling a product and your sales were down, you reduce your prices...but you were not screwing the people who already bought it because they obviously felt it was worth it when they paid.

...I guarantee you the Chiefs didn't want to lower their prices, so they were not screwing anyone...

It's crazy. Why can I, Joe Blow, be able to buy lower level seats between the 35 and 50 for 20% above season ticket prices "willy nilly?" I'm just someone who has money willing to buy a couple of seats where precious seats have been held for years. BTW, the 20% premium is less than the same seat for a single game. I repeat, IT'S CRAZY!!!

Perhaps a lot of companies used to do that, but I'm not sure I can think of any good examples these days. Most companies give you the best deals to start doing business with them, then hope you'll hang on after they bump their prices up.

Sandyskc 05-21-2009 12:37 PM

My season tickets went down in price this year. Last year they were $780 this year $590. I also could have gotten a lower price by changing seats during relocation.

He works out at Boeing (maybe "Spirit" now). Met him at a few of the gatherings in Wichita. Super nice guy, too bad he doesn't frequent the planet anymore.

Sounds like you should know better if this has happened to you before.

For $250 I would def take that deal. The Metro is very close to my house in Blue Springs.

Redrum_69 05-21-2009 02:42 PM

LOL

This is the Chiefs. You don't move up, you move back. The less the view the better of the train wreck imo.
